THE CRACK PAIRING MEME

An unusual relationship of any kind of fandom (i.e. books, television shows, movies, ect.) that is unlikely to happen.

Randomly take two characters… they don’t have to know each other, they don’t have to show ANY signs of a relationship, and hook them together. That is a crack pairing.

We all know them. Fandoms have fostered these little gems of shipping since the early days, and now, they can even be serious contenders in even the most hostile of shipping wars. Maybe they're absolutely ridiculous and only "for the lulz." Perhaps they make perfect sense...if you squint. Whatever the case may be, these so-called "crack" pairings are not canon and they're nowhere near as popular in fandom as the big fanon pairings.

Most of the time.

Of course, it's important to note that a lot of the time in RP, pairings are always crack pairings. Especially crossover ships, which canon purists would deride purely for being impossible. Still, in memes, that's less likely to happen because people either stick with canon ships, fanon ships, or close CR because of the lack of opportunities for development that games offer.

Not here. This meme is for ALL your ridiculousness, all your high school fangirl dreams, and just plain not being sorry for your ships. Think these characters would be cute together? Go for it. That character have adorable icons and that all you know about them? Ship it, by all means. Here, the reasons come after the desire.

RULES
- Comment with your character and preferences. If you want, you can include a one sentence or so blurb about your character. But blank comments are fine.
- Tag to others.
- RNG for prompts. Prompts cannibalized from random memes.

Sweet
1. Can't deny it - you've tried to run from your feelings for so long and you can't do it anymore. It's time that you show the object of your affection exactly how you feel. Hopefully you don't lose everything in the process!
2. First time - it's your first time making love together. Is it awkward? Do you go all out or is it spur of the moment?
3. Accidental - you didn't actually mean to confess or kiss. They overheard you or it was an accidental kiss. Maybe you were just really drunk and let it slip!
4. Close as can be - you just want to make love and you've found a spot where it's just you and your partner, however you want it to be.
5. Happily ever after - somehow, you've made it work and you're both happy together, even if it meant you had to run away together.
6. Appreciation - show appreciation for your lover! With words, a look, or whatever your choice way to display affection is!
7. Cuddling - nothing wrong with a day of cuddling...
8. Vacation - you're on a vacation! Wherever you want to be. Road trip, amusement park, Grand Canyon, etc.
9. Family - you're visiting family! Maybe they find out about your relationship, maybe they already know, or however you want to play it out! Maybe you've got news you're starting a family by getting pregnant, adopting, or even getting a new pet.
10. Acceptance - someone who disapproved of your relationship before suddenly approves. How's that feel to you and your lover?
11. Surprise - you've planned a surprise! What is it?
12. Date - first date, second date, hundredth date, etc. What are you doing for it?
13. Reunited → it's been awhile since you've seen each other and nothing can ruin this moment.

Angst
1. Conflict - you've just had a fight with your lover over your relationship or how you handle it. Can you find it in yourselves to forgive each other?
2. Cheated - your lover has cheated on you and you need to confront them about their reasons why and if you can work it out.
3. Found out - you've been found out by someone close to you and they're less than thrilled with your relationship.
4. Disgust - though they play along with it, they're secretly disgusted by the relationship they have with you and it finally comes out into the light.
5. Guilt - one of you is feeling guilty over your relationship, knowing it can never be truly normal or more than a secret.

Comfort
1. Soothing touch - what better way to sooth your lover than to make love to them and show them that no matter what other people say, you're not going anywhere.
2. Fight for you - whoever has found out about your relationship is trying to hurt your lover and you're not going to let them.
3. Won't let you go - you need your lover to realize that you won't let them go, no matter what.
4. Back together - you broke up for a bit, but whatever it is between you two, you can't stay apart.
5. Injured - your lover was injured because of your relationship and it's time to patch them up.

Twisted
1. Forced - you know your partner isn't interested in you like this, but you keep them going along with the relationship no matter what. Coercion, blackmail, whatever it takes.
2. Won't take no - their lips might say no, but you're not listening.
3. Control - you've given them some kind of potion to get your love interest to love you in return and they have to do whatever you say.
4. Recorded - you're not really interested in this forbidden love affair, but you must do it or you'll face some tough consequences.
5. Insult - you're cornered by those who disapprove of your relationship, hearing how filthy you are.

