Darkness Loves Light

No matter how the darkness looms around you - how much you've become the darkness - there's one bright spot in your life - a person who makes everything worthwhile. It doesn't really matter how they came to you. What does is that they stay. Whether you admit it or not, you seek comfort from them...and, perhaps, them from you, if you're in the same situation. So, whether you push them away, treat them right, or go so far as to worship them and put them on a pedestal, you don't want them to go now. You crave being with them, or at least being in their presence. Don't ruin this for yourself. After all, what would you do without your little ray of light? You'll do anything to keep them happy and loved. Anything. Respond to the meme with your character, canon, preferences, and, if you'd like, what position you're character will be in. Respond to others.

[Y'know what? I wasn't sure, but this sounds like it might be fun. Chrome here has illusion abilities, but she isn't like say Emerald at least not entirely. She's a rather good-natured person in fact.

The scenario that comes to mind for me, and mimics Chrome's canon a bit, Mercury was about to get hit by a car at speeds where Aura wasn't going to save him from taking damage and Chrome not knowing who he was or anything pushes him out of the way to save him. This might be before he even ends up killing his Father if you wanted.

Just someone saving his ass for no reason other than because he looked like he was in trouble and getting put into the hospital for it. He decides to check out the hospital to figure out what this girl's deal is and finds out while her parents aren't physically abusive they are emotionally and at least her mother is totally fine with her dying.

He decides to take her out of that mess of a life because well she's right by him and all. Not sure what they'd do from there. I'd be down with them joining Beacon for real or just traveling around unless you have any other ideas.]

[ When Swift had fallen under the radar of the G.C.P.D., Dick was the first to know. Being a full-fledged vigilante himself, he easily detected all the warning signs that denoted the presence of a new mask in town - the ease in which various thieves and other criminals were dispatched just before the cops arrived was all too telling. You'd think someone with enough flair to knock down some baddies and leave at the last second would leave a calling card of some sort, but Dick knew better. That was never good vigilante protocol, and this person... even though they were amateur-ish, their approach was still remarkably thorough and efficient.

So if Dick wanted to follow any leads on Swift, he had to pay more attention to criminal activity in Gotham - follow the patterns of this so-called Swift until he could anticipate where she'd strike next.

Before long, Nightwing did find her.

And he found her barely surviving an ambush set by Black Mask, who'd considered Swift a thorn on his side for months. With Nightwing's surprise intervention, Black Mask and his men were hospitalized during their next visit to Blackgate Penitentiary.

Dick expected this to be more along the lines of a superhero 'internship.' He hoped to take Swift under his wing the way he'd helped Tim and Damian become the best Robins they could be, but... this was different. The more Nightwing and Swift fought crime together, gradually making Gotham more peaceful with every crime ring they take down, the more... it was obvious that this was relationship was no longer purely 'professional.'

He wanted to confess his feelings someday. Admit that he wanted to be more than friends with Swift - no, Rapunzel.

But that day had yet to come.

Batman - Bruce Wayne - had just been killed by Darkseid. Dick would literally recover the body that, for all he knew, was Bruce's. His father's.

So he had a new cross to bear, this Dick Grayson. And he wouldn't bear it as Nightwing... but as Batman.

Rapunzel will find that he hasn't been answering his texts. Tonight was going to be their third date (no masks), but... nothing. She knows better than to think Dick's ghosted him for good, of course. She might even guess that Dick's at his favorite spot to brood - the empty fair grounds where Haly's Circus had once set up shop before the tragedy that befell the Flying Graysons.

Luckily, she wouldn't have to worry. She wouldn't even have to guess.

Without any other word, Dick inexplicably texted her his coordinates. ]
