Caught in the rain

It started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm. Time to find cover. Nothing much to do but to wait it out.

Scenarios listed below for those who want 'em.

i WHERE:
001 PLAYGROUND - Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of.
004 THE BEACH - Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm.
005 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it.

ii HOW:
001 TREE - Not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - Most conventional... Kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck.
004 BAG - Well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 NONE - You know what. You're a rebel. You don't need cover. Screw convention.
006 WILD CARD - that's the way you need it.

iii WHY:
001 REJECTED - Welp. Rejection sucks. And no one will see you crying in the rain.
002 WAITING - For the bus? For someone else? For some revelation? What are you waiting for.
003 MELANCHOLY - Sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain.
004 HAPPINESS - Is everything going your way? Are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? Just singing. Singin' in the rain.
005 ANGER - WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. SCREW YOU TOO, RAIN.

Coffee. [ He doesn't say anything else as he fishes around in his pockets for his phone, setting it on the table in front of him in case one of their friends call. He has a bad habit of either not noticing that it's going off, or ignoring it altogether — probably for the best that it's in sight so one of them can grab it if something comes up.

Afterwards, he leans back into the couch once more, like he's suddenly overcome with exhaustion. Maybe it's the rain, pitter-pattering against the widow, or the white noise of Isabella moving around the kitchen. Either way, he seems to be zoning out until he realizes she's looking at him. ]

...What? Something on my face?

[ Coffee it is~! She starts a bit when he addresses her, quickly turns and removes a mug from the cupboard. ]

... Nothing. [ What was she staring for anyway? Watching him though, it looked like he was about ready to doze off right there. ]

Are you really that tired? [ The rain is a pretty good reason for someone to get drowsy, she was just surprised even Ash was susceptible to that, for some reason. Maybe he had been working late? ]

[ He pointedly sits up, as if that will help to deny what it is already obvious: he's tired. Exhausted, probably, but that comes with the territory of being a detective, really. ]

Had a busy night. [ He says vaguely, rubbing the heel of his palm against his closed eye. ] You know, the usual.

[ Ah. She hit the nail on the head, it seems. And he's trying to cover it up as usual. ]

Maybe you should pass on the coffee then. [ Good thing she hadn't poured the water into the cup yet, just put the grounds in. She pursed her lips in a frown slightly. When does he sleep anyway? It's probably why he's so exhausted in the morning- why he hates mornings. She'd bet he doesn't sleep half as much as he should. After a moment, she steps around the counter and pads over hesitantly. ]

...You should get some rest. Even a few minutes will be better than nothing, and it's not like you'll miss Becca and Zach when they show up. [ She'll even reach for the remote to turn the television off. ]

What? No— [ Son of a bitch. That coffee would have done him wonders to get him through the rest of the day. As it is, he's probably going to have the stupidest sleep schedule in the universe if he naps now ( more so than he already does, let's be honest ).

He looks up to her, not entirely surprised by the insistence that he should sleep. She's probably done this countless times before with her siblings. It's endearing. ] You're worrying too much, I'll be fine. I got at least two hours of sleep last night.

Two--!? [ How the HECK does he function on only two hours of sleep? He should be a ZOMBIE. It's a good thing she /wasn't/ holding anything because she'd probably have dropped it. ]

Ashton. [ She pauses, about to add to that, but quite frankly she's /amazed/ he's still on his feet. Let alone was driving in that state. She's stupefied. On the one hand he's a grown man and... pppprobably knows what he's doing? Maybe? On the other, even Rebecca would have a fit if she knew how little he slept. ]
