He's known Ignis for years. They've played together, trained together, and, on more than one occasion, escorted Noctis outside the Citadel for a few things. The world being black and white didn't bother him at all, and it never one prevented him from doing his job.

Waking up this morning, on his 21st birthday, something felt odd. There was a hint of something right at the edge of his vision but it was so blurry he couldn't be bothered to try figuring it out. Instead, he went about his morning as usual, which left him meeting with Ignis for a birthday lunch.

Which is why it's such a shock when colors bleed into his sight the moment Ignis enters the cafe. Gladio's eyes are focused on his friend, taking in everything about the younger man that this new, colorful world offers him.
