how?

01 induction. a comfortable place, a confident touch, and all the right words to take you under. deep breath in, deep breath out, just lie back for the plain flavor, no gimmicks or special powers involved.
02 the prop box. that's not enough? then how about a spinning spiral, or a swinging pocket watch, a coin or a candle, a flickering candle, that's right, just look at the flame, watch the flame closely, watch it dance in front of your eyes and relax, just relax...
03 simply powerful. deep and hypnotic eyes, a strong and commanding voice, their comforting and soothing touch; that person has more than talent - they have the power to bring you completely under their control, and there is no way to resist... at least not forever.
04 magic! a spell to control your body, a potion to command your mind, an artifact to destroy your will. you might have been enchanted, or even cursed. maybe it was an accident, a lesson gone wrong. whatever it was, it's time for a magical trance!
05 science! death rays are so last season, hypno rays are all the rage these days! and did you hear about that new drug that makes you 89% more suggestible to everything you're told? apparently they can even insert a chip into your brain and-- you know, why don't you see the miracle of science for yourself?
06 other. combine, change, roll again, or try something else entirely.

why?

01 therapy something you want to remember? something you'd like to forget? quit smoking, eat healthier, be the best you you can be. whatever your reason, whatever your method, your subconsciousness needs a spring cleaning to improve your life.
02 in good fun you're really looking forward to this! it's a show, it's a party, or maybe it's just the two of you trying something new. entertaining, relaxing, maybe even hot and steamy. kick back, and enjoy the experience.
03 part of the job the latest corporate drug, another monster preying on people's minds, the third alien artifact you dug up this week. you've run into this before, and you will run into it again. but maybe this time is different. maybe this time something went wrong...
04 part of a scheme you don't want this, but somebody else begs to differ. maybe it's as harmless as a prank to make you cluck like a chicken whenever they say your name. or maybe it's as bad as a plot to make you their obedient servant forever. only they know, but for better or worse, you're about to find out.
05 an accident a vacant stare into that magical mirror, blank faces after a gas leak, sparks flying in the wrong direction and suddenly you find yourself chanting 'yes, master' over and over again? looks like somebody was too careless. sure, nobody meant for this to happen, but it did, and now you have to deal with the side-effects.
06 other. combine, change, roll again, or try something else entirely.

what?

01 relaxation. all you want is to unwind, switch off, forget about your stress and worries for a while. close your eyes, you'll wake up feeling so refreshed. that is, unless somebody goes a little overboard with that happy and vacant smile...
02 transformation. bark like a dog. moo like a cow. put on this apron, you are the maid now. you're a robot, you're just a doll, you are the president of the world, an adorable baby, the perfect boyfriend- you are something or somebody you weren't before.
03 personality change. people don't change? we'll see about that! there must be some way to make you more assertive, less anxious, more honest, less unruly. maybe something could even change your evil ways! or your good ones, for that matter...
04 submission. this one is all about following commands. any commands. any commands. but do they just want to see you dance to their tune once, or will they wash, scrub and bleach your brain until it comes out blank and obedient forever?
05 seduction. maybe it's something sneaky to charm somebody you just met, maybe it's something sexy to spice up your relationship. whatever it is, whatever you do, it's trance time in the bedroom. and it would feel so amazing to take off your clothes for me, wouldn't it?
06 other. combine, change, roll again, or try something else entirely.

Caught like a deer in headlights. Starlight actually won.

"Awww geez," Konoka would normally be much more relaxed about losing a bet, especially one as silly as 'I bet the local UST couple won't make up kiss (without outside interference). She had been pretty sure one of the other girls, if not Starlight herself, would have jumped in on this sort of opportunity, but apparently what had already been there already exploded before anyone could help. To her credit though, Konoka was a graceful loser.

"Well, this is your victory," she said after a moment. With a lower voice, only to where Starlight could hear, the brunette murmured. "So what was it that you wanted to try on me again?"

"Honestly? I wanted to see how fun it could be if I hypnotized you. I've seen people do it successfully, so it shouldn't hurt."

Starlight couldn't help but smile a bit, pleased about the results. And she was grateful about Konoka taking the loss so well. "Follow me to our room, and we'll get started."

