☆ The Magical Girl Meme ☄

Ever wanted to be a magical girl? (You can be a magical boy, too! But since that's the name of the genre, this post will talk about magical girls.) Now's the time to find out what that would be like for your characters.

Make a comment to this post detailing any preferences you have (for example, if you want grimdark themes, or if you'd like threads to turn shippy); you can also describe what kind of magical girl or boy your character has become if you want to decide there, or you can leave that up to the RNG to decide later. Then hit up the random number generator--or make up your own scenario--and go around tagging others!

☆ BECOME MAGIC ☄ how did it happen?
1. Destiny called. It was nothing you did or didn't do: it's just that you were fated to be a magical girl from the start.
2. The cycle of reincarnation. In a past life, you were a god or goddess--or perhaps a legendary heroine. In this life, you take on their powers as a magical girl.
3. Make a wish. You gained your powers, and with them the duty to fight, after you made a wish. Was it worth it?
4. Chosen by the powers that be. Something powerful chose you to represent it in magical battle: an element, a god, an alien from another dimension. You'd better live up to your patron.
5. Wildcard. Any of the above, or your own option!

☆ WHAT'S YOUR MAGIC ☄ your powers are?
1. The elements (etcetera). You represent an element, or a sign of the Zodiac, or a planet or star, or a gemstone, and your powers are based on that.
2. Your power comes from within. Becoming a magical girl merely enhanced some ability you already had to a superhuman degree.
3. Summoning style. Your power comes from without: you summon greater forces to fight for you, whatever they may be.
4. Weapons of magical destruction. When you transform, you're gifted with amazing magical weapons--be creative with just what this may mean!
5. Wildcard. Any of the above, or your own option!

☆ PUT YOUR MAGIC TO WORK ☄ what's the situation?
1. The beginning. You've just become (or found out that you are) a magical girl. How do you react?
2. A secret revealed. You're supposed to hide your powers from the normal people in your lives, but you've tripped up and been caught. What do you do now?
3. Fight on! You're facing an enemy who can only be defeated through your magical powers. Good thing you've got your fellow magical girls to help you out.
4. A truth discovered. Some new aspect of being a magical girl has just come to light, and you weren't told about it beforehand. This can be something horrifying, or it can merely be surprising.
5. A new friend or partner? You didn't know it, but you're not the only magical girl around! Who's this newcomer, and how will you two get along?
6. Rivals clashing. You and the other magical girl, the town's not big enough for both of you. Or is it? Will you fight forever, or can one of you befriend the other?
7. A hero to the rescue. Your dearest friend or partner (or maybe just an unlucky stranger!) is in danger, and they need you to really shine as a magical girl to save them.
8. Questioning destiny. You've gotten really sick of being a magical girl, for whatever reason. What are you going to do about it, and will your friends be able to console you?
9. Wildcard. Any of the above, or make up your own scenario!

Being granted actual destructive force was a new one on Sunset. She usually had the power to hear people's thoughts, not blow them up.

And yet, she looked at her gun rapier and said, "I'm not too sure if I should be doing this..."

Subaru chuckled as she stretched, flexing back and forth on the careful balance of her rollerblades. "Hehe, first time using an Intelligent Device, huh? Don't worry, it's here to watch out for you. And it's not just a weapon, isn't that right partner?"

She spun and raised her foot as if she was going to deliver a high kick. The gem on the front of her boot flashed cheerfully. 'That's right! It's nice to meet you.'

"Well, considering my only actual power is empathy, this is a new one for me." said Sunset, taking a few test swings of the rapier.

"Don't worry, you will be fine."

Subaru smirked and then started checking her gauntlets. The main core of her IS was in her shoes but it encompassed her weapon as well, just like the barrier jacket was part of Mach Caliber. "Empathy is good. Especially on squad missions. And we're just going to be fighting training robots...probably."

With Nanoha as their instructor, one could never be sure. "But anyway, what's its name?"

"Uh... well..."

"I am Celestia. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Celestia's voice seemed less synthed than normal IDs, more warm, motherly, and it was giving Sunset a bit of a flashback to her own teacher.

"Oooh, nice name. Kinda has a star thing going for it." The lights on the wall of the prep room started flashing. Thirty seconds until the doors opened. Subaru turned now to face them.

"Here we go. How are your barriers? Can you cover me or do you need me to draw fire?"

"Yeah well... I'm a little unnerved because she sounds so much like my teacher, well, former teacher." said Sunset with a embarrassed expression.

"Well, to be honest, I'm just doing what Rarity does, when she throws up barriers. But hers are made of diamond."

Subaru glanced sidelong at Sunset...but she didn't hold that judging gaze for long. She chuckled and rubbed the back of her head. "Yeah, well, I kinda copied my hero's super attack to make my own. And now she's going to be sending robots after us when this mission starts up.

"So, for barriers, just focus on the energy, start from the center and then out. You don't need to block everything full on. Deflecting is fine." Though obviously you don't want a hole being punched through it, so there had to be something to it.

"Oh joy. And here I should have studied more," replied Sunset as she looked at the device in her hands before weighing the rapier gently in them.

"I'll do my best."

"You wouldn't be here if you hadn't been already." A loud tone sounded and the doors began to slide open. "I'll take the lead and draw attention. Keep in touch on the radio and let me know if you see anything. Let's find our target! Ready?"

'You got it! Wing Road.'

