more than E X P E R I M E N T A L In this laboratory setting you've found yourself in - be it a shady, fly-by-night hackjob, a secret governmental facility, or a sleek, state-of-the art facility - there's no room for error. What's done is done for science: pure, perfect, uncorrupted by human foibles. Data is the only language spoken, reason the guiding light. And for all this progress to occur smoothly, everyone must know their proper role, from the specialists at work to the lowly crew...and, of course, any experiments involved. Some more bleeding hearts would feel sorry for the latter, but make no mistake, they're little more than lab rats. They are not to be pitied. Emotion shouldn't even be wasted on them. Especially not an emotion as messy and useless in and of itself as romantic love. Why, you wouldn't want to jeopardize the breakthrough of the ages on account of some fairy tale, would you? Besides, it would be the most unfulfilling of relationships, for you could never be with your beloved test subject. Unless. Unless you broke them out. Such an action would be highly illogical and, more importantly, met with severe punishment. Are they worth all that? How to Play - Your character is either some sort of test subject/creature/weapon/misunderstood and otherwise tortured prisoner of science OR an outside party (scientist, doctor, janitor, visitor, journalist, sky's the limit). They meet their opposite. They fall in love. Bad Shit happens. Nobody's happy. - Comment with your character, preferences, role, info, all the good stuff. - Reply to others. - Be tragic and miserable together.

As a scientist, Kuja can be calculating but ultimately disagree with the higher-ups. Perhaps initially Kuja doesn't even care about the subject, but wants to show up his superiors. Slow burn or love at second glance both welcomed.))

Rapunzel’s heart beat fast as she slipped through the night, a dark cloak hiding the bright colors of her dress and long golden hair. She was nervous. This was the night she was rescuing Shrek, and she only had one shot.

It made her so angry that he was imprisoned for being an ogre. As if he had had a choice in the matter! As if that made him a bad person! As if it made him lesser than anyone else! Her heart broke for him. Trapped, lonely, isolated...

Rapunzel had been all those things before he saved her.

Now it was her turn to save him.

This plan had taken months to put together. She had gotten a job in the kitchens, keeping her head down, learning how things worked. Nobody liked delivering food to the guards and prisoners, so she had volunteered. It gave her a chance to at least see Shrek briefly now and then. Those moments kept her going.

Then this evening, she had slipped healthy doses of sleeping powder into the guards’ food. She found the keys and raced into the dungeons, right to Shrek’s cell.

“Shrek! Shrek! I’m here, I’m getting you out!” she hissed through the bars. Her hands shook as she began testing the keys. Hurry, hurry...she had to get them out of here fast.

[Axel didn't expect to be captured. Not on a routine scouting mission, not this way. Apparently he pinged some kind of sensor - he doesn't know it, but it was designed to pick up on undead. His lack of heartbeat kind of tipped it off that he wasn't anything like human, and before he knew it he had armed police knocking him down, ripping back his hood and cuffing him.

He spent the next day being poked and prodded - as something new and perplexing, he represented potential advances into magic. Then records of his existence were mysteriously lost, a report that a rogue ghast was incinerated was put out, people were health-checked, and he was moved. He was moved... handcuffed in a dog crate, at 3 am, to a secret facility. He's not pleased. And something about this place, about the cuffs he's had on since he first got captured, is stopping him from burning the whole lab down... or just leaving.]
