Telepathy. The ability to hear the thoughts of others and pry into other minds. Suddenly, you have it. Or maybe you always had it. And now you're connected, for better or worse, to another person, for who knows how long. You can feel their thoughts and, more alarmingly, they can hear yours. You share dreams, you can feel them there constantly, you their joy and their grief. INSTRUCTIONS; 1.] Post with your character name, canon, and any preferences you may have. 2.] Try not to leave just a blank comment. Maybe write a little scenario about what your character is thinking or feeling, something their partner can pick up. 3.] Whoever tags you now shares a telepathic bond with your character. 4.] When tagging, you may roll 1-5 Extent and for How on the RNG if needed. EXTENT OF TELEPATHY; 1. Sudden Onset Limited. It's a bond limited to exclusively you and your partner. 2. Sudden Onset Unlimited. You and/or your partner can hear the thoughts of others, but it's largely uncontrollable. And you retain a special bond with your partner that you can't block off. 3.] Experienced Limited. You've had your bond for a little while now, and have some experience with controlling it. Limited between you and partner. 4.] Experienced Unlimited w/o Partner. You've had telepathy for a while, but having a bond with your partner is new and confusing. 5.] Experienced Unlimited Partners You and your partner are pretty used to this, and either you, or both of you, can use telepathy on other people. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? 1. Genetic. Baby, you were born this way. Maybe you didn't know it because it was a recessive trait and only appeared at a certain age. Maybe it's a mutation. Your partner shares this genetic trait and, by proximity, you've been bonded. 2. Government. Generic "The government is responsible!" Either you consented or you did not, but you've been partnered by an act of your government... or someone else's. 3. Experiment. You started trying to just bend spoons and... whoops! It was an experiment. Either you planned it or an enemy/evil scientist is responsible! 4. Through Strife/Friendship. You got really close, whether by sharing a hardship/trauma or just being together and getting on. 5. Really Intense Sex. Smut option. [Considering the level of 'evil deeds' accomplished worldwide it's almost a surprise Cipher and her cronies weren't on the target list for the Avengers much earlier on. Maybe it's hard to send a team after somebody no one is sure even exists. Whatever the reason things have changed now; and rumor soon reaches the relevant ears that Owen Shaw has a target on his back shaped like a certain eponymous deadly spider.

Some people would be afraid, but not him. Not really. He's always relished a challenge and she's supposed to be one of the best. Being an arrogant son of a bitch, on his end, probably doesn't hurt. Especially now he's got a new secret weapon up his sleeve.

In the time of gods, monsters and miracles, there's only one way to stay ahead of the curve on the wrong side of the law, and that's to have some sort of super-powered freak on your team. Cipher didn't have one. Nothing promising turned up when she went recruiting. So she tapped Owen to 'volunteer' himself for a little experimental procedure.

The on and off headaches, the insomnia, are a real killer. But he's getting used to it. He won't deny it seems a more than fair price for what he's gained. Before he was always good at reading people, being one step ahead. Now? He thinks he's practically unstoppable.

Romanoff is welcome to come and find him: he'll be waiting for her. And he'll be more than ready.]

[In Wanda's defense, it wasn't intentional. She hadn't even been properly conscious when she did...whatever this was.

It's not uncommon for her to ground herself in another's presence, but she'd never tried to do it in the middle of a nightmare before. To Wanda, it's nothing more than bolting upright in bed and suddenly being aware that someone is way too psychically close. Closer than even Pietro had ever been.

To Erik, it's probably a bit more disturbing as the remnants of Wanda's nightmare crash into him...only to abruptly stop and be replaced by her confusion.]

[ Being mentally linked to Bucky isn't exactly a walk in the park. Hell, being physically near to him tends to end in emotional distance or even irritated conversations (if they could be called conversations; such interactions are largely one-sided). But sharing a mental link--however limited--is far and away more intense than anything else, and the sudden flashes of traumatic memories are only the start.

It's little things: a scent triggering confusion or severe sadness, a turn of phrase bringing on a bout of deja vu so strong it could be a real life (and hell, it might be). Bucky doesn't have the kind of discipline that this sort of condition would require, because there's no training that can override trauma. He deals with it the only way he knows how, and that's not super well.

He stays up at night.

He rubs the bridge of his nose in the middle of innocuous tasks.

And god, he tries to ignore Sam's steady fucking stream of thought, constant analysis or feelings (Geez the guy has so many emotions). Bucky does his best despite the intrusion, and hopes Sam won't bring too much up out loud in conversation.

And he tries to ignore the shit that keeps them both up at night. ]
