» Assassin: You are someone who fights to safeguard free will to make peace. You want to sit back and let sides choose what they do; you just strike down those who force choices or control others. You abide by the Creed: stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent, hide in plain sight, and never compromise the Brotherhood. Assassins try to keep Pieces of Eden (artifacts that are capable of bending the thoughts of individuals to the holder's will) out of Templar hands in an effort to protect free will.

» Templar: You are someone who fights to secure control to make peace. You believe people cannot be trusted, are too self-absorbed, or too ignorant to make their own decisions. Pieces of Eden are sought after by Templars to secure control over the masses. Some, already in Templar hands, are passed down from member to member to maintain or gain control. There are no known rules for Templars and no guide they abide by; most seem to move on their own or within private organizations.

» Affiliated: You are not an Assassin or a Templar; but you assist one of them.

• Thief: You are part of the thief guild. You may be allied with the Assassins, you may be allied with the Templars, or you may be completely independent. You tell your fellow thieves everything; they safeguard your life and you safeguard theirs. Thieves are generally well-informed about a city's whereabouts, and know what events are happening where. This, however, does not mean you have to give this information easily. Thieves free-run over rooftops as well as Assassins.

• Courtesan: You are part of the courtesan faction. You may be allied with the Assassins, Templars, or be independent. A courtesan is high-ranking, well-spoken and educated; at many times, they can be mistaken for normal citizens. Courtesans gather information from their (usually affluent) clients and act as distractions or as masks. They do not share the same strict code of conduct that thieves do; they can be honorable or steal their fellow courtesans' clients. Courtesans do not free-run, but can be armed with short blades or bladed fans.

• Romani: You are part of the Romani; commonly mislabeled as "gypsies". You may be allied with the Assassins, Templars, or you can be independent from either faction. Like courtesans, they help distract with street performances, ranging from playing music, firebreathing, and dancing (even flirting). Many Romani have firm rules regarding their culture and are very protective of it, given the group has a variety of ethnicities. Romani cannot free-run and are unarmed, quickly fleeing the area if a fight arises.

• Mercenary: You are part of the mercenary guild. Mercenaries fight for their cities, but can also be allied to the Assassin or Templar cause. They are able to provide distractions, as well as fight alongside their allies. Some mercenaries have a kinship with each other; others do not. They wield heavy weapons and cannot free-run. If bothered by idle street performers, they will aggress.

• Vigilante: Vigilantes are groups of individuals who generally ally with anyone who serves their community or family. Some groups are made of the friends or family members of citizens who were rescued; others are made of those who want change and rally in the streets to support whomever served their community. They will shout at opposing factions, as well as thank and aid their allies.

• Scholar: Scholars usually move in small groups, in and around cities. They are usually men or women deep in prayer, and usually hide allies because a fellow scholar was rescued. They assist their allies by weaving them through heavily guarded areas without being seen. They are also frequently visited by either faction to gain information; it is not uncommon for an Assassin to be sent on a mission to study with a scholar.

» Other: Maybe you're caught up in all of this. You don't want to play with either side. You're just a bystander, watching this all unfold. Or are you a double agent, with no true affiliation but yourself?

RNG OPTIONS

1. Training. Do you know how to steal, thief? What about interrogate? Man, how can you be an Assassin if you don't even know how to free-run and parkour? Looks like you need to be dragged back for some extra training before you get yourself killed out there.

2. Making Alliances. You need information to take down this guy, so you need to find someone who's willing to get it for you. Maybe you're out of luck and need to start making some friends who have your back before you do anything else. Or you have the information--and you know it's going to be in high demand. Who do you go to?

3. Enemy Avoidence. Oh, shit. Looks like your target or enemy caught wind that you were in town. It's time to lay low, gather intel, and try to rethink your next move. ... on the other hand. Maybe it's time to strike, before they start fleeing.

4. Missions. Looks like the boss man is sending you to go strike some fear into the populace. Looks like you're sent into another country to do some surviellence work. Just remember: when you come back, you're just going to be one step higher on the ladder. That'll make it worthwhile, right?

5. Journey Start. You have something to take care of, on your own. It's personal, now, and nothing's going to stop you. Someone messed up along the way (was it you? was it someone else?) and it's up to you to set things right again.

6. The Big Finish. You're coming back home; and man, are you a different person. Killed someone that got to you, saw something you shouldn't have...? What's up and why are you not the way you were before? What's more--how are you going to cope?

7. Wildcard! RNG again, make up your own scenario, or try a mix of any of the above.

[Ah, Paris. Wonderful architecture, better wine, and swarming with goddamn Templars. Troublesome, to say the least. If Liquid was to describe it in less uncertain terms, his assessment wouldn't exactly have been fit for the faint of heart or those sensitive to dramatic shouting.]

