Catharsis or Full Circle?

The foggy world of Silent Hill is a mysterious town sitting on the shores of the beautiful and enigmatic Toluca Lake in Maine, USA. It's a small, local tourist town that's been built up over the years, complete with a resort and amusement park. From its description, one wouldn't think there was anything too wrong with the place. Except... Except that it tends to draw people in. And there, once you cross the border, you enter what's known as the Fog World, an abandoned town full of lurking terrors--or even worse, the Otherworld, a rusty and bloody world that is even more terrifying, warping the world. And each Otherworld is unique to the person who's arrived. Silent Hill will either make you or break you. Why not step into town to find out?
- Post your character. Please describe a bit of the stuff they'll encounter, if you'd like. Your monsters are going to be based on your character's psychology.
- Reply to others and explore the Fog World and Otherworld at your leisure. After all, you'll need all the help you can get.
- Below are optional prompts. Use them if you're lost or need an idea of what to tag with.
1. Arrival: You've just arrived to the sleepy town of Silent Hill. For some reason, the streets are missing in spots, the entire town is boarded up and no one native seems to be around anymore. But if you try to leave, you find there's no way to do so. It's as if Silent Hill's roads have crumbled into an abyss where they lead out of town.
2. First Encounter: You've somehow found some kind of radio or walkie talkie, or maybe you always had one, and some kind of improvised weapon. A pipe, a stick, maybe you've even found an actual wrench, but you're going to have to make due. Because here comes your first and most basic monster, ripped and warped from your fears and doubts and other repressed feelings.
3. Hit the Streets: Now that you're armed and have the convenient static of whatever radio-like-thing you have on you, it's time to explore. After all, you won't find an escape just standing around. But the town is a maze of broken streets and puzzles. Good luck.
4. Fog World Buildings: Eventually, your journey will lead you into a larger building. Or at least one big enough to take a little bit of exploring. And you'll find it's warped in its own way, with keys hidden here and there, and other doors jammed or locked. You'll have to fight your way through to the end.
5. The Otherworld: Eventually, in each explored large building, you'll hear a siren--like an air raid siren or something similar. And the world will peel back, dissolving into rust, blood and decay. Now things are serious. Each Otherworld is tailored to each person, and will force you to steadily face something. And when you're done with the location, you'll find yourself back in the Fog World. ...If you even survive long enough.
6. Catharsis: One of the two possible endings of Silent Hill's lessons. If you've made it through, survived and come out the better, having learned and vented those repressed feelings, then the roads will allow you to leave. Maybe not your friend, though, so maybe that's something to worry about.
7. Full Circle: The other possible ending. If you didn't learn, then Silent Hill will never let you go. Fate will twist. You'll either never leave the town, or you'll suddenly find yourself reliving it or some other twist that will see you forced to face Silent Hill's fog all over again.
8. Beware UFOs: Every Silent Hill game has its gag ending, usually a UFO ending of some sort. So this is your obligatory conspiracy and ridiculous prompt. Have as much fun with it, go flying off into space, become a magical girl and banish the fog, whatever. This prompt is just to break it up and be silly.
9. Wild Card: There's all kinds of other things you could do in Silent Hill. After all, the Otherworld is your proverbial rotten oyster of repression.
