How It Works

Sometimes, memes can be awkward. There's always that feeling that, if you don't know the person behind the curtain, you'll be intruding somehow. Don't worry. We've all been there. Still, it's nice to have that little reassurance that hey, it's cool. We're all in this together and we just want to play. That's where this meme comes in! The point here is to play with someone you've never played with before, OR play with a character/canon you're unfamiliar with. The prompts provided include mundane activities, chance meetings, platonic fluff, romance/smut, fighting, and crack. This is pretty much the granddaddy of meme variety, so there should be something for just about everyone. INSTRUCTIONS - Comment with you character(s). Ash was sitting at the bar, nursing a glass of scotch as he waited for this new mark of theirs to show up. Mickey and Albert said that they'd heard about her from some friend of Albert's, only no one had managed to get a picture of her, so they'd sent him to track her down, see if he could pin down her schedule, likes and dislikes, stuff like that. So here he was, waiting to see if one of his tips would pay off.

For a consulting detective, Sherlock has a slightly shocking number of criminal contacts, many of them grifters. The pass-it-on method of communication works well for her, meaning that she can plant rumours amongst her own contacts and then let them take their natural course, cultimating in -- well, this. Sherlock could hardly attach her real name to the rumours (she might not be famous yet, but she's got an online presence and she doubts Ash is stupid), so she's here as one Susheela Sigerson -- technophobe, eccentric, miserly with her inherited money and always on the lookout for more to hoard.

Regrettably, the grapevine can't convey much of an accurate picture, or not as accurate as Sherlock would like, so when she steps into the bar she does it blind. There's a moment which doesn't look quite right on a supposed reclusive heiress in which her eyes flick over everybody there as she observes, deduces, calculates. And then she's perfectly in character once more, and setting off for the bar.

Of course, the scarcity of information on Ms Sigerson means Sherlock's free to act more or less as she pleases; 'unpleasant eccentric' isn't exactly difficult for her, anyway. The woman she's pretending to be admittedly has a lot more patience for jewellery than she does, but aside from that, there's a great deal of overlap. For instance: the first thing she does when she reaches the bar is not order a drink or engage Ash in any kind of conversation, but slam her arm down, shove her sleeve up her arm and apply a nicotine patch in silence.

[ Roxas was feeling hurt and dejected. Xion was missing and Axel had just effectively turned his back on him in favor of the Organization. There weren't words to express his frustration and sense of loss. The only feeling he had to go with now was just that he wanted to get away from all of this... from Keyblades and Heartless and Nobodies. From where he stood, there literally was nothing for him left.

But as he walked through Twilight Town sulking, he stopped when he noticed a particular fixture. He couldn've sworn that Market Street never had that odd blue booth on it before. Let alone had he ever recalled mention of police around the town.

Curiosity overwhelmed his despair as he investigated the structure, finding its doors securely locked. Yet locked doors on something seemingly so out of place only begged for him to learn more about it, which wasn't happening on the outside. So if the doors were locked...

He steps back and draws his Keyblade in a flourish of light before leveling the business end at the doors of the strange booth. ]

[The Doctor clears his throat. On most days, he looks like any other traveler. Today, he needed to go acquire a few things before he started his journey. In particular, he needed three chickens and his favorite hair cream. Chickens were pretty easy to acquire, but the hair cream---well, he only had the specific one he liked, and while maple syrup had been sufficing, it was attracting far too many bees for his liking.

So, when he'd gone out and acquired the chickens, he was pleased to see that they were really rather friendly, and followed him without too much fuss, apart from one in particular who was very fussy and needed to be carried. And when he'd come back, he saw---well, he saw this strange man holding a giant key-thing at the TARDIS.

Odd. He must've been able to look past the perception filter. Not many could do that.

So, see the Doctor: Standing with two chickens at his feet, one in his hand holding a bag of hair cream, and eating a hot pastry---that is, the Doctor was eating a hot pastry, and is now clearing his throat and glaring a bit.]

Not about to stab an innocent phone box, are you?

It didn't mean anything. All the same, standing in front of his new bed as Ida Scott showed him and Rose to their new quarters...well, he was finding it all a bit hard to swallow.]

[Waking up, it appears, would be the most difficult thing. He feels groggy, heavily drugged. It explains why he's here, in this bed, rather than being back at Baker street. The bed is significantly more comfortable than the bed he sleeps on in Baker Street, mind, but it's not his. And there's a woman in the bed next to him. He looks her over, quickly.

Late thirties, middle class, straightens her hair, infrequently wears makeup, worked at a desk but doesn't anymore, constant runner. Obvious.

As for where they are...the room is set up, it appears. Specifically set up. Never lived in before. It's obvious from the lack of dust. Dust is eloquent.]

[Well. It's technically hitchhiking if it's through the desert, by camel. So it might be more accurate to say the story is starting with Sherlock faking his own death, but either way, the story really starts when his little party makes a wrong turn into territory they shouldn't go to, out on the sand.

Somewhere, two versions of the Doctor are doubtlessly charging around the TARDIS console, insulting each other's appearance and being frightfully clever. But here, you have opened a door and found yourself in the TARDIS library, where a bearded man (or man-shaped being) sits with a glass of wine and a le Carré spy novel.

"Dear me. Another one?" says the Master, looking up from behind the pages. The Doctor has just acquired one young Earth female. Has having a new companion after so long gone to his head and started him on some sort of human-collecting bender?

The pleasantries must be observed, however. He rises to his feet, setting the glass and book down, and bows slightly to her, with a faint accompanying noise of gears grinding. "May I assist you in finding your way, my dear Miss...?"

Charisa had finally gotten most of the bit items moved in, though none of them were in place instead they were strewn about the living room. With a sigh she flopped down on the sofa and pulled her legs up, a nice breeze flowing around her via the open front door as she took a moment to relax. She had sent her help home early, now only have to deal with the smaller items which would go quicker on her own.

After a moment she sighs and puts her boots on the ground before getting up and marching out the front door and toward the small U-Haul only to vanish from sight rather quickly as she hops into the back of it for a couple boxes.

"Wait!" Ken made a rush down towards the train as fast as he possibly could without tripping and braining himself on the bottom of the steps -- but it was no use. The doors chimed once, then closed. The train pulled away just as he got to the platform.

He sighed, narrow shoulders slumping a little. Then he turned, looking around for a station attendant or someone nearby. "Excuse me," he said, in a manner that was astonishingly polite for an eleven-year-old, "Do you know when the next train to Iwatodai is?"
