The Slave Auction Meme

⧠Leave a comment with the character's name, fandom, and whether your character will be playing the part of 'slave' or 'master', plus preferences for scenarios if you have any.
⧠Respond to others with one of the scenarios below or feel free to make up your own.
⧠Please remember to be respectful of others while you play
Warning: Be aware that this meme deals with dark subjects like slavery and may also contain non-consensual/dubiously consensual sex, violence, and kink.
SLAVES
1. The Newbie - This is your very first auction and you don't quite know what to expect. Hopefully you remember your training and don't disgrace yourself in front of your new master. Hopefully someone thinks you're worth buying at all.
2. The Oldtimer - You've been bought and sold and bought again so many times. You've seen it all before and don't think this time is going to be much different. In fact, the only real anxiety you've got is whether or not someone's going to pay for a more than slightly used slave.
3. The Pet - You're a pleasure slave. A bed warmer. A decorative piece of artwork. You're meant to look pretty and be pleasing and not much else.
4. The Guard - Your master hired you because of your ability to swing a sword or shoot a gun, not your looks.
5. The Escape Artist - Somehow you always manage to squirm out of your master's chains. Too bad you seem to get caught after a while. Maybe your next daring escape will be permanent. Then again, maybe your next master has special ways of keeping you locked up.
6. The Undercover - You aren't a slave at all, you're just pretending to be one. Why? Well that's up to you. Either way, your cover is blown if you don't act the part.
7. The Specialist - You have a skill that no one else has. Something rare and valuable. Something your master needs more than anything else.
MASTERS
1. The Customer - You've owned slaves before and this trip to the market is nothing new to you. Still, you're hoping to find something worth your while.
2. The Gift - Someone bought a pet for you, isn't that nice of them? Or maybe it isn't so nice. Did you even want a slave in the first place? Well you're stuck with one now.
3. The Giver - You're selecting a slave for someone else, and they need to be perfect. Perhaps you'd better test them out first to make sure you're getting your money's worth.
4. The Trainer - You specialize in taming unruly slaves and making them over into perfect, obedient, well-trained pets.
5. The Rebel - You hate the idea of slavery, but the system isn't going to go away any time soon, so the next best thing is to buy up any slave you can get your hands on and free them, right?
6. The Companion - You want someone to be with you always, someone you can talk to and depend on, someone who will never leave your side. It's a good thing that money can buy that these days.
7. The Undercover - You're not actually a Master. You're at the auction for an entirely different reason. Maybe it's special policework, maybe you're trying to hunt down a certain someone. Either way, your cover is blown unless you act the part.
As always, feel free to use a combination of scenarios or make up your own if you have other ideas.

The markets, in Hemeda's opinion, were places for those who were too clumsy, destructive, or lazy to get their own pets, meals, or servants to go to. Let someone else do the hard work of capturing humans or lesser spirits, maybe train them if you sprung for the more expensive slaves.
Thus, usually she wouldn't bother to visit them; she was perfectly capable of charming or kidnapping her meals, as her fancy struck her. But market days were also a riot of entertainment and socialization, so when she found herself in the vicinity of one... Well, one could do worse than putting in an appearance at least. And she had an acquaintance or two who would always appreciate a gift.
So, originally, that was what had been her intention when she'd started to wander through the rows of individual merchants and peered into rooms with the larger or more exclusive auction blocks, but when she paused in the doorway of one room in particular, thinking the merchandise being led up on the stage might be a good gift, she instantly changed her mind when she got a good look at the wide, teary eyes over the heads of the crowd.
That one, she'd get for herself. At least to start with.
"Five enchanted rubies and a drop of lilin fire!" she yelled as she stepped into the room, easily being swallowed with how short she was, so it was doubtful the young woman on stage had gotten the chance to spot the latest party entering the bidding.

Or kill for. Her family had met their ends at the hand of bandits, and Sena sold into slavery in order to gain them even more fortune. Upon entrance, her dignity had been taken away as surely as her clothes and other possessions. She stood in front of the audience dressed in the customary slave garb; a tight-fitting burlap sack that harshly hugged every curve. Whereas the male slaves wore nothing on their upper bodies, the females had large V's cut into the upper cloth to reveal the middle of their breasts.
She's humiliated, and the tears in her large blue eyes betrayed the embarrassment that ran cold in her veins. Sena was rich and powerful, and yet here she was for sale like a common dog.
"You should all die!" She tried to maintain her composure, but the tears leaked down her cheeks.
"Seven enchanted rubies and hide from a wyvern's wing!
"I hate all of you!"
"Eight rubies, and three diamonds with the power to turn anything to ice!"
The bidding continued.
(ooc | I tried to bid too, but I'm sorry if any of that broke anything in universe)