Sexy
1. Rough - you want it rough and hard tonight. Bites, scratches, bruises, etc.
2. Toys - you want to try some props tonight... toys or fuzzy handcuffs.
3. Bondage - more extreme. You're tied up, used, forced to orgasm, whatever.
4. Make up - make up sex is the best sex.
5. Public - you're feeling a little wild so why not a blowjob under the tablecloth in a restaurant or sex in the car?
6. Interrupted - oh yes, oh yes, oh--who the hell is that watching us?!

Ending
1. Left alone - you woke up to your lover trying to slip away in the night because of the strain of the relationship. Do you let them go or try and fight for it?
2. Torn apart - others are keeping you apart after they found out about your relationship, giving you only minimal contact. What do you do?
3. Ending fight - the argument has turned dirty and ends with one of you storming out.
4. Parting ways - both of you have decided to part ways. It's just so much easier.
5. Always love you - though you'll always love each other, maybe it's time the relationship goes back to being strictly platonic. It would be easier... or maybe that's just how one of you feels.

[ooc: You're in luck, because Finn here is from Skyrim. I'm thinking these two might be students at the mage college, or adventuring partners, and maybe something from the Sweet or Comfort prompts. Finn's the dragonborn, but I don't have to play him as such.]

[ooc: I'm down with them being students who ended up going adventuring if you like? Finn can be dragonborn and Anders can just travel with him making jokes about it. I'm also fine with doing a couple of prompts if there's any you'd like to play around with in particular, or otherwise we can randomise it and see what happens.]

Riften was a lovely town, if didn't take into account the local thieves or the seedy underbelly. Thankfully the cutpurses knew better than to mess with a pair of mages. It wouldn't have been the first place Finn chose to take a much needed stop, but it was close to where he and Anders been wandering.

"You know, if I never see another falmer again, it'll be too soon."

Finn bought a pair of apples and held one out to Anders. Their last adventure had taken them into a dark cave, which had of course turned out to be a falmer den. Finn did not like falmer. They gave him the creeps, to put it mildly.

"Give me giant spiders or dragons over those things any day."

Anders was largely grateful to have open sky above them again, though he couldn't resist a teasing laugh at Finn's words. "And who's idea was it to go charging in to investigate the stories of missing villagers in the first place?"

Grinning, he slung an arm around Finn's shoulders and plucked the apple from his grip, taking a bite out of it before gesturing grandly with hand and apple. "You forget, oh Great Hero, that you wanted to find out what was going on. I'd have been happy minding my own business out here in the fresh air. You know how I feel about caves."

He knew as well how his friend felt about the falmer, which was perhaps why he was going a little bit heavy-handed with his commentary, but it seemed better than letting Finn dwell on what they'd been through.

"Dragons at least involve a lot of open air, though I could do without them swooping down out of nowhere," he continued, smiling sidelong at Finn. "Plus then you get to do that voice thing of yours."

"I don't remember you stopping me," Finn quipped, leaning into Anders a little when the other mage put his arm around him. "As if you didn't want to make sure the disappearances stopped too."

He was pretty sure they had put a stop to it. Finn knew how Anders didn't like caves, so he appreciated that he come down there with him anyway. Restoration wasn't Finn's strong suit, unlike with Anders. Plus, he liked having someone to watch his back. Even if the dunmer did get them into these situations.

Not to mention he appreciated Anders lightening the mood.

"Can you imagine if we did find a dragon in, say, a dwemer ruin?"

"Yes well, I never said I was much better at making smart choices either," Anders retorted with a snort of amusement. "But it's easier when I get to blame you for it all."

The mental image of trying to fit a dragon in those narrow confines (the memory of which made him tense up just a little) earned another laugh, Anders trying in turn not to focus too much on the memories which unsettled him.

"It'd either be a very easy battle for us or it'd end up bringing the entire cavern down on our heads. Personally I'd prefer the former."

He gave Finn's shoulders a brief squeeze before loosening his grip, arm sliding down his back and lingering for just a moment at the other man's waist before he pulled away. He flashed another wide, easy smile, all self-assurance and treading the edge of flirtation - both sure signs for any who knew him that it was more faked than anything. A familiar smile to hide the real concerns that still lingered at the back of his mind.

