Caught in the rain

It started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm. Time to find cover. Nothing much to do but to wait it out.

Scenarios listed below for those who want 'em.

i WHERE:
001 PLAYGROUND - Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of.
004 THE BEACH - Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm.
005 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it.

ii HOW:
001 TREE - Not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - Most conventional... Kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck.
004 BAG - Well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 NONE - You know what. You're a rebel. You don't need cover. Screw convention.
006 WILD CARD - that's the way you need it.

iii WHY:
001 REJECTED - Welp. Rejection sucks. And no one will see you crying in the rain.
002 WAITING - For the bus? For someone else? For some revelation? What are you waiting for.
003 MELANCHOLY - Sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain.
004 HAPPINESS - Is everything going your way? Are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? Just singing. Singin' in the rain.
005 ANGER - WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. SCREW YOU TOO, RAIN.

[ Akashi lifts a palm as if to tell her that it's okay. She can relax, and she doesn't have to apologise for anything. ]

It's quite alright. This is also something that teenagers have to go through, don't they? I admit, this is my first time getting caught in the rain.

First time ever?

[Then again, he probably didn't spend as much time outdoors as the rest of them did, since he didn't have to take the trains or the buses and his leisure activities were mostly indoors, save for riding Yukimaru. And one didn't ride their horse in the rain.]

Well, it can be fun if you're playing in the rain, but mostly it's an inconvenience.

[Satsuki wrinkled her nose.]

Anyway, let's get hot drinks after this so that we don't catch a cold, and then let's hit the arcade!

I can imagine.

[ How fun it must be to play in the rain, he means. Perhaps the younger Akashi would have wanted to try it out at some point. To chase his friends and step on puddles and experience something new. Not now, though. While this experience is shaking the foundations of what customs he knows and breathes, he feels that this should only be a one-time thing.

His short period of silence interrupted by a chortle that vibrates through his throat. Mild amusement can be seen in his features before he brings up a hand to run his fingers through his hair. Small wet beads toss themselves away from Akashi's red hair as his skin makes contact with them. His hand doesn't feel all that wet even after that, so the shade of the tree must really be working. ]

The rain should be stopping soon. [ It's mostly a guess on his end, but judging by how long they've been stuck, he's probably right.

Then again, when was he ever wrong? ]

It better!

[Satsuki wrinkled her nose up at him.]

[True enough, a few minutes later, the downpour lessened into a drizzle. The skies were still cloudy, but the slowing rain was promising.]

[Satsuki stuck her hand out, judging the drizzle to be mostly harmless at that point.]

Feel like making a run for it to the nearest station?

[ This is definitely one of the most adventurous days Akashi's ever had in his entire life.

He looks away for a moment as he surveys the area. Where would they run off to, he wonders, before looking back at Momoi and giving her a curt nod. ]

Let's go.

[She grabbed his hand, dashing with him through the light drizzle. The station was only a couple of blocks away - nothing that would wind either of them. Satsuki made to dart under awnings and other means of shade so that they could still avoid the rain, and no one really looked twice at them as they ran past. They were just usual teenagers, having fun while staying as dry as possible.]

[They finally made it to the station, and Satsuki finally let go of Akashi's hand, slowly down to catch her breath.]

Made it! A good arcade's just two stations away, and there's a nice cafe beside it.

[ Despite the run, Akashi doesn't seem exhausted. He looks Momoi over to make sure she's okay. Both of them have gotten mud on their shoes. It's not something Akashi can tolerate, but he tries his best to keep it in. It's just for a few hours until he can get his shoes cleaned. He'll be fine.

He runs a hand through his hair to get rid of some of the droplets, then brushes his palm on his pants to keep his hand dry. ]

Right. Let's get our tickets. Hopefully the wait won't be too long.
