You're a pop star, or a royal, or maybe even the last of your kind who will bring about the Earth's redemption. Whatever the case may be, you're in a position that may be a bit dicey if you attract the wrong kind of attention.

And you're a bodyguard, a soldier, a knight - a protector. Somehow, you've been roped into protecting this person. You'll be rewarded, of course. The work may be cut out for you, but just do your job, keep your head down, and it'll go smooth.

Except for when the two of you break the bounds of professionalism and feelings begin to flourish. Being in such close quarters may get you to see the other in a different light, and saving someone's life just may be the ultimate form of intimacy.

Could this be the real danger? To feel so strongly for the one you've sworn to protect...are you compromised?

How to Play

1. Comment with your character and preferences, being sure to put if you want to play the guard, the guarded, or either. Also, you may want to put if you prefer fluffy, angsty, or smutty interaction - or have no preference.
2. Comment to others.
3. There are no prompts, because there are so many potential options there could be a hundred. Feel free to play anything: the beginnings of the relationship, just meeting, getting used to each other/not getting along at first, the obligatory first time, a threat on the protected's life and how their protector responds, how the feelings between the two has changed the protection, etc. Your only limit is you.

But no I didn't think you were throwing shade one way or another or being confusing, I was just trying to feel out what your ideal preferences would be. I think Imma roll with the idea of an AU with Iri actually being the master and thus either her being a more advanced homunculus like her daughter and/or the grail able to be formed without turning her into a cup. Honestly the nitty details probably don't matter too much for one thread! Though I'm down to work them out if you want; feel free to PM me or just edit whatever else into the reply.

[ Honestly, he was pretty sure she made a better sword than he did shield. The best defense was a strong offense though, so while he was cleaning out his guns and re-checking his equipment for the second time this evening, Kiritsugu was going over his plans for tomorrow. Ultimately, Iri's plans took priority (to overstep that might make the overseer disapprove more of his presence) but... she did trust his council, usually. The Einzberns had worked with him for years, and he had met Irisviel all those years ago, working to make sure that she would be ready for this moment.

.... For Fuyuki.

Honestly, he wanted to smoke, but he was sure that the Servant she summoned would disapprove of him doing that in the presence of their master, even if she didn't. Still, he did look to her now and again, lamenting for what felt like the dozenth time today how this rifle he was working on weighed more than Illya.

... He'd gotten far too soft. Maybe being a bodyguard was a better use of his abilities now than to be a magus-killer. ]

[ irisviel glanced across the room towards where kiritsugu situated himself at. in an entirely different world, irisviel wouldn't have to fight, kiritsugu wouldn't have to hold a gun, illya would be here with them in fuyuki, spending time and sightseeing together as a family.

but the reality they lived in was vastly different; fuyuki wasn't a place to spend a family holiday in, it was the stage of a bloody war, and one that irisviel was seeking to win.

while irisviel had fully put her trust and faith in her Servant, she knew that she won't be able to go through this entire ordeal without kiritsugu by her side. after all, it had been him who taught her the entire world beyond the walls of the castle.

it had been kiritsugu who taught her that she was so much more than being a homunculus solely created to win the grail war.

iri nodded to saber with a soft pleading smile, the Servant returning the gesture in understanding, leaving the room briefly to stand guard outside. once saber had left, iri made her way towards kiritsugu, gently resting her palm against his cheek. ]

Kiritsugu?

Iri.

[ He pauses in how he's cleaning his gun, setting down the particular part (in this case, the stock of one of his sniper rifles) and the rag so that he might look over at her and meet her gaze more evenly. He'd been running mental exercises to ty to clear his mind, to become as sharp as he had bee before he had met her, before he had spent a long but short life with her, and before he had come to love her.

It was impossible, of course.

He leaned into her touch, a smile not quite coming onto his lips but a softer expression coming into his eyes. ]

I was preparing my weapons.
