[ secrets, Tony knows from experience, do not a comfortable bed make. hell, they don't make anything comfortable really, what with the potential for everyone to find out whatever it is that you are trying to keep hush hush and that constant lingering fear that sits at the back of your throat and tastes like shit whiskey and terrible life choices. but when it comes down to it, Tony never meant for this to be a secret.

honestly, Tony has no idea how he managed to end up in a relationship with Loki of all beings to begin with, but he did and now-- well now its almost a year into everything and they are clearly tangled together in ways that neither of them anticipated what with there being more skinny jeans in Tony's wardrobe than before, and there being spellbooks on worktops and silly doodles done in chalk markers on the sides of his suits. (and he likes those doodles, thank you very much do not wash them off). it is a year into this snarking and taunting turn thinly veiled emotions and no one knows about them except Friday and Tony really has no idea how any of this happened.

(yes he does, he didn't think that the god would stick around, expected some apocalyptic event or another to happen and for anything that even remotely resembled happiness in their lives to go up in flames.)

but it has happened and-- fuck, Tony is pretty sure this feeling between his ribs is affection and adoration and contentedness and nothing has driven it all to hell and there might be a little bit of hope mixed in with everything now too. sure, Loki is still a god with less than a stellar track record but-- fuck, Tony's past wasn't a clean one either.

Loki doesn't have to say hello, doesn't have to say a thing, for the engineer to know that he has come into the workshop (doesn't' need Friday to tell him either and isn't that something), there is a shift in the air that has Tony spinning away from his screens and the new designs for fluid nanites to aid in cognitive rehabilitation, smile already on his face as he gets up and seeks out the familiar lines of his favourite god.]
