[Mary's New Year's Eve is a relatively quiet one, despite the fact that she spends it at Lux, Lucifer's nightclub. To her seems a bit like Sodom and Gomorrah, which is why she stays on the edges of the room and ensconced in the back, coming out to drink or speak with some of Lucifer's guests, but not to dance. If Lucifer wants to dance with her, he may find her later. She knows that she will have to get used to his lifestyle if she intends to be with him, but it will take some time. Baby steps.

She emerges when the clock is two minutes to midnight and finds Lucifer at the center of the room, actually alone for a moment. Mary slips an arm around his waist.]

Time and days and holidays are a little funny out in space. But some things remain a constant. You hold onto them to mark the passing of milestones, familiar points to return to and share with friends. Birthdays. Memorials. Celebrations of victory.

So maybe it's not the new year of the moon they're currently living on, but that doesn't stop Caboose from staying awake watching the countdown back on Earth with wide eyes. It doesn't stop Sarge from getting overly hyped and setting off the cannons an hour early.

And it doesn't mean that Wash isn't going to step in behind Tucker when he's not looking, wrapping an arm around him, and resting his chin against his shoulder. He may or may not have gotten into the champagne, judging from the flush of his freckled face.

[ Lestallum feels like it's winding up for some big event rather than the passing of the new year.

For once, he's not really thinking about it as much as he probably should, but there's also noticeable differences from the first time they'd entered the city together or when they'd celebrated the Assassin's Festival. Noct had been excited for that. Now, it just feels like another reminder that more time has lapsed between where he is and where he should be, and he doesn't know if it's apparent or not when he drags his feet about getting out more once they've figured out the rooming situation at the hotel, making light of some promise to meet up right before the fireworks and whatever else is supposed to happen once the clock strikes twelve. At least it gives him time to take a nap and roll around fitfully under the blankets until he's more restless than sleepy.

Maybe it's also hunger that's got him a little aggitated, eventually abandoning his room – with messy hair and all – in favor of exploring and trying to lift his spirits. The few people he meets on his way out of the hotel seem like they're enjoying themselves, and he doesn't want to ruin that for anyone else, tugging his phone out of his pocket to consult it once he's outside. There are a handful of messages from Prompto, mostly photos of random places and one of a chocobo someone rode in on, and a couple from Gladio giving him a heads-up on where he'll be if he needs him. Noctis doubts he will, but he sends off an affirmative anyway, pulling up Ignis' contact info and letting his fingers hover over it briefly. His head is suddenly filled with a handful of questionable things, and he tries his best to seem nonchalant when he texts him. It's a couple hours before midnight; there should be plenty of time. ]

want to get something to eat? I'm starving [ ... or it's really just an excuse to spend more time alone with him, but either way, this is his attempt at planning ahead. ]

Celebrating the turn of the year is something that is done in a handful of systems across the galaxy but not among the Order. In the First Order, it's really just marking time and scheduling something else and any sort of celebration would be an aberration in an otherwise neat system.

Still, Ren wonders if the turn of the year is something celebrated on Jakku. He thinks about Jakku a lot lately, sands and hot sun, and he knows this is the influence of Rey in his mind. He's long stopped resisting the bond between them and it's become almost conversational.
