The Body Heat Meme

Post with your character! They're now stuck in a very cold place of your choice. It can be anything, such as a freezing chamber, a cavern or a small cabin in the midst of a blizzard. The choice is up to you.
Comment around! Now your character has some company in this bone-chilling environment. The two of them share two things in common: clothes completely unfitting for this weather (be they summer clothes or even lingerie) and a blanket.
A blanket? Yes, just one warm blanket and no other ways to escape the cold. The two of them will have to share it in order to stay alive in this weather. Don't worry, you're sure to find a common language in this terrible situation!
So, uh, have fun, I suppose. Try to not freeze to death!
Protip: friction and body heat are both excellent ways to fend off cold.

"It is not his choice." Legolas said firmly. He rather resented his father interfering in this matter, nor did he entirely understand his reasoning. If he trusted Tauriel with the defense of their realm, why not with his son's heart? "It is ours, and ours alone."

He frowned a little. What if she did not feel the same? And the King's disapproval was but a graceful excuse to refuse him?

"But... I would never wish to cause you harm. Perhaps you do not feel the same, and do not wish to risk his... displeasure."

He felt it was worth it, but perhaps she did not.

“I do not know what I feel. I have never been given the chance to feel it without consequence,” she replied back, keeping her tone in check. She wasn’t upset with him, more the entire situation which was why it was easier to pretend like none of it was happening. Tauriel had suspected something was stirring between them long before Thranduil was making his very subtle remarks. She was not trying to turn him down.

Her eyes drifted downward to her own hands before looking back at him. “I have had to guard my heart for so long. See it from my perspective. If my king forbids me, what am I to do? If you listen to him and find another, I do not know how I would bare that,” she told him.

Her response was fair enough. He supposed if she viewed it as impossible, then why even allow yourself to entertain the possibility? Of course, he did not view it as impossible.

"I understand, but Tauriel..." He paused for a second, taking a deep breath before continuing. He had not intended to declare his feelings for her on this patrol, in fact it had been quite the opposite. He had been just as guarded with his own thoughts, not wanting to put her in an awkward position. However, sitting here, this close, he found it impossible to hold back any more. He was about to put his heart in her hands, it would be up to her what to do with it.

"There could be another. You have my heart, whether my father approves or not. I have told you, he does not commend us in this matter. And if he stands against us, and orders us away, then so be it. I would rather follow my heart with you, than follow my father and one day perhaps wear his crown."

She wasn’t surprised by his final admission. She kept her hand in his, focusing on every word he spoke. So then it was as she thought. He would, in fact, risk everything for her. She found herself smiling softly, still touching him. Perhaps such an admission should be awkward given that they were both naked. But it didn’t feel like that, sitting beneath the blanket next to a fire.

“You would truly do that for me? Come between your father? Forsake your birthright?” She asked. Tauriel was normally a confident person, but in this she needed to know for sure. They would be leaving everything behind if Thranduil did try and separate them, forbade them, or did actually exile them.

"In a heartbeat." He replied, without any hesitation. He then brought her hand to his lips to place a kiss on her knuckles. "And without any regrets. You are worth more than any kingdom, Tauriel."

And he meant every word.

She could feel the walls around her heart breaking at his gesture. It was the most wanted she had ever felt. To hear him say that had her softening at his touch. The she elf leaned in closer, taking in his comfort.

“Then perhaps it is worth it, to explore what I’ve never let myself feel,” she replied softly. “I do wish things were different. That it does not come to such drastic measures. But should it— should we find ourselves in such a position, I would be by your side.”

Nothing else truly frightened her, and if anything they already knew they were the best partners. They made each other stronger naturally.

When she leaned closer, he shifted and slipped an arm around her, drawing her near. He felt a sense of both relief and wonder at her words. Relieved that she had not pushed him away, and wonder that she might be willing to take such a risk with her.

"Then what else could I need, so long as you are with me?" He gently kissed her forehead, then smiled, meeting her eyes. "I daresay none can stand against us when we are together."

It could be frightening, and everything in her was telling her not to, but that only served to push her toward him and not away. Plus they had always been close in ways that she was not with anyone else. If he was truly willing to do this with her, than it was a fate they at least shared together.

Her smile was small, but soft. She could feel the warmth between them, and she let it settle there. It was a calming moment, intimate in a way they have not yet been. "Nothing should stand in our way," she replied, her mood lighter.

"Nothing." He agreed, taking her hand in his once more, this time with a little more confidence. "Besides, we are both so stubborn, only a fool would try."

Sensing how the mood had lightened, he felt more comfortable and at home with her once more. It was a relief to finally say what had been on his mind for so long, and he felt giddy with anticipation for what was to come.

Finally, he was no longer able to resist, and he placed a light kiss to her forehead once more, before kissing her lips as well. It was a light and passing sort of kiss. He wanted to be sure the gesture was welcome before he act more passionately.

"I am almost glad for this storm. This conversation was long overdue."

The kiss was soft, and she didn't feel pressured into anything. Instead she continued to lean into him, taking his closeness as a comfort. She smirked at his response before turning her head to look up at him.

"Admittedly I had been avoiding it for some time, though I had suspected as much," she told him. It was safe to say that everything would change from this point.

Looking back at the entrance of the cave, she could see the storm raging on. Commenting on the weather, she advises, "We may still be here for awhile."

