The Seven Minutes in Heaven Meme

How did it end up like this? You don't know, or maybe you do. The point is, you're stuck inside a closet with a friend, enemy, idol, stranger or someone you only know by sight. The door is locked inside the tight little room, and as if by magic, you both know the only way to open it is by kissing for seven minutes straight. Yes. One kiss won't cut it. No pecks on the cheek, either. You gotta make it count.

Adam wishes he hadn't come. He has homework to do. He has a thousand better things to do than wasting time at one of Henry's parties. But he'd wanted to know what it was like, and to pretend for one night that he belonged here. And he was with Gansey, which meant that he did belong here. He had a place at Gansey's side, and Gansey belonged here, so no one would question Adam's presence here.

When Gansey agrees to the game of spin the bottle, with seven minutes in heaven rules, Adam takes a seat in the circle near him. He's quiet and reflective, as usual, and his eyes linger on Gansey. The game doesn't interest him, but Gansey does. He's curious about who Gansey will end up with, and how he'll react. The thought of Gansey kissing someone fixates his mind.

As it is, he's so focused on watching Gansey's reaction that it takes him an extra moment to understand why Gansey's looking back at him. And, subsequently, why everyone's now looking at him. The bottle's unmistakably pointing toward Adam.

Adam's eyes flick toward the designated closet, then back to Gansey, waiting to see Gansey's reaction so that he can decide, in turn, how he wants to react.
