more than E X P E R I M E N T A L In this laboratory setting you've found yourself in - be it a shady, fly-by-night hackjob, a secret governmental facility, or a sleek, state-of-the art facility - there's no room for error. What's done is done for science: pure, perfect, uncorrupted by human foibles. Data is the only language spoken, reason the guiding light. And for all this progress to occur smoothly, everyone must know their proper role, from the specialists at work to the lowly crew...and, of course, any experiments involved. Some more bleeding hearts would feel sorry for the latter, but make no mistake, they're little more than lab rats. They are not to be pitied. Emotion shouldn't even be wasted on them. Especially not an emotion as messy and useless in and of itself as romantic love. Why, you wouldn't want to jeopardize the breakthrough of the ages on account of some fairy tale, would you? Besides, it would be the most unfulfilling of relationships, for you could never be with your beloved test subject. Unless. Unless you broke them out. Such an action would be highly illogical and, more importantly, met with severe punishment. Are they worth all that? How to Play - Your character is either some sort of test subject/creature/weapon/misunderstood and otherwise tortured prisoner of science OR an outside party (scientist, doctor, janitor, visitor, journalist, sky's the limit). They meet their opposite. They fall in love. Bad Shit happens. Nobody's happy. - Comment with your character, preferences, role, info, all the good stuff. - Reply to others. - Be tragic and miserable together.

It's not the Inquisition, there's no silver eyes on the wall to blind and burn him, and no one has tried to vivisect him yet, but it doesn't matter. Belimai isn't feeling optimistic about what the people who threw him in this room have planned for him. It's bad enough that he's trapped, imprisoned again with no visible means of escape. There are no windows for him to slip out of, the cell seems to be underground, and he's not so skinny that he can slip through the iron bars yet. He wouldn't trade the gift of flight for anything in the world, but the longer he's stuck in the cell, the more he's beginning to wish that he was gifted with the strength to bend the bars and make a run for it.

The panic has been rising in him for quite some time now. It's not the same, but he can't help but think back to his time with the Inquisition and the torture he endured at their hands. It makes his scars itch. Or perhaps that's the withdrawal from the ophorium he's starting to feel.

He calls out to anyone who might hear him, curses eloquently, has some choice words about his unknown jailer's mother, and paces frenetically. When he's too tired to move any more, he just collapses into a dark corner of the cell, where the light doesn't hurt his eyes so much, yellow eyes staring balefully at the bars that separate him from freedom.

open to actual monsters, 'human' threats (aka x-men, other mcu science experiments, etc) or even some sort of mundane prisoner situation. for anyone unfamiliar with will's canon, he works for the fbi in capturing murderers, so he could easily be contrived into having access to a place where Mysterious Captured Person is being held, or even have been involved in the capture itself.

i would love will's empathy causing him to connect with the trapped character, and him breaking them out. would love to start somewhere in the middle of the action with some assumed CR; whether or not they're 'close' or will just couldn't stand to see them imprisoned anymore after minimal actual contact can be up to you. feel free to PM me for plotting or just slam something down. ]

Perhaps they had to recruit Will because Anderson just runs rings around everyone else trying to question her due to being an actual telepath, lol, so someone who can sort of read her back is necessary. idk spitballing here.

{ Ambrose is a vampire buried away in 1840 and remains trapped until archeological surveyors dig him and a couple other vampire fledglings up, initially supposing they're mummified remains. The fate of those guys is unclear, but Ambrose is awakened in a lab and originally escapes -- but I would love to play a setting where he either fails at escape, or is recaptured later, and kept for studying. Perhaps the other fledglings simply didn't survive the wait and starvation, or perhaps they were also kept as test subjects and were...unfortunate trial runs that didn't run for long. Info and etc on journal! Unintended heart to hearts, unexpected escape plots, or extending some pity and giving him a consensual feeding from your character are the first things that jump to mind, but I'm open to any ideas! }

Lee's never let someone else's opinion control her own. Inform it, sure. Fill her with prejudices it might take her a few days, weeks, even months to question - it's happened. But in the end, she always has to take issues into her own hands. Lee always has to see for herself.

Even with issues of national security.

It's been six months since the discovery from Stanford's team out in southern Italy had sent ripples through the scientific community and set media ablaze. 'Deadly Accident in Paradise' and other headlines had dominated for about four days, before the next terrible accident had been bigger and had more photographs to plaster on the front pages, but Lee's lab had been one of the larger ones reached out to in that meantime. For them, that had just been the beginning of the storm.

