The STUCK ON A DESERTED ISLAND meme

You're on a deserted island. Far from civilization and any decent wi-fi. It's pretty much what it says on the tin. Maybe you took a wrong turn while out at sea, or you got shipwrecked. Whatever happened, you're stranded here, but at least you've got company.

WHAT DO:
- Leave a comment with your character. You can write your own prompt/s if you want. Indicate your preferences, if any.
- Tag other people. If they left no prompts, use the randomizer.
- ???
- Profit.

PROMPTS:

1 - Where am I? Congratulations, you just survived a...whatever calamity it was that brought you here! Side effects may include disorientation, exhaustion, and exposure to the elements. Better start moving before the sea decides that it wants to keep you.

2 - I'm hungry. You'd better start looking for food while you're at it. And try not to end up as food for the local wildlife. If you don't know how to hunt or forage, it's time for a crash course.

3 - The bare necessities. Some things don't grow on trees or swim freely in the sea. You'll have to improvise and start building anything else you need.

4 - Exploring! You gotta admit, you're curious about what lies beyond the sand and the palm trees. Just be careful, you don't know what -  or who - you might find in there.

5 - I'm outta here! Time to put your escape plan into action and hope it works. Or...just scrawl a large S.O.S. in the sand and start waving wildly.

6 - It's like rain on your wedding day. It's raining. Do you seek shelter or keep calm and carry on with whatever you were doing that isn't seeking shelter?

7 - Sleepless nights. Sleeping under the starry night sky (or under a flimsy handmade shed) might be a thing you always wanted, but you kinda wish you were closer to home and that nice wi-fi connection. It's hard to sleep to begin with, too.

8 - Wildcard! Roll for another option or write your own prompt.

OOC: I'm happy to make a starter, but first I wanted to ask if you're cool with playing with a Justice. I'm thinking some magic fuckery separated them, gave Justice a body, and now they're stuck on an island.

Justice doesn't quite remember everything. He wakes up in his own body on an island that sings like lyrium. Everything hurts, his head swims with too many memories to piece together at once, and the only thing he knows for sure is that he needs to find Anders.

Getting up is a struggle. The legs don't feel like his. That's because they're not, he remembers. He's not supposed to have a body. Why does he have a body?

Doesn't matter right now. He needs to find Anders. He knows where he is without seeing him--it's like he's been hooked by a fishing line, and he's being reeled in.

The beach is white and untouched by anything other than seabirds pecking for clams under the sand. He ignores the animals and brilliant blue surf, following the tug, until he sees a familiar human sprawled in the sea foam, hair tangled with sand.

"Anders?" Justice crouches down, shaking Anders by the arm. "Anders, wake up!"

The last thing Anders remembers is some kind of magic, and then everything went black. The mage groans as something shakes him and calls his name, though right now it sounds rather distant, like through a tunnel. He feels the wet sand beneath his cheek and his mouth has a faint taste of salt.

Something feels wrong. He feels like a part of himself is missing. Yet he feels like it's not gone, exactly. It feels like that missing part is still attached to him, somehow.

Anders' eyes flutter open and focus on the man before him. Even without having to be told, Anders somehow knows who this is.

"Justice?" The mage props himself up, looking up at his friend.

"Anders." Justice breathes a sigh of relief as Anders responds, seemingly alert despite... whatever just happened. What happened? Magic. A ship. They were fleeing in a ship, and there were blood mages?

Whatever. What's important is that Anders is okay. And... Justice has a body?

Justice doesn't let go of Anders. It feels wrong to be separate, as unpleasant as being unable to control the body he was in was. Justice's head feels too lonely, and he's not sure if he could manage being apart more than they already are.

"How are you feeling?" On some level, Justice thinks he can sense the answer to the question, his spirit powers returning to him without a mortal mind to fuse with, but he wants to hear it. He wants to confirm that Anders is okay, because Justice feels awful right now.

