[ The club is a useful cover. It is easy to move people and other materials in and out. It actually generates quite a bit of income, thanks to Emma. And is useful for laundering other revenue streams. The clandestine work of the Brotherhood demands Erik's near-total attention. He is the public face of the club, he signs the papers and gladhands the important guests. But he has very little to do with the actual decision making for any of it.

One thing he does take an interest in, and Emma eventually lets him handle as he quickly proves himself capable, is helping the performers find appropriate costumes. And those posing as performers.

There's just something so relaxing about lingerie fittings.

Today was one he had been looking forward to for some time. Rogue has struggled with the prospect, and he elected not to push her. She is undeniably beautiful, but if she is uncomfortable or self-conscious it will dim that delightful charm. And he can't have that.

He goes to his office, mixes himself a cocktail, double-checks the rack of samples, and sits on the sofa. It's not like the one Charles had in his office. This is white Italian leather in a sleek, modern style. He stretches his arms along the back and his legs out in front of him.

It's not terribly comfortable, but he likes the way it looks and that's what matters. ]