Yes, everything would change, but he planned to do everything in his power to ensure that they were good changes.

Looking outside for a moment, he nodded, agreeing with her. The weather looked even worse than before. The storm was raging outside, but he felt warm and somewhat content in the little cave.

"It seems so. It is far too wild outside to risk venturing out." He then looked back at her, smiling a little and slipping an arm around her to draw her nearer, and pulled the blanket closer around the two of them.

"At least I have good company."

The fabric of the blanket was keeping them just as warm as the fire itself, though she knew it was also the warmth of their bodies now pressed together. Tauriel no longer felt awkward about it, but settled into his side nicely.

"I think you are the only one I could sit so close to," she told him. Even if she just barely exploring how she truly felt about him, she could never be this close with anyone else. This just seemed to feel natural, another confirming fact that this was meant to be.

"That is well, for I would be extremely jealous if you did." He teased, though there was truth to his words. He imagined seeing her with another would wound him deeply.

He looked over at her, watching how the firelight reflected the copper in her hair. It suited her, and he could not resist catching on of those strands and carefully tucking it behind her ear.

"There is no one I would rather sit with." He told her with a smile. "In good weather or bad."

She blinked, looking over at him with a smirk at his first comment. He knew full well there was no one else nor were elves the type to be so intimate with anyone whom they weren't extremely close with. He was the only one.

"I would prefer warmer weather, but sitting fireside is... oddly comforting," she said. Romance may not have been her style, but it was fitting now that they were comfortably resting with one another. She could easily stay like this until they fell asleep together.

"A good drink and a more comfortable seat would not go amiss, but yes, the fire is rather pleasant."

He rather liked that she was not overly romantic. They could just be comfortable together, like the old friends they were, without having to worry about impressing one another. Besides, she felt right there by his side.

"We shall have to do this more often." He hoped they could spend many more nights together like this. Well, perhaps not quite like this. He could do without the winter storm raging outside, but he would certainly enjoy sitting with her in front of a warm fire, or perhaps stargazing, many more nights in the future.

"Tauriel, when we return I wish to speak with my father and make my intentions known." He paused, looking over at her. "With your permission."

It seemed fair to ask, since declaring his feelings for the Captain openly would effect her just as much as himself.

"I think we should do it a fair amount more," she told him. In truth she wanted to see where this could go now that it was an option. It might be hard for them, seeing how well Thranduil takes it. But then he's already made it clear he was willing to fight for her.

"Of course. Do you wish me to be there?"

He paused for a moment, considering that question. On the one hand, he felt he would gain strength having her by his side when he confronted his father. This matter certainly involved her, and she had a right to hear what his father had to say. On the other, he worried his father might lash out at her. Legolas was his son, and in the end, he could only become but so angry with him. Tauriel did not necessarily have that same protection, though he knew that his father was rather fond of her, and always had been.

"I would like you there, but I am not sure it is entirely wise. What do you think?"

She had a different perspective on his father, and he valued her insight.

“I’m not afraid of your father,” she replied back, lifting her chin to look back at him. But she knew that wasn’t necessarily the problem. Thranduil was going to be tough, and she knew her presence may encite him.

“But he may take it better coming from you. I will be there if you need me to, but it would be your decision, Legolas.”

"I never thought you were." Legolas assured her, smiling a little. "Even when we were small, you showed no fear. I did not know someone could glare so fiercely until I met you." He teased with a smile, remembering his friend as she was in those days. That fierce little elfling who would never let him win at anything simply because he was the Prince.

He then paused for a moment, considering and playing out the conversation with Thranduil in his mind. "But I think perhaps I ought to talk to him alone first."

This was a conversation that needed to take place between father and son. It was not going to be easy. His father was fond of Tauriel, but he did not see her as a match for his son. To open his father's heart to the idea, he would need a great deal of convincing. The King was a private person, and so having this conversation between them alone first was probably the best course of action.

"Bursting into the throne room, with you by my side, declaring my love and devotion to you, no matter what he may say, probably is not the best idea."

“I had the same thought,” she replied in response. Thranduil would likely dig his heels in deeper on the matter of her. Legolas knew how to approach him. It was at least worth a shot if it meant trying to keep their lives the same, keep a family together. “If you needed me at your side, I would always be there though”

Whatever he would need her for. Just like she knew he would always be there for her, as he had always been.

It meant a lot that he would say that, all of it. She gave him a gentle smile in return. “I do not know what else I could offer, but ask it of me if there is anything I could do,” Tauriel responded to him. It may not be an easy conversation to have, but she could already tell that since they had their own much needed conversation, she was letting herself feel things she never had before. It was good to feel less restrained.

"Thank you." He shifted slightly to draw her into his arms, enjoying the feeling of having her so close. "But you offer enough by just being yourself. Knowing I have you by my side in heart is truly all I could need."

Her grin widened at that. She had known for sometime deep down that he had felt this way. It felt good that it was out in the open now. "We should probably rest. It will be a long day tomorrow," she told him, knowing they had to trek back, and he was likely to see his father at some point.

"You are right." He keeping an arm around her he tucked the blanket in closer, so that they could rest against one another.

He doubted, however, that he would be able to quiet his mind. At the moment it was reeling with all that had transpired between them in the cave, with this open and honest conversation, and all the possibilities the future now held.

"In the morning, when the storm passes, we shall journey home."