"I'm okay," Anders replies. He's physically okay anyway. He'd gotten so used to having Justice be a part of him, so it doesn't feel right that they're no longer together, sharing a mind and a body. There was something oddly comforting in knowing that he was never alone.

Anders touches Justice's cheek, as if he's making sure the spirit is really here, and real. He's alive, certainly. Not like the rotting, cold flesh of Kristoff's corpse. He just knows that this is Justice.

The mage wraps his free arm around Justice, pressing their bodies together. He needs this closeness to Justice right now. "You're warm."

The affection is the closest thing they can have to the intimacy they had before now, so Justice welcomes it. He wraps his arms around around Anders, burying his fingers in yellow hair. Wrapped up together like this, the fierce separation anxiety calms in his chest, not quite as crushing as before. Somehow, physicality comes to him far more naturally now than it did while he was in Kristoff. Anders' craving for physical contact probably rubbed off on him.

"That is good to know." From anyone else, that might sound sarcastic, but Justice is sincere. He has no idea where this body came from or how it behaves. He has no idea if it's going to last or disappear in the next ten seconds. That it feels warm is new and potentially important information. "Can you hear a heartbeat?"

A heartbeat would imply that he has blood and a need for air, which in turn implies he may have other mortal needs as well, such as food or sleep.

Still keeping his grip on Justice, as if he's afraid he'll vanish if he lets go, Anders shifts a little so he can put his ear to Justice's chest. Sure enough, there's a heartbeat there. "Yes. There's a heartbeat, and breathing. You're alive."

It's comforting, in a way. Because that means that Justice isn't about to rot away before his eyes, and touching him won't feel creepy. He can actually touch Justice now. It doesn't quite match that intimacy that came with sharing a mind, but Anders intends to make due, and make the most out of this.

Shifting back up, Anders rests his head on Justice's shoulder and touches their cheeks together, even though his face still has some wet sand on it. It's only then that the full situation strikes him. "Where are we? How did we get here?"
whatisright: (Explaining)

[personal profile] whatisright 2018-04-09 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
A heartbeat. Justice doesn't know how to feel about that. Does he really have a fully functional body of his own? Anders is close, their cheeks together, and it's the only thing that keeps his head spinning away from him, firmly anchored by Anders' arms.

But Anders pulls his attention back to where it should be, which is figuring out what's happened and how to go from here. "I think we were on a ship. There were blood mages, and a fight."

Justice doesn't remember much, but maybe that's all he really needs to know for now. "We seem to be on an island. I did not see any signs of humans, elves, dwarves, or Qunari on the beach, but the island sings like lyrium. There must be deposits underground, or perhaps further inland. They would have to be sizable to hear them from here."
rebelhealer: (concern)

[personal profile] rebelhealer 2018-04-09 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The implication takes a moment before it fully hits Anders. Justice has a living body, which means that he has everything that comes with it. Justice has to eat, sleep, and all that. Justice has done all that through Anders, or at least watched through their eyes, which will hopefully save some trouble.

Anders doesn't dare let go of Justice yet. He wants to keep hold of the spirit for as long as possible, as if he can make them merge again by doing so.

"Maybe we can build a boat or something, and sail away." As if either of them know how to make a boat. "And maybe we should check out that lyrium situation while we're here."
whatisright: Humanized Justice (An almost smile)

[personal profile] whatisright 2018-04-09 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Neither of them know how to make a boat, so Justice decides not to try that unless there's truly nothing for them here.

"If there is lyrium, there may be an entrance to the Deep Roads." Which is also a last resort, considering how dangerous the Deep Roads are even if one has a map of them, let alone when one is wandering them blindly.

"We should focus on finding food and shelter first. Then perhaps think of how to escape." Although Justice doesn't move to stand up and start walking off the beach. He's too busy clinging to Anders, still trying to find his footing inside a body that's not his but no one else's either.

