The HOLY GRAIL WAR Meme

Seven Masters, magi of the present day. Seven Servants, heroes of days past.One Holy Grail, granting whomever claims it a wish. Only one team of Master and Servant may claim it.
Who will it be?
For those unfamiliar with Fate/Stay Night or Fate/Zero, you can find a better explanation of the Holy Grail War here.

Instructions
1. Comment with your character. In the subject line, put that character's name, canon, and which role (Master, Servant, or either) you would like them to fulfill. Add other preferences if you would like. (NOTE: If your character can fill the role of Servant, I suggest you state which class(es) -- Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, or Berserker -- they fall into.)
2. Reply to others' comments. Pick your character's role (and the other character's if they list "Either" as their preference), then use the RNG to pick a scenario that fits the two characters' roles.
3. Enjoy! Though there might be triggers, depending on how the prompts are interpreted.


TWO MASTERS

1. Battle. Who says that Servants get to have all the fun? After all, most Masters try to kill each other, too. Whatever the circumstances, the two of you are locked in a fight. Neither of you are willing to use your Command Spells just yet, so no Servants here. Just two magi duking it out.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action aginst it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. Protection. Uh-oh! One of you has lost your Servant! Unfortunately, there's no way you'd get to the church safely on your own, so the other one will help you get there! Or maybe you don't trust the priest presiding over the Holy Grail War and are giving shelter to them yourself? Given their track record, no one would blame you.

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. You, Too? Surprise! You may have been friends before, but you've just discovered that you're both Masters! How will you handle this revelation?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!


MASTER AND SERVANT

1. Are You My Master? The summoning is complete. Whether intentional or not, catalyst or not, a magus has summoned a Servant. What kind of meeting was it? Was everything totally under control, or did a hitch occur? Or maybe it happened in the middle of a life-or-death situation!

2. Identity. Either the Servant has flat out told the Master their identity, or they unleashed their Noble Phantasm. Either way, the cat is out of the bag. How will the Master react, now that they know their Servant's name and legend? Will anything change between the two?

3. Battle Aftermath. A battle has just ended. Who participated? Are either of you hurt? Did the Master have to use a Command Spell? Any number of things could have happened here.

4. Discord. Uh-oh. It looks like the Master and the Servant don't get along. Here come the arguments! Don't do something stupid, like waste a Command Spell over a triviality...

5. Love. And then, there's the opposite. Sometimes Masters and Servants fall in love with each other. How will this affect things?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!


TWO SERVANTS

1. Battle. This is what usually happens when two Servants meet -- they duke it out. This probably says enough as it is.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action aginst it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. The Grail Dialogues. Maybe you're not interested in fighting just yet. Maybe you just want to sit down and talk with the other Servant. Find out what they want, what makes them tick. Get some wine while you're at it -- nothing like good wine to go with good talk!

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying...again. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in this War in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. Identity. Congratulations, you've just learned each other's identities! Will this change the situation, or will you press onward?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!

[There seems to be a lull in the fighting. For now, the servants have been given a chance to interact peacefully.

One particular servant has taken an interest in Seward the Assassin. A Beserker, a strange silver-haired fellow wearing an undone straitjacket, has perched himself backwards on a chair, letting his arms fold over the top of the back. He leers at the Assassin with tired eyelids and a knowing grin.

After a moment, he lets out a soft chuckle. What on earth could this fellow be thinking?]

[As a Master, fullname Etna Inessa Montebello Krichevskoy, she is a young magus born with high mana and skill into a very minor magus family and was given up to be adopted into a much more prestigious family that couldn't produce an heir--until a few years later, at which point they had a son. Even before he was born, other families were skeptical about having an adopted heir. She joins the Holy Grail War as victory would be an absolute way to prove her superiority as a magus and cement her position as heir...although in reality just wants to gain respect for both herself and the family without leading it, as she isn't interested in leadership.

As a Servant, she is a Lancer and based on the mythological Aetna, a child of the titans and mother to a pair of twin Underworld deities who lives on Mount Etna (named after her) which acts as a prison for the titans and a source of Zeus's lightningbolts. Like Euryale and Stheno, she is a goddess somehow summoned as a Servant. The volcano also has an entrance to Morgan le Fay's realm, supposedly; IDEK what to make of that, but working that in with any Arthurian Servants would be neat. She will like a high maintenance big sister: critical and self important, but interested in knocking her Master into shape, especially if they are inexperienced.]