The world knows vampires exist. Or rather, the world knows that there's creatures out there that kill almost as quick as bullet sprays, with even less personal connection to their victims...but quite a bit more proximity. But they're rogues. Hunted even as they exist as hunters, and no one had ever caught one to study. How could you, when they could charm any captor with a stare or a caress, when they could unlock doors with their minds, when they could glut themselves on a SWAT team before anyone had a chance to do lasting damage?

The answer to that question: find one that comes depowered, just for you. Just for science, for the questions about extending life and mortality and more than a little out of terror of what threat vampires carry with them just by existing. Because their very existence hinges on the deaths of humans; a decision that lets them take on the role of judge, jury and executioner...if not just acting as a serial killer.

All of these prejudices and more have been the foreground of Lee's experience in the lab this past half year. Her non-disclosure agreement means she's bitten her knuckles raw not spilling everything to her friends about this, and her excitement while she's at work has lead to more than a few coworkers needing to give her a good-natured subject change, but certainly no one suspected a thing. No one would have guessed that Lee Jheon, lab technician, would have finished analyzing her samples of the creature's blood for the day, punched out...and then gone deeper into the lab.

She has to see it. She has to. She's seen parts of it for weeks - blood, skin tissue, saliva, mouth scrapings. Among other experiments, they've been trying to see if it carries contagions and doesn't get sick, or if there's anything to be gleaned from its immune system that might help humans heal. It seems like neither - no illness, no carrier for disease. It seems that there's not enough heat, and certainly not enough cell life, in its body to carry on activities for any invading pathogens...but those conclusions aren't enough for Lee.

She has to see what they've been working on. And so she's here, wandering deeper in the labs with an access card and a code, and it's easier than she'd even thought.

For all that the creature is dangerous when fully strong, for all that they'd been told there's plenty of security precautions in place...the fact of the matter is that it's weak right now. That's why they can capture it at all. And there's no guards in the room it's kept in, because there's no need for anything more than occasional checks. Lee wonders if it's good old-fashioned paranoia that keeps them away - something that's hard to imagine, with the way her curiosity burns like fire, draws her to it.

She steps into a room full of computers and long tables, not dissimilar from her own lab benches. Against a far wall is a cell that reminds her of the brigs in science fiction shows - strong tempered glass is the entire front of it, no privacy inside. She can see it immediately, laying on its bed - a flat outcropping from the wall, and the only furniture in the room. A dull white glow, impersonal and cold, comes from ceiling lights embedded inside.

Lee steps forward, one hand over her mouth.

The creature looks horrifying, but not because of itself. It looks like something that's suffered on behalf of someone else's will, and all at once Lee realizes she'd never considered what a weak vampire might look like. What that means, aside from sparing humans from death.

It's twisted and starved, thin and husk-like; Lee looks and doesn't see the beautiful skin and shimmering hair that pulp fiction paperbacks promise. She sees neglect, with white nondescript clothing loosely covering the skin shrink-wrapped to bone on the creature in front of her.

Once a man, now a monster. Now a prisoner in the lab she works in.

Lee lets out a gasp while she stares, and it occurs to her only now to wonder if it's awake, even as it rests with its back to her. It's newly after sunset, after all. Can it know? Does it still wake and sleep like they're known to, this far underground?

[ The best thing about healing from anything is the fact that there's not much he has to do after debriefing save for shedding the black and yellow armour, taking a shower, and being given a high-protein meal. Weapon X is stowed away in his room after, content by himself with nothing but books and a few sweet cigars, and chooses on his own terms not to interact with anyone else.

But just because he doesn't talk to anyone means that he's free from people in general. Often when he's escorted by guards (useless but for psychological reinforcement) there's someone watching -- a familiar someone, known primarily because Stryker reminds him everyday to keep away from big bad Sabretooth.

Wolverine doesn't understand the real reasons for it, of course. And though he'll admit sometimes he finds himself wondering why (there's no-one stronger than him in this facility except Weapon XI, so why should it matter?), more often than not he decides it's probably better off if he doesn't know.

Today, though, he's running on a treadmill, nodes pressed all along his body, wires running to a machine in the room reading his vitals. There's only one other person there, a doctor whose name Wolverine hasn't bothered learning, but there's another one standing just beyond the glass walls that keep Wolverine and his doctor contained. If he turns his head now he'll see him -- Sabretooth -- and when their eyes meet, Wolverine's narrow into a glare.

Go away, comes the wordless demand. ]