The gangplank leading out from the deployment gate crossed a small bridge into the training complex. Subaru bypassed it completely by building a light bridge up and away and like a rocket she was off skating along it.

Following behind, Sunset was on the ground but she stretched her senses magically. As a rule, robots didn't have empathy, but she could tell when there was a disturbance in the direction they were going.

"Large cluster of robots, three o'clock."

Subaru nods as the call came over the radio, "Got it!" In the sky the magic road she was on arced off as directed. Sunset's read on the energy flow was accurate, and Subaru was able to attack the drones from above, taking one out with a falling punch and then sweeping into the other two before they could respond.

The drones were just the basic training dummies though, the mooks. The real target of this exercise was the commander. The question though was whether it was a drone as well...or if it was another Mage. In the worst case, it might even be Nanoha herself. If Sunset reached out she could surely detect if there were any other people or Intelligent Devices on the field.

Sunset could feel something, there was a blip on her radar so to speak as they closed in. "There's a new presence, the commander most likely heading 1-1-5."

She quickened her pace, to catch up to Subaru as well, moving faster now through the area.

[Rita Mordio here was a newbie to Subaru's current TSAB division. Indeed, her world was new to all of this, and when the TSAB had asked for some 'exchange students' to join the elite Riot Force 6 and learn the power of magical girls from nothing, she'd tried to get out of the selection... Until a certain someone suggested she go for it! If it worked out well, maybe Estelle would join them, too! Heroic magical-girl partners saving the galaxy from whatever threat came up next, what wouldn't be awesome about that?!

So far, Rita's conclusion had been: Not very awesome. The silly barrier jacket thing worked fairly well, she guessed, but the magic systems here were bloody weird compared to the Blastiatech she used to work with, or her current progress in Manatech - which was of course, a very, very long time behind the systems she was now expected to handle. This had a very annoying side effect: She was stuggling to keep up with people who had been immersed in this tech all their lives. Anyone of a lesser intellect than her would barely stand a chance. Clearly, if Estelle wanted in on this, she'd have a hell of a time of it.

Which left her frustrated, sitting in the corner of Riot Force 6's cafeteria, trying to distract herself with a game on her smartphone. She'd gone antisocial pretty quickly - which seemed like a good reason for Subaru to step in.]

[Subaru had definitely noticed Rita in the training drills. She may have been better suited to the skills she was using by the quirks of her unique biology, but that didn't mean she was a perfect user of Mid-Childean magecraft. Her own recklessness and attitude was her own detriment and for that she depended on Teana to balance her out.

So yeah, she recognized the look on Rita's face. And since she was new they were probably just having her use one of the training Devices rather than crafting her one of her own. Being on your own like this in a strange place...Again Subaru wasn't the best suited to relate, but she understood.]

Hey...mind if I join you?

[Subaru flashes a smile as she stands there with her lunch try, trying to find that balance between friendly and concerned.]

[Rita glanced up to Subaru, then sighed.]

Meh. Sure.

[Then right back down to the game.]

Hey, have a small furry creature popping up in front of you seemingly normal person.

"My name is Moghan! I'm one of the Mogfairies of Moghome! The evil Ascian Prime has been freed by the Garlheart Empire! Emperor Varis zos Galvus wants to use his power to cover the world in darkness!"

He holds out a very distinct looking wand. "Queen Hydaelen has chosen you to use this! Just raise it into the air and yell Super Shiva Crystal Makeup and you'll be transformed into one of the Pretty Primals so you can battle the Garlheart Empire!"

Ysayle just...stares at the moogle. With all that has happened to her she has so much anger at the state of things and the war of dragons and man but....this moogle is just so adorable! She can't deny the moogle's request and takes the wand in both hands. Maybe this....maybe this explains all the strange dreams and visions she's been having! This could help lead everything to peace!

"Super Shiva Crystal Maaaaaakeup!" She twirls and spins the staff as it begins to glow, spinning around herself as the cool blue of the hailstorm coat attire forms around her and her hair rises in frozen spikes.

"Eidolon Senshi Shiva! Here to cool you off!"

The CAS Assault Carrier blotted out the sky above the skyscrapers, almost as if ignoring the yellow trails of fire attempting to even scratch the energy shielding coating the entire ship.

Then, everything that poured out from the nose of the beast resembled a hornet's releasing a cloud of wasps against the screaming populace.

On the ground, a Covenant Zealot suddenly shouted back the moment he heard the whirring of a wheeled warthog slamming against the rest of its kin. Alien bodies were thrown back like ragdolls, pushed aside and crushed under the wheels of a speeding monster, but the Zealot saw no armor belonging to its occupant.

He primed its blade in a single moment and roared as he slammed the blue sword of plasma into the engine, sinking the front of the warthog against its axles and wheels. All with a human already in the air and bolting towards him.

Flying right above him with a human sword of her own crafted out of pure, blue light, was a maiden with long brown hair.

Sailor Reach's sword sung as it slid through the Zealot's shields and cranium as if neither had been there, before bolting backwards from his chest, grabbing his plasma sidearm to dispatch the three Grunts that saw the maiden all too late.

(( OOC: Long story short, Halo AU where the UNSC created magical girls, possibly alongside Spartans, with the Master Chief being one of them or beside his AU. Make of that what you will.

Can work with either another magical girl, or a civilian character, or military character, or anything! Can be either this prompt, or any of the others!))