[personal profile] rebelhealer 2018-04-09 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's always the bloody Deep Roads," Anders grumbles. He hates the Deep Roads, as Justice is very well aware. The mage can only hope they're rescued before it comes to going down there.

"Let's hope this island actually has anything edible on it." Anders doesn't let up the embrace right away. To let go of Justice would be to admit that they're in separate bodies again. But he forces himself to release his friend and stand up. He's a little shaky on his feet, since he hasn't moved in a while.

"Maybe there's some branches or something we can use to build a shelter."
whatisright: (Deadpan stare but with a kind of smile)

[personal profile] whatisright 2018-04-10 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Justice doesn't like parting physically. It's like someone is ripping something from his chest, so he grasps Anders' hand, holding on to that thin physical connection tightly as he stands.

"I saw signs of clams on the beach," Justice says. "And it seems to be green inland. Perhaps we will find something else as well."

Justice doesn't really like the Deep Roads any more than Anders, and he hopes that someone will come to find them, but their first priority should be food and shelter. Maybe they will find a cave so that they will not have to worry about building their own shelter, but they will find a way to survive. They have each other, after all.

"I might be able to use ice and fire to make us fresh water, if we can't find a fresh source," Anders' fingers tighten on Justice's, holding onto him like a tether. "Let's hope some of the green on this island is at least edible."

Still holding onto Justice, Anders guides the two of them towards the jungle. So far he doesn't hear anything other than bugs, and the occasional bird. Justice is a comforting presence out here, and Anders is glad they're at least still together. Even if they aren't together.

Thankfully, it isn't long before they find a cave they can roost in. "Thank the Maker."
whatisright: Humanized Justice (Okay we need to talk)

[personal profile] whatisright 2018-04-11 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Justice sighs in relief, a habit he must have picked up from Anders, when they come across a cave in the jungle. Better yet, it doesn't have the itching feeling of darkspawn coming from it, so if it connects to the Deep Roads in any way, the darkspawn aren't anywhere near it.

"We should check it for spiders," Justice says, "but this will make for suitable shelter."

Justice would be more worried about spiders if they were two warriors, but they have magic on their side. Spiders never really held up well against being roasted alive.

[personal profile] rebelhealer 2018-04-11 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Good idea," Anders knows he should probably let go of Justice's hand, so he can cast spells easier. Yet he keeps hold of the spirit's hand, even tightening his grip a little as they go further in.

The mage summons a little wisp of light to illuminate the cave. So far, so good. Spiders are better than Blighted darkspawn.

Anders spots a small web. That means there is at least one spider in here. That it's just a single web and not a bunch of them suggests that there's likely only one or two spiders in here, and not a whole family or colony.
whatisright: (Explaining)

[personal profile] whatisright 2018-04-14 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Justice should let go of Anders. He doesn't have physical weapons, but his certain breed of magic does best when he isn't touching anyone. But he doesn't want to let Anders go. He'd prefer to forgo his own battle capabilities to give his power to Anders and maintain contact than try to separate and be weaker alone.

He nods when he sees the webs. Enough to keep an eye on, but not so much that they have reason to think they can't take on what's inside. Experimentally, he reaches out with his power, checking to see if he can still sense imprints left on his surroundings.

Anders' skin and coat sing the loudest, but the rocks remember the pitter patter of large, hairy feet.

"I think they are deeper inside the cave," Justice says. "And there may be deepstalkers. Be on your guard."
rebelhealer: (standing around)

[personal profile] rebelhealer 2018-04-14 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wonderful," Anders hates deepstalkers. Not as much as he hates darkspawn, but they're up there. But at least Justice only senses that, and not something a whole lot worse. And he can't sense darkspawn, which is a plus.

Still keeping his tight grip on Justice's hand, Anders guides them further down, raising his hand in preparation to cast spells. He can hear something skittering down there. As it gets darker, Anders summons a little wisp of light, to illuminate their path.

The deeper they go, the more he tells himself that he may need to let go of Justice, so they can both fight.