Oh, she had fire, too. She would have felt sorry for the girl if she hadn't had enough potential wealth with her to keep up with the bidding now blossoming up around her. Quite a few - if not most people here - would delight in dousing that fire. Hemeda preferred to... go around such traits. It usually worked pretty well for her.
But that were things to consider for later, when she actually had the girl's collar in hand. She wasn't quite close enough to get a better look at the cleavage offered on view, and at this distance, even the tight burlap wasn't revealing much (atrocious and boring choice in dress, honestly. Could save themselves time and leave her naked). What she could see from here pleased her however.
"She's clearly ill-mannered, and not trained!" Hemeda yelled over the bidding, causing a fluctuating wave of silence to flutter through the crowd. Meeting the sour look of the auctioneer with a shameless grin, she cocked her head, dispassionately adding; "A vial of unicorn blood."
A few closest to her who'd been in on the bidding cursed and muttered; the interesting thing with bidding in supernatural markets weren't the solid worth of any given jewel or other ingredient, it was the rareness and the relative value to the seller as well. Derivatives of unicorn, though, were rather universal... and hard to come by.
"A seed from the peaches of immortality!"
Hemeda had to muffle a snort, as one of a few more offers were made; if that was even true, who was stupid enough to offer something like that up for a human slave who clearly had no inherent magic and wasn't trained? And you'd need to wait three thousand years, to boot!
"Sold to the lilin in the back!"
Humming to herself as the crowd parted to let her through to the stage, she pulled the items out of the bag by her side and handed them over to the annoyed auctioneer, taking the leash that led to the collar around the girl's throat.
"Don't cry, sweetie. It could be worse," she said with a quirk of a smile - neither malicious nor sugary, more like patient - as she gently tugged on the leash. "I think we shall get you some better clothes."

But that evening she was bored and in need of something new, and she'd be damned if anyone was going to try and tell her where she could and couldn't go.
Dressed down for the occasion -- as if casual wear could really mute her presence very much -- Claudia meandered among the other prospective buyers, her critical gaze drifting over the mortals on offer. So many humans were unremarkable from each other, she didn't know why she bothered... What's that now... A hint of something different in the air although she couldn't place precisely what it was. Her eyes shifted, instantly intrigued, and they came to land on a dark-haired male.
A slight gesture brought her guard to her side. "That one. Find out the asking price." Her attention remained on the man as her guard left to do her bidding. While she didn't know what was unique about him, she had no qualms spending the money to find out.
[Hope you don't mind a curious vampire.]

Ben had thought he'd been alone or he'd never have been playing around with levitating rocks on top of each other. He kept his powers to himself, preferring the anonymity of a normal life. But he hadn't been as alone in the woods as he'd thought. One of his friends had seen him. He'd known the moment his friend saw and tried to reassure him but his friend called some hunters he knew.
They had tested on him until they confirmed that he was simply a human science experiment and that they could not remove his powers. Then they handed him over to the slavers. They kept Ben drugged halfway to oblivion or he would have escaped by now. Everyone's thoughts echoed loudly through his mind but he couldn't focus to speak let alone to actually control his powers. Thankfully, they only wanted him to kneel. He didn't think he could stand long in this state. He barely looked up when heard her interest.
The guard came back with a ridiculous price for a starting bid. "He's dangerous. His previous owners just gave him to us, thankful to be rid of him. He tried to escape a couple times before we learned to keep him drugged. But he's our prize specimen. He has some kind of powers. If you can train him, he could be quite useful."

While she didn't bat an eye at the price, she did arch a brow at the information given. Simply looking him over the man didn't appear any more dangerous than any other mortal. Claudia knew as well as anyone that looks often were deceiving but in this instance it felt a benefit. The overly youthful and vulnerable up for sale tended to draw most of the attention, and this one's starting price would send other interested buyers looking for cheaper toys.
"If?" she couldn't help but echo and fought the urge to give the slave handler a look. That practically sounded like a challenge.
Mind already made up, she addressed the slave handler herself. "I'll give you triple to purchase him outright. If this human is truly as much trouble as you claim, you're not going to find a remotely close offer from anyone else here."
"Besides..." Claudia paused as she crouched down in front of the human for a better look. "Think of how much extra business you're going to field when people hear you made a sale to me." The comment was purely for the slaver's benefit, to help grease the wheels and get them seeing dollar signs, rather than possibly wondering at her interest.

The slaver opened his mouth, then hesitated, clearly debating if he should try to get more money out of her. "His powers make him exotic as well as dangerous. I know of many who would pay that for a chance to add him to their collection. His youthful looks add to that."
He paused, looking at Claudia closely. Then he pulled Ben to his feet by the cuffs holding his wrists together in front of him. "But I suppose, for you, I can accept that offer."
Ben cringed mentally as he heard her think of him as a challenge. He had hoped to avoid interest, to be worthless to these slavers, that maybe they'd release him if they couldn't profit from him. There was no hope of that now. He swayed slightly as he stood, managing to catch his balance in time.

Only reason he was at a slave auction, really.
There'd been murmurings - of a slave would made odd things happen. It was worth checking out.
Perfect
This time, he felt a familiar presence. He looked through the his bangs at the crowd, not sure if he should hope his brother was here or not. There, in the back of the crowd, he saw familiar dark hair but he couldn't see the person well enough to be sure.
