one; hugging. you just want to give your loved one a warm embrace. be it out of happiness, to comfort them while they're down, or just to give them something warm to latch onto, you just want to wrap your arms around them.

two; kissing. whether it's a peck on the cheek or a deep kiss, a kiss good-bye or a romantic kiss, you find yourself compelled to kiss the other person! be as tender or as passionate as you so choose.

three; holding hands. it's a simple gesture, really -- to reach out and take someone's hand. but that one simple gesture can convey any number of sentiments. what the sentiment is, is up to you, but you find yourself reaching out to take your significant other's hand.

four; carrying. is your loved one hurt and needs a lift? do they want a piggyback ride? or do you just want to spare them the effort of walking? whatever the reason, you're now itching to pick up your partner and carry them to their destination.

five; i love you. you've said it before or maybe you haven't but now you have to say it again or for the first time.

six; dancing. kick up the music, because it's time to dance! but no lone dancing allowed -- you need to have a partner! you can do whatever dance strikes your fancy. personally, i recommend the slow dance, but you can do whatever you want!

seven; massaging. did your significant other have a rough day? did they get hurt? or do you just feel like doing something really nice for them? whatever it is, you're giving them a nice massage now. they'll feel wonderful in no time!

eight; flirting. the easiest way to break the ice or maybe you're just an overly flirty person.

nine; cuddling. sometimes there's just no better feeling than curling up next to each other on a warm sofa. hold each other, lie next to each other, fall asleep on each other -- it's all good here.

[ So now they're embroiled in a hostage situation. Eliot should have been expecting a drastic move from Margo, but he hadn't been prepared for kidnapping. That's never been in their repertoire. It's one more worry to toss on the pile of things that Eliot needs to stress about but would really rather not. (In the carriage, he'd had the thought that maybe they should have ditched Margo's dead weight husband and loaded up the carriage with as many creepy egg sacs as they could fit, but he definitely isn't pointing that out.) Coming back to the castle with the sense that they have the inkling of an upper hand is nice, even if it's marred with the awareness of just how wrong this could possibly go.

And Quentin is back, key in hand, less one mapmaker and plus one wayward former Brakebills student. She has hair like copper and knife-sharp eyes and Eliot can hear her rattling around upstairs from where he and Quentin have sprawled across the couch. ]

Alice is going to be fine.

[ Eliot says it as much to convince himself as to convince Quentin. He reaches over to take his hand without even thinking about it, drawing Quentin closer. The overlay of their life in Fillory colors everything about the present. ( the days seem to stretch on, and sometimes the nights even longer. there's some form of comfort in the routine of waking, traveling, fighting, sleeping, and repeat. shift a few things around, and that's been gladio's life for as long as he can remember. borne of fighting and born to protect. it's his life, not something so simple as a job. his responsibilities and duties run so thick and heavy through his veins that it's something that keeps him alive. it keeps him standing his ground without fail, without complaint.

usually. sometimes, truthfully, he does have a complaint or two. after all, beneath all the machismo and muscle he is only but a man.

he doesn't voice it, though gives ground to them sometimes by his outward demeanor. folding his arms, exasperation, a well meaning but still hot temper. these things happen to the best of everyone. gladio doesn't think he's special enough to warrant any additional treatment when his nerves are frayed to the point of snapping. sometimes, if he's in the mood, even he picks at those electric edges just to release the aggression. they aren't his proudest moments, but they happen.

those edges are fraying now as the day wears on him. it's no one's fault but his own -- too many things are running unchecked inside his mind. it's not pleasant, wishes he could shut something off, but he doesn't know how. thankfully, there's a pack of daemons to take his aggression out on. he lays waste to them without hesitation. afterward, he feels...somewhat better. not fully, but enough to set up camp without grumbling for help. a stubborn chair nearly meets its demise, but the two manage to work something out without resorting to cheap blows. by the time the sun fully sets and the stars are scattered across the sky like sparkling diamonds, he's eaten to fill his belly, and cleaned himself as best as he could in a nearby stream, gladio is feeling nearly fully human again.

noct and prompto stumble off to sleep, gladio knows he'll follow soon but he's not tired enough yet even after exerting himself as he had all day. he's glad when ignis stays out, too. because, deep down gladio knows part of why he's so antsy, restless, agitated. it isn't that he craves attention and touch to the point of desperation, but by nature he's quite tactile. he enjoys touching and being touched by people he cares for. sometimes it feels double that when it comes to ignis. gladio begrudges nothing of their situation, but it has been a time since they've been alone together. tonight, in these few precious moments they can steal, gladio intends to milk the time for all it's worth.

he rolls his head to the side as an almost lazy smile spreads over his lips. a hand reaches out to catch the one of ignis's that's closest, two fingers wrapping lightly around two fingers. he tugs a little and makes a gesture to come over with his head. )