[The small scouting party of Celtic warriors weren't much of a match for a Berserker, even one that wasn't known for her physical prowess like Nightingale. The strength and rage of Mad Enhancement gave her an advantage that mere shock troops couldn't match.

The problem being that this chase led both Nightingale and her unfortunate passenger far astray from their comrades. Geronimo might be able to track them down but she had gone quite a long ways into the desert. The nearest rendezvous point was hours away if she ran full tilt--something Rama most likely didn't want.

Though, there was something else that made Nightingale stop. Her gaze heads skyward.] Unacceptable. The march to the meeting ground must slow down--such a pace will lead to failure for the patient. That would be even more unacceptable!

[Those words are spoken aloud, perhaps without even meaning to. The dangers of the desert and of the heat are forcing themselves to the forefront of her mind even if such worries might not apply to Servants.]

Over heating leads to damage to the internal organs. The heart can't take any more strain--! The commanders will have to wait.

Servant: A wandering swordswoman who went down in history as much for her heroic deeds and swordplay as her ability to charm young women. [Master: A high ranking member of the church has been accumulating power in secret and has used that to create a homunculus capable of fighting in the Holy Grail War--this homunculus being Elphelt. She is exceptionally talented, but very sheltered. Her only purpose is to win the war for her mother and, in the process, sacrifice herself to allow her mother to make her wish to exterminate humanity. All she can hope for is to summon a Servant that will allow her to pretend she is loved and possibly experience romance before her life ends.

Servant (Berserker or Avenger): An artificial being created by an otherworldly entity for the sake of sating its hatred of the human race. Her creation was flawed, allowing her to reject her purpose well enough to prevent her from killing any humans before she herself was destroyed. She currently seals her true power away and using it will only be possible via Command Seal. Her Mad Enhancement causes her to firmly believe her Master--whether man or woman--is her husband. Wants to wish herself to become a real human girl.]

[Nightingale's own Master was a young mage. Barely twenty and with a rebellious streak a country mile long she thought that summoning a Heroic spirit with a military background would suit her best. Someone who would follow orders but not try to order her around. Summoning Nightingale as a Berserker should have given her such a Servant.

Her Master, though, underestimated the sheer iron will of the famous nurse turned into raw strength by the Grail. Which led to a tentative alliance with Caster's Master, who was Nightingale's former teacher.

Thus, the great detective and the nurse with a will of steel became allies at least for a short while. The two Masters were off discussing something this particular night, leaving the two Servants alone in the large estate. It should have been a quiet night.

Except the room being used as Holmes's study currently is under assault. The door is hanging dangerously off a hinge by the time Nightingale is inside the room. In one hand is a syringe.]

Detective! This--[She holds the needle aloft, clearly too affected by her own madness to realize it might be a bad idea.]--was in your room alongside other unsanitary things. It must stop.

Assassin: Default. Terrible at actually assassinating and presence concealment, but proficient at killing.

Saber: Slightly younger than his Assassin version as he came from a time before the guillotine was invented. A little less of a gloomy gus, believes deeply in the justice he brings, and can easily justify the need for an executioner in society. More idealistic than his Assassin self. Reference.

Master: The HGW has begun before or during the French Revolution, and takes place in Paris. As a Master, Sanson is proficient in earth magic, healing and regenerative magic, and necromancy. He can reanimate and manipulate the corpses of those he has killed, many of them protecting his mansion and his family. Unlike SOME DADS, he isn't in the business of giving away one of his sons to another magus family and raises both of them to become great magi.

His wish is for his sons Henri and Gabriel to never become executioners, because as society stands, there will be no other profession for them than that. Apart from being magi, anyway.]

[ cagey isn't exactly the right word for his Master, but it certainly isn't wrong, either. while she makes no effort to hide from him that she somehow isn't a human mage despite her involvement in the Holy Grail War, she also doesn't really give him straight answers about any of it, either. not that she doesn't try—occasionally she'll catch herself midway through an evasive non-answer, make a face, and actually tell him what he wants to know—but overall it's screamingly obvious that she fronts like another person might breathe: habitually and unconsciously.

...while this is unfortunate, considering they're to work together, it's also inconvenient on a personal scale. particularly when the atmosphere in her little apartment has suddenly gone absolutely thick with static for some mysterious reason, and her only response is to eye the frizzy puff his ponytail has become with something between amusement and over-the-top innocence— despite the fact he's seen her give off sparks and otherwise make clear she's got some sort of electrical deal going on. ]
