Or, you know, you could not want to deal with friends and relatives being busybodies. Your reasons are your own. Are you content with stealing moments to be together as a couple? Do you want to make your relationship known and the fact that you can't drives you batty? Remember, there are lots of benefits to dating in secret. You can be yourselves completely, away from prying eyes, and get to know each other better as potential longterm romantic partners. [Ardyn had sent Prompto back to the Chocobo races from whence he'd picked him up. There was the selfie which he'd taken with the young man's own phone, a lascivious reminder of their illicit tryst, as a token of what had happened between them. Other than that, neither had contacted the other in over two weeks. Ardyn was neither surprised nor insulted by this. Their secret was just that, a secret, and the best way to not let it get out was by pretending it had never happened.

Except that it had and Ardyn wasn't about to let sleeping dogs lie. He had been busy yes and he'd also been waiting patiently, in the hopes that Prompto's need for him would grow to a breaking point. With some luck, and time ever on his side, the boy wouldn't need to be drunk this time to accept Ardyn's summons.

The other incentive which he had was that this time, he had all of their toys prepared ahead of time and they could fulfill their mutual fantasy. Only once Ardyn was convinced enough time had passed did he finally send Prompto a text one afternoon:]

Still on the road with your friends, eh? How about a respite from all that for a few hours?

[Prompto had been, as promised, dreadfully regretful the next morning when he woke up to a pounding head, a churning stomach and a dark, obvious bruise on his neck that had him switching to a turtleneck jumper for a week (a move that fooled absolutely noone, but they at least didn't pry as to who his mysterious companion had been when he came home so very late from the races), the guilt had been almost overwhelming. Yet nothing changed between him and Noctis, or Ignis or Gladio, and it wasn't as though he'd given away any secrets or put any of them in danger, he'd just made a silly mistake and had a really good night that he would never repeat again and that would be the end of it.

But then he found himself looking at the photo Ardyn had taken, or reading back over their text conversation, and thinking about how much he wished the chancellor wasn't their mortal enemy because he'd really like the older man to make good on those offers. He thought about texting him several times, but always chickened out at the last minute, deciding it was a stupid thing to do.

And then his phone buzzed while he was lounging in the back of the regalia, and the way his stomach flipped when he saw who the message had come from (the number saved in his phone separately, now that Noctis' actual number was restored, as 'daddy') told him all he needed to know]

Depends, what kind of respite did you have in mind?

The meeting had gone on for ten hours, and while Fingon hadn't been unfortunate enough to need his crown for it, the headache forming behind his eyes was nearly as bad as if he had. Maybe things would have been slightly better if he had, honestly. The captains of Himring and Hithlum had a hundred different opinions between them, and were never shy of expressing them. A show of royal authority....

Well, the one who knew was currently elsewhere, wasn't he? And the Eagles didn't deliver post to Mandos. Fingon would have to figure this out on his own.

"Dismissed," he said shortly, as the meeting seemed to be breaking down into petty insults and bickering. "All of you- no, wait. My lord of Himring, stay behind."

He managed to wait until the rest of the group had departed before he sank tiredly into a chair.

[ Privacy is always a rare thing on board the ship. It doesn't usually bother Corentin very much because he never really had much of it before he joined the navy either, but ever since he and Henry had their Talk he has spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to get a moment alone with the young officer.

Sometimes, these things really can't be planned for, they have to be given to you as a gift from the universe. That is, at least, how Cor chooses to view the fact that Henry happens to have a reason to be in the engine room when he is doing some maintenance.

He grabs the othe man's wrist as he passes him and pulls him into a somewhat secluded corner, putting a finger to Henry's lips to keep him quiet while he himself is shaking with quiet laughter.

It takes a little while, but eventually he manages to get a whisper out: ]

I need to ask you something.

[Taking time to think after their Talk had been the right choice. There had been the first pleased rush of glee that had floated him all the way to Lysistrate's kitchen. There had been the careful contemplation that had turned the idea this way and that after talking with Horatio. There had been enough time to get all of the advice and opinions sorted through until he felt entirely certain that he had come to his own conclusion.

And then, well, it was just a matter of trying to suss out if Corentin had had enough time too.

Henry's own thoughts are somewhere else entirely as he starts through the engine room, but the familiar hand on his wrist can't help sending his thoughts briefly immediately through the entire debate again. It's quick to reach the same decision by the time they're hidden away in a corner, quirking Henry's lips easily even as he's hushed from asking what's going on.

Whatever it is, of course, it's just nice to spend a few seconds alone with his best friend. Whatever it is, Henry's already grinning slightly as he cants his head to one side inquisitively.]
