hurt/comfort smut; meme Bruised. Beaten. Stabbed. Sapped of energy. Tricked. Mentally played and abused. Perhaps you've even seen your home world destroyed, depending on how Homestuck you are. Any way you slice it, characters go through a lot of crap. There's nothing wrong with wanting to see them get pampered and taken care of when they're ailing. In canon, they may not have someone who can provide them with care when they're injured, support and love when they're sick, and physical intimacy all around. In this post, AU or other scenarios can provide them with a caretaking partner of their very own (or, maybe, someone to take care of, if the reverse is their preference). So, for once, weary traveler, you don't have to carry that weight all by yourself.

to bring you out of the darkness; The injury may not be a temporary physical or mental one, however. Some characters suffer more deeply, even if they don't know it. Darkness covers their hearts, they're withdrawn, insecure, angry, or lonely. They need someone to reach out to them and show them unconditional love. This post can provide that, too. Whether it be the cliche and shameless "changed by your love" trope or something more subtle like getting someone to open up, the characters here can offer that and more. Phobos drank in the pain on Abel's face, in his words, he relished the tears making their way down the cheeks of the man that Cook had wanted so badly. Had wanted more than he had ever wanted him. He panted, his breath shallow, he had waited so long for his moment, he had given so much for his moment.

This victory was his to enjoy. It was better than sex, better than love, better than the career he had just thrown down the shitter, this masterful, all-encompassing destruction of his rival.

But his jubilation had been short lived. Cook had sent security to find him, and find him they did. Tall, dark, fighters, sharks whipped in a frenzy by the smell of blood in the water, by the chance to touch what until now had been too precious for the likes of them: a navigator.

The smirk on the taller one's face had sent a shudder down his spine. It was quickly followed, as he struggled, by the sickening sound of bone hitting bone. Phobos fell, hitting the wall, a hand going to his face, his legs giving way under him. He could calculate coordinates in the blink of an eye, could deftly avoid Colteron missiles, but he wasn't trained to fight. A black leather glove grabbed a handful of blond hair, pulling him back up to his feet. "Aren't you pretty", a voice drawled near his ear. Phobos screwed his eyes shut, and tried to remember the expression on Abel's face.

Some time later -he couldn't quite tell, as the world came in and out of focus around him- Phobos was shoved into a cell. He stumbled in and caught himself on one of the bunks as the heavy steel door was closed behind him. Sitting down heavily, he gingerly brought his hands up to his face, to assess the damage. His bottom lip was sticky and wet, just like the temple that had hit the wall -he didn't need to look at his fingers to know he was bleeding- but other than that there had been precious little damage.

He wondered, for an instant, why they had bothered to keep him looking relatively presentable. The assault on the Colteron shipyard would fail. They would all die and there wouldn't be a body to bring to his parents, no matter how powerful or well-connected they were. Phobos pulled his legs up on the narrow bunk, leaning his forehead on his knees. Waiting for the shudder that would indicate a direct hit to the Sleipnir. Waiting to die alone in this cell.

He tried to remember the expression on Abel's face.

It’s been a few days since he’s heard from Midnighter. Which isn’t unusual, they both have lives and jobs. Part of the unspoken agreement (well, partly unspoken because Midnighter can be unfailingly open when he wants to be) is they don’t really tell the other about what’s happening. It’s. Something. Maybe something they’ll talk about someday when this thing they have gets more defined.

He already knows he can’t ask Midnighter to change. It’s more that... everyone in this job has a line. The point where they meet someone they can’t allow to live. It’s on each of them to decide whether or not they actually cross that line and to deal with the consequences of it. Dick knows he has one, he’s just... been less brutally honest with himself about where that line is recently. Especially since Blockbuster.

But. He can still send a damn text. They’re dating. So he does.
