The premise of the meme is simple. Two characters, lovers, have been separated for a time. How long is up to you, as is the reason for the separation. Was it unwilling - an imprisonment, a required journey - or because of a choice one of the characters made? The reason may, of course, color the reunion, and somebody may be pretty miffed, with good reason. Still, the theme is the same: intimacy after being apart.
This meme is mostly geared towards being a smut meme, but nobody will judge you for just doing so heavy fluff.
[So, I'm not suuuper canon-familiar because I got distracted and stopped watching the show during season 1 at some point (I don't mind spoilers, though) but would you care for a cool-headed,soft-hearted soldier (with incidental Lich powers) for Keith? I can imagine that Keith would probably be the one returning if only because Dyluck's world doesn't even have space travel.]
Kaz hated and loved the damnable ship Inej called home now. Hated that it took her so far from him. Loved that she truly had her freedom. That was how he showed he cared. Kaz wasn't one for soft words. He was a man of action.
Though he needed her skills and was sorely missing his Wraith, the thought of keeping her caged in Ketterdam made him feel dirty in a way that wasn't useful to him. It was the kind of stain you wanted to wash off but couldn't. Like his brothers death. Kaz had to let her go because he loved her. Just as he had found her parents, to show her how he felt.
For the months she was gone he was more quiet than usual. His words quick and clipped. Face rarely seen outside of his office. He had the perfect view of the port where her ship would land from behind his desk.
Right now he couldn't tear his eyes away from the water. The sails flapped. The bow of the ship came into sight. He was on his feet in an instant. Someone was already calling up the stairs that her ship had been spotted. He would have yelled back that he already knew but he didn't want them to know he was watching.
"I'll be back." His gruff voice spat out the words as he limped down the stairs.
"Kaz!" A voice called out from two flights up. He stopped and turned to look. Something was thrown at him. Reaching out caught the cane before it could hit him.
His pace was brisk. Eyes focused. He hardly noticed anyone else on the streets. Even when he heard his name spoken.
"Hey, Sabine! Did you miss me?" Okay, so Ezra probably makes for a pretty sorry sight after having to dig himself out of the rubble of an attack, and then having to hitchhike back because his speederbike got caught in the blast, but he still manages to give the prettiest girl on Lothal what he thinks is a dashing, smooth grin.
Never mind his torn, dirty clothes or the scrapes and bruises on his body. Never mind that he hasn't been able to contact anyone for days and it's been driving him a little crazy not to be able to reassure them that he survived, and to reassure himself that they're fine, too. Never mind that Sabine's probably just going to roll her eyes at his attempt to be suave.
Never mind, because right now, in this moment, all is right with the world.
Sabine hasn't felt this particular blend of relief, exasperation and horror since that time Tristan went missing during training maneuvers. She'd spent a day furiously deconstructing a series of canvases so distract herself from going over all the worst-case scenarios. But a training accident isn't an Imperial ambush, and Ezra's been gone for thirty six hours.
She'd thought she was done with little brothers when she defected. Then Ezra happened. Her opinion about that changes as often as her hair.
"You look like you've been mauled by a rancor!" she shoves away from the holodisplay she's been repairing and rushes over, her sharp tone and scowl a contrast to how carefully she pats him down, checking for fractures or hidden injuries.
[ When he wakes up, Steve isn't there. Nothing new there; Steve was never around when Bucky came out of deep freeze. It's just the Wakandan scientists, princess Shuri, and a tech or two. After that, he's working on his PTSD (or whatever it's called) and getting his aura fixed in a secluded hut by the water. After that he takes note of the passage of time and learns that Steve, the Widow, Bird Guy, all those that took Cap's side were off saving the world in secret. That too, is no surprise, given that Steve never could sit still or hang back while he thought there were injustices to be righted.
So he waits a little longer, feels the last foggy mists clearing out of his mind, and gets a new arm. Weird, how not having the bionic appendage actually made him feel more whole than any time with it. But this one is new, better, stronger, and wasn't crafted by Soviet deep-cover operatives. That's a bonus. Bucky goes on trial runs, testing its strength and reaction times, getting used to the weight of it.
It never even crosses his mind to leave Wakanda. Not that he would really be allowed in any other country friendly to the United States, but this small nation took him in and repaired him, rehabilitated him. It's beautiful, wise, and generous. He owes a debt that couldn't be repaid in any of the dozens of lives he's lived.
And it's one afternoon, when he's just getting in from a jog (and half-excuse to check any possible entry points) that he sees a familiar silhouette, backlit near the shoreline. Steve. T'Challa must have told him where to find Bucky. It's been literal years, and Bucky can't wait to fill in all the time. ]
Too good for razors, now?
[ A half-grin on his face, as he approaches for a hug, looking fresh, healthy, and happy. ]
[Seeing Bucky again is like a balm to his soul, easing wounds Steve didn't even know were there. Ever since Siberia, he's felt tired and empty, almost going through the motions. Sure, he's still doing undercover work, but he does it because he has to keep moving. He doesn't know what'll happen if he ever stops.
He's not wearing the altered uniform at the moment (Nat makes fun of him for the way it looks); there's no need to right now. He's just wearing a t-shirt and jeans, looking, for once, like any other person.
And Bucky - god, Bucky looks good, the ghosts that had lingered in his eyes even before the train faded, the gaunt look in his face gone, his hair shining in the sun. He's not the Bucky he remembers from before the war, but he's a new Bucky, one who seems healthier, more whole.
Honestly, he looks better than Steve himself does right now.
Steve cracks a smile, one that actually feels genuine for the first time in god knows how long, and wraps Bucky in a hug. Something about the way they fit together just feels right, and he's reluctant to let go.]
Just thought I'd see what all the fuss was about. Everyone else seems to have a beard these days.