[Oh well. It couldn't be helped that the Templars had taken Paris, but he could sure as hell change that now. First things first; find those who could point him in the right direction. Stumbling through unfamiliar territory blindly was ill-advised, especially so far behind enemy lines.]

[Doubts, hm? That's a shame, because the one that's currently stalking you has no doubts about what he's had to do in the name of free will. Controlling people, making them less than what they could be, all for the sake of a peace that would crumble as soon as the pieces of Eden were out of their control. Utter control was never the way to make people happy and content, and to be sure, it would never grant real peace. Free will might be innately more sloppy, but at the very least, it was what people could chose for themselves.

[A novice assassin has been temporarily parked at Leonardo's, pretending to be his apprentice until things blow over. The young man has certainly accomplished something astounding, bringing down not just one, but three templars in one night on his first mission. He did demolish a building while he was at it, though, and cost the city a great deal of guards. Explosions and the resulting fire will do that. There were astonishingly no civillians harmed, but all the same, that's entirely too loud and flashy, even if it took care of a templar meeting place.

"Michele," as he's called for now, regrets absolutely nothing, refusing to see what the problem is.
... Which, come to think of it, is probably why he is to remain under cover.

At least he's a brilliant young man, even if he doesn't have that much of an eye for art. He's likely poring over one of Leonardo's new designs, wondering how to make it work, and taking notes of his own.]

[ OPTION ONE: Templar
Yes, he's a Templar. It's something that's difficult to avoid when you come from an entire family of them. They're a sprawling lot, powerful and outwardly deeply religious. Many members involved in the upper echelons of the Church somehow, but most of them are really just paying lip service.

Castiel? Well, he takes his faith more seriously than most of them, but he genuinely does believe in the Templars' stated goal and motives. Peace is a noble goal, right? But he has questions, he has his doubts. It's difficult to carry on turning a blind eye to some of the things going on right under his own nose. ]

[ OPTION TWO: Assassin
The inevitable result of all that doubt as soon as someone or something gives him a big enough push. Previously with the Templars, he had enough and defected to the other side because free will for all is a much more attractive option. Currently in training to pick up Assassin techniques, seeing as how a Templar fighting style isn't much use for sneaking around killing people stealthily. Probably valuable to the Order for his insider's information re: the Templars, but he wouldn't blame them for not trusting him. ]

And now you still have to pick, but I'd say 1.

[St. Michael's is a beautiful church. Even Mello agrees, and he's seen a lot of them. It's not as big as all that, but there are just enough people to make the place look full, so it's all the same to him.

[--it depends on the year; on the reigning monarch and the elected PM; on a lot of things, actually, but as the embodiment of a nation and most connected with his people as a whole, england has seen quite a lot of things in his time. he's done quite a few things too. whatever one might think of him as a nation, or of arthur kirkland as a person, much of what he can do is simply stand and watch while factions play out their wars. his duty as a nation, regardless of his own feelings, is almost always priority.

he must follow where his leaders take him--through hell and back. and as the compass by which those captains steer, he's vitally important to them--a possible target, asset, or threat to them or others; nearly immortal and of greater strength, stamina and arcane ability than any human; connected to his land and citizens and economy but still composed of flesh and blood.]

[ he's a hacker for the Assassins, mostly, although he's got his fair share of field missions under his belt. computers and information are his real fortes, though. "The Doctor" is just a code name, of course. he's not quite sure how he got it, but it seems to have stuck and it's a well-known moniker in this world of Assassins and Templars.

the point is, he is almost fiendishly good at his job, if he does say so himself. he hasn't quite cracked the big Abstergo mainframe yet, but it's on his to-do list. what he has cracked, however, is a fairly fascinating file from a British branch of the Templars that warrants more investigation.

Donna isn't the first, but she's definitely... well, the kindest phrase he could use would be "one of the most challenging". but she's also got promise - real promise - and she can't go back into the real world now, not when Abstergo would snap her up for who knows what as quick as anything for what she knows.

[ Thieving isn't the best job in the world. Honestly, if it weren't for the Guild, Kate wouldn't bother. She quite likes the Guild, with all the information and trust built into it. It means she always has knowledge in her pocket and a place to run back to.

She runs a lot. She's not exactly known for being the most subtle of the Thieves, with her bright pink hair and love of the chase. The thing is? She could be subtle, if she wanted to be.

She never does, preferring thrills and fast speeds when she has to work.

And when she isn't working, she's found sitting out in all sorts of places, leaning out and letting the sun bathe her in warmth upon the rooftops or on the benches. Today's choice was a bench, hot and smooth - the wood is well-sanded (not all of them are) -, as she watches the crowd, waiting for the tell-tale uniform of the Assassins.

She can't quite believe there's something her Guild doesn't know, but they'll find it out soon enough. ]
