The (possibly AU) Sibling Incest Meme

Incest is, despite its taboo nature in most societies, actually a pretty popular convention in both romantic fiction and works of a more erotic bent, in everything from period or fantasy pieces to series taking place in places like modern day Japan. Still, the most common configuration in these fictions are the pairing of siblings. Perhaps this is because of the usual lack of age difference and power dynamic that exists in child/adult relative pairings, though this is not always the case. Because of this, a sexual or romantic relationship between siblings can almost seem, well, romantic in the right light. Of course, more often than not, there's a dark side under the veneer of forbidden love.

This meme is for those who would like to play out that, either the darkness or the light - or both.

HOW TO PLAY

-Comment with your character and preferences. Be sure to mention any hard lines you have.
-Comment around to others. PLEASE NOTE THAT IN ORDER TO FACILITATE CROSS-CANON TAGGING, THIS MEME WILL BE CONSIDERED AN AU FAIR GAME ZONE. Feel free to comment in with characters who do not canonically have siblings or comment to people from other fandoms.
-Be respectful of others.

PROMPTS

1. Feeling Strange: You've known this person your entire life, yet lately you've been feeling...different about them. These feelings aren't exactly familial, either.
2. Not as Normal Families: Whatever the specifics of the case may be, your childhood was not the norm, and thus the two of you have grown close that way.
3. Raised Apart: Scientists believe that when siblings are raised together under normal circumstances, they will not find each other sexually attractive; however, if they are reared apart, they may be highly attracted to each other when they meet as adults.
4. Only Kin by Name: Psuedo-incest between step siblings or adopted siblings is not quite as taboo, but you could still be looked down upon for harboring those desires for someone who is a member of your family by one way or another.
5. Defender: One of you is older and has always looked after the other, meaning that something has grown between you that is thicker than any blood.
6. Guilty: You feel terrible for these longings toward your own flesh and blood, and you do your best to stop them. But can you choose who you want to be with? And how disciplined are you when it's someone you care for in other ways?
7. Dysfunctional: You don't have a good relationship as siblings, yet your relationship as lovers is great.
8. There's Nothing Wrong Here: To you, incest is a casual affair and the "forbidden" aspect is lost. Sorry you were grounded, big brother. Here, since you can't go out, let me be your girlfriend for the night.
9. Like Looking in a Mirror: The two of you are closer than siblings: you're twins. You share everything, so why is your love any different?
10. Skirting the Line: Stolen glances. Lips only a breath away. You're walking a fine line here. You haven't become physical...yet.
11. Got a Secret, Better Keep It: Needless to say, an incestuous relationship is not one that can see the light of day. You'd better keep it behind closed doors.

15. And You'll Be My Queen: It may seem as though the light will never come, but you want to make promises to your most precious sibling that one day, you'll live as any normal couple.
16. Anyone Who Isn't Us is the Enemy: You're in a dangerous climate, and the only one you can depend on is your flesh and blood - bringing you closer together.
17. No Choice in the Matter: Your sibling is not a willing participant in your debauchery, but they endure your cruelty, grooming, and manipulation because you are their brother or sister.
18. No One Like You: There truly is no one who can love you like the person who is closest to being you, bone of your bone. You perfectly understand each other and your love is pure.

22. The End: Being with someone so unattainable is tiring, and one day, you may grow weary of stowing everything away, locking your heart up, or feeling so shamed. This must cease. But can you go back to being just siblings?
23. Not Really Related After All: Perhaps the most cliche of tropes, though it's often used to "justify" incest. Turns out the two of you aren't really siblings! Now, you can pursue a relationship freely.
24. Part of the Same Whole: You're meant to be together, you firmly believe it.
25. Sick and Twisted: The fact that you two are siblings actually is a kink/fetish for you. You get off to all of this.

There's something about his younger brother that he always found attractive--which is why he instigated the relationship in the first place. It had been him; he would grasp his brother into his arms and deeply kiss him, he'd go into his room at night and hold him, sometimes there was more kissing, there. When the other was targetted by boys who found him attractive, his stare alone would scare them off. He would do anything for the younger boy. Kaname knew that. Gotou was in control of him... even if he was the older sibling, the other could ask anything he wanted of him, and Kaname would give it to him with no hesitation. He wanted to be used by him. Gotou was his King.