She hadn't stuttered or said something out of turn either. Starlight gave her a slightly devious grin while motioning for Konoka to follow along. "I promise it'll be fun for both of us."

Wear something comfortable. That's what Raven had told her when they'd talked about this earlier. Usa was still a little reluctant. There were still so many conflicting memories locked away in her head. What if she couldn't tell which were real and which weren't? What if she said something awful or lewd, or suddenly lost control and reverted to old ways? How much darkness was still locked away inside of her? She didn't know. The problem was, ignoring it wouldn't help, and she had to keep telling herself that. Plus, Raven had assured her they wouldn't do anything too deep. It would be fun. That word coming out of Raven's mouth just felt strange somehow.

So she'd dressed comfortably in a knee-length skirt and a color coordinated black top with the outline of a pink rabbit on the front. Fine, she was doing this, no talking herself out of it. Fun or not, at least it would be something to do, and if she wasn't doing this, she'd probably be bored somewhere, or getting into trouble again. This was the right place, wasn't it? She gave a knock to Raven's door and waited for a reply.

Technically it wasn't, but Raven had modified the doors to automatically open whenever she was near it or implied a command of some kind. If she said nothing, it wouldn't open. She nodded her approval when Usa had arrived with clothes she deemed as comfortable; the sorceress simply wore her uniform. In the case of the hood, it was down around her shoulders. She didn't usually wear it unless they were out.

"Glad to see you're prepared. Let me know when you're ready and we can get started." She motioned for the other girl to sit at the foot of her bed, She'd help her out with the weirdness in her head...but she'd also add some more weirdness to it too before their time was over.

"Do you really believe this will help find my way home?"

From his seat in the armchair in Charles's office, Aurus regards the the man across from him with a mild half smile--half indulgent, half skeptical. Not skeptical about the good professor's abilities, certainly, nor about the genuineness of his intentions. This matter is a good deal more complicated than that, though.

In all the many years he's been wandering, Aurus has never reached a place that was too far from home, too foreign for his liking. When the magical anomalies that were playing havoc with the fabric of Tyrian space-time brought him face-to-face with a rift that landed him in this whole other world, he did not panic. He didn't even fret. There were new horizons before him, and he saw no reason at all not to go off and explore what they had to offer.

What he learned, however, was that in this world with all its fraught politics and tensions between mutants and humans, him wandering down roads and into towns openly was no small matter. Aurus might not be a mutant, but he could easily be taken for one.

As it turned out, this was something of a mixed blessing, because it's what ultimately landed him here at Professor Xavier's residence, which certainly is far better than many places he could have ended up. He's grateful to Charles for taking him in, for helping him to understand the context and oddities of this world, for trying to give him a focus for his energy and attention in his time here. But the truth of the matter is that while Aurus is in some ways quite a natural teacher, he cannot bear the confinement of manicured gardens and lawns. He needs wilderness, which means that he needs to go home.

And so this plan has been hatched: with Charles's guidance, they are meant to mentally retrace Aurus's steps as they led him to the moment of crossing over between the worlds. The idea is for Charles to recover that which Aurus cannot simply remember on his own, and thereby to produce a sort of map--a map that they can follow to get him back where he came from.

It's an experiment, and certainly not one without its risks. So it's a testament to Aurus's trust in Charles that he's willing to try it at all. He knows that once he gives the man access to his mind in this way, he could potentially do whatever he chooses. Potentially. Because it's also true that Charles will never have encountered a mind like Aurus's before: a mind that, far from being either human or mutant, isn't even mammalian. (And that is to say nothing of the Legends--the magically bound echoes of five Tyrian heroes who accompany Aurus like residents in his mind: dwarf, centaur, dragon, demon, assassin.)

At any rate, if Aurus has his guess, Charles probably can't help but be curious about the hows and whys of sentient plant life, as well as about the mysteries of Aurus's world. And whatever happens next, he's probably about to learn a great deal of both. So perhaps in that sense, the situation is a win-win, and all the risk will be worth it for them both.

"And perhaps an equally important question: are you sure you want to do this?"