"I'm glad you were with me though. You're right, I would have probably gone in there on my own if you hadn't suggested it and one of me and all those falmer might not have turned out as well."

"Better yet, get the automatons to help us fight it. The dragon would probably destroy them, but hey, they'd wear it down for us."

Finn found himself wanting that hand to stay, and once it was gone he missed it. How many times had those hands fixed up his wounds? Finn preferred to fight from the back with magic, or from the shadows, but sometimes things got close enough to him to hurt him.

"I'd never let you go into down into a place like that alone. Those falmer would have to cut my ears off before I let them get you."

"I suppose then I'll have to make sure you don't go rushing off anywhere dangerous on your own either," Anders sighed somewhat overdramatically, linking arms with Finn and leaning against his shoulder. Then, unable to resist the opportunity, he reached up with his free hand and caught the tip of one long ear between his finger and thumb gently.

"I happen to rather like you with ears, after all."

He let go immediately, not wanting to overstep too far if he could help it, but didn't move away; he trusted that if he did do something to upset Finn, the other man would let him know one way or another.

"But what's the plan now, oh great hero? Are we going to find somewhere to rest or keep pressing on? Or perhaps a bath? I for one would like the chance not to smell like falmer guts for a little while."

Finn giggled when Anders gently pinched his ear. Anders' humor was too infectious sometimes. That and Finn had to admit to himself more than once that he liked it when Anders touched him, even if it was just a playful little touch.

"Well, between the falmer, running away from bears, and the long hike through the woods, I'd say this dragonborn and his very best companion deserve a much needed rest. Including a bath."

Guiding Anders towards and into an inn he knew to be on the level, Finn had to reluctantly unlock arms with Anders so he could pay the Argonian innkeeper for a room. He even paid extra for a room with its own bath.

Once they were upstairs, and settled in, Finn sat on one of the beds, running a hand through his black hair. "You can have the first bath. I think you stepped on a chaurus carcass down in that cave."

Anders wrinkled his nose and laughed at the comment, turning away from inspecting the room to pull a face at his companion. "Don't remind me, I can still feel whatever it was giving way when I put my foot down, and the smell..."

He shuddered and wasted little time in pulling his boots off to set them as far away from the pair of them as possible. "I hope it comes out somehow, since it'd be a shame to burn my only pair of boots."

Slipping out of his coat and undershirt next, Anders set them on the bed and turned his attention to the bath. It was, he reflected, something of a good thing that he and Finn were used to spending time travelling together for the bath was simply a large tub tucked behind a screen in the corner of the room filled with warm water that had cooled somewhat since it had been lugged to their room. A flicker of magic had it steaming again in no time and Anders favoured Finn with a wide grin and a wink as he tossed aside his trousers and strode - strutted really - past in smallclothes only.

"You know," he called out, testing the water before sinking in with a groan that bordered on the obscene. "You could always join me. Shame to miss out on all this."

"I'll say," Finn agreed. "I like your boots. Practical and stylish." Though, given how much gold Finn tended to earn or find on his adventures, he could easily offer to buy Anders a new pair that looked just like his current ones.

Then again, the Dunmer usually just repaired any damage to his robes rather than spend gold on buying new ones.

Red eyes fixed on Anders as the other mage stripped down. Anders really did have a nice body. Not like the over muscled warriors Finn ran into all too often here in Skyrim. At the suggestion, he grinned. "Don't mind if I do."

Finn stripped himself down, setting his robes aside. The elf was all lean muscle, like many mages who doubled as adventurers. He also had a notable burn scar on his side, courtesy of his first battle with a dragon. He had gotten it before he'd met Anders, so he hadn't had the other man's healing hands to keep away any scars. Finn slid into the tub along with Anders, giving a content sigh.

buuut just going to leave this here even though it's the weirdest idea: i'd kill to play out a ship/fluff/even smut idec with an arthur curry from dceu. mostly because i'm fresh off of justice league and the "little merman" line spoke to my soul like that. besides, king of the ocean? princess of the sea? "bad" boy/sweet girl dynamics, it's all calling my name. only a truly ridiculous crack ship can truly scratch the itch. ]