He'd give him the world if he could. And that was what Kaname was attempting to do. As he was older, he had studied hard in university and within a year's time became CEO of his own company. He was suddenly flanked by the wealthy and influential. He even had his own bodyguard, a woman named Seiren.

...And with his power, his influence... he would one day rule the world. He could feel it.

But today, he went to his parent's house to visit his brother. He had brought a gift with him... an offering to appease his god.

Gotou saw nothing wrong with being like this with his older brother, his attention and praise meant everything to him. He was reliable enough but Gotou always strived to be even more reliable. Kaname always did so much for him, it was the least he could do.

Kaname was always there for him, he'd pet his hair when he cried, humored him when he reached small milestones. With how busy their parents were it was only natural for them to seek out affection and love from each other instead. Sometimes when he laid in bed, he'd strain his ears to listen for the TV in their parent's room to turn off. Then under the cover of darkness, he'd hear the familiar footsteps come to his bedroom and the door quietly open and close. This too was something the two discovered right under the noses of their parents.

When the day came that Kaname left home for university, Gotou cried like a child. It was only a three-hour train ride away yet to Gotou it felt like it was light years away. He'd have to wake to an empty bed, stay in a house that suddenly felt so big and empty. Their parents thought Gotou was being childish for behaving in such a way.

Days passed and Gotou gradually began to feel a little better, his brother was never far from his thoughts but he was able to live day to day without him always there. But today all that didn't matter, today Kaname was coming home! Gotou had been quick to clean the house and himself up for his arrival.

Once the door opened, Kaname recieved a rather large hug from such a small frame. "Welcome home!" He exclaimed, a large smile on his face.

Ah, his brother was so precious. Kaname let the other hug him--the only one who could, he even turned away his parents--relishing the feeling of his brother's body against him. He'd been gone far too long. Running his company took far too much time away. He hardly ever came home anymore. That would have to change.

His free hand came up and pet Gotou's hair. He loved his hair. He loved everything about him. Possessive? Yes. He had a brother complex. He would freely admit it... and people laughed, thinking he was joking, playing the "overprotective big brother" role. He knew better.

He glanced over Gotou's head... and when he spotted no one, he leaned down, nudging the boy's forehead to tilt it up. He gave the other a brief kiss.

"Thank you," Kaname replied, smiling very softly down at him. "Are you going to let me inside? It's cold."

Gotou nuzzled into him, enjoying this moment of affection. It had felt like it has been years since they had last touched and been together in person.

Though he often reprimanded his big brother's possessiveness, he sometimes enjoyed being able to immediately steal his brother's attention from the women and men who fawned over him.

Sharing his brother's attention was something Gotou always struggled with since they were both small. Up until university for Kaname, Gotou had grown used to hogging him all to himself.

Gotou felt a big smile form on his face appear after his brother gave him a quick kiss, cheeks flushing as pulled away and made room for him to enter the house.

"Of course, come in! I made ya dinner!" He looked very proud of himself, something that was no secret was that Gotou was rather clumsy in the kitchen.

"Mom and dad are working late so it'll just be us..." Which is why when they arrive in the kitchen, Kaname sees the table set for two with candles lit and the lights dim. It had been quite a while since it really was just them and they were free to show affection past brotherly. Due to Gotou's unique appearance and Kaname's status, it was impossible for them to go out anywhere without being reconized as brothers rather than a regular couple.

[ although girls tend to want to talk to them separately, they rarely are away from each other in the first place, which has helped solidify their codependency to astronomical levels, and as far as hikaru is concerned, he wouldn't want this any other way. unfortunately, earlier this morning he had to step away from kaoru for just a minute, and when he turned back, he managed to catch a glimpse of a girl talking to his brother casually, and even saw them both laughing at something. hikaru did not recognize that girl at all, so it couldn't have been someone kaoru knows, either... at least, that's what he's telling himself. she left as soon as hikaru was walking back, and before he could question kaoru about her identity, it was time for class.

hikaru was quiet the rest of the day, immersing himself in mobile games to more properly ignore his brother, until finally they were the last two in the classroom. ]

[ Not really interested in fluffy takes on this; my favorite spin on this trope is the variety that's dark, torrid, co-dependent, utterly fucked up, and eventually destroys everyone involved a la Wuthering Heights. If that appeals, come at me.
