[It's a vow he never knew he was making when he slipped that ring on his finger but it's true. He'll protect her. Anytime she's in trouble as Chat or as Adrien he's going to be there and keep her safe.]

[There was just no way she could explain what was really bothering her without giving away her little secret, and she was sure that Tikki would find a way to murder her if she did so. And so, flimsy excuse, ahoy!]

[She even had the foresight to look worried as she glanced over at the window. Speaking of which, she was curious about whether or not Tikki had found any food. The fact that she hadn't come back yet was a little worrying, but there was nothing she could do about it.]

[That might've been a pretty negative way to look at things, but she was also a realist when she had to be. As much as she wanted to believe that the world was all sunshine and puppy kisses, things were just not that simple.]

I... Is this because of the akuma alert a bit ago? I'm sure Ladybug and Chat are fine their suits are like magic right? Must protect them from the cold.

[He's trying to reassure her without giving it all away.]

And and they'll get people home safely. You don't need to be scared. Who knows maybe they'll come get us and see us home.

[He's wondering if Plagg ran into some trouble. He hopes not. Maybe in a bit he can say he needs to move around and leave Marinette here in blanket while he goes looking for his kwami.]

[He opens his mouth then closes it again. It takes him a minute before he's speaking softly.]

[He hates the thought that she worries about him,]

[It might've been believable if she hadn't said it so quickly.]

Yes. I just... What if they're still out there somewhere, unable to get to shelter? Do you really think they're okay?

[As far as she knew, Adrien knew as much about them as Marinette was supposed to, so if he thought they were okay, maybe she could believe it too. Still, she remembered how much colder she'd felt when the timer ran out.]

But what if he's ... I mean what if they're not Ladybug and Chat right now? Wouldn't that be bad?

[She wanted to believe him, she really did. But she knew for a fact that Ladybug would not be coming to get them and take them home. Speaking of which, it was going to be awkward getting Tikki back. And why hadn't she come back yet?]

You're so nice. And warm.

[Oh. She hadn't really meant to say that part out loud. But it was the truth, and she couldn't regret saying it, despite how awkward it might make things.]

[He starts softly with a shake of his head before squeezing her tighter.]

If there's anything Ladybug and Chat Noir are it's resourceful. I'm sure they're curled up together somewhere safe.

[Adrien frowned, swallowing before closing his eyes.]

Without the suits they're still Ladybug and Chat Noir. They'll manage, they're smart as can be. Who knows they might be huddled up like us. I can't see that as a bad thing.

[Idly he's wondering if he should go looking for Plagg. Surely he's scrounged something up he must have to be taking this long. As she comments on him being warm and nice makes him hold back any comment about getting up to go look for his kwami.]

I'm glad to hear it. That means you're comfy and warm.

[His eyes drifted closed and he snuggled her close. She's right this is nice, he's missed this kind of thing.]

Sorry. I guess it's kind of dumb to worry about them, right?

[She felt her cheeks burning when he held her tighter, but she knew for a fact that he was wrong about the heroes being together. There was just no way she was that lucky...]

I'm sure you're right. Yea, you're probably right. There's no way they'd get caught out in the snow like this.

[Now that she said it, it was almost easy to believe. Except for the simple fact that she had gotten caught out in the snow.]

[Of course, she realized that Tikki could be coming back at literally any moment. That worried her more than it probably should have. But maybe her kwami would realize she wasn't alone and she'd know to stay hidden. It was the best she could hope for at the moment.]

[As it happened, she was very warm, and it was only partially because of the blanket. But it was nice, and only slightly awkward, and before she could really think twice about what she was doing, Marinette found herself curling up against him and laying her head on his shoulder.]

I-... Is that okay?

No. Don't be sorry and I wouldn't say it's dumb. I'm sure... I'm sure they'd be happy to know you cared so much.

[He was worried about Ladybug, too. But it wasn't like he could prioritize his Lady over Marinette. Ladybug had a magical yo-yo and suit even if she'd been running out of time. Marinette didn't have those things and he was here with her. He trusts his partner to be okay. He has to.]

Even if they're not together we have to just trust they're both fine.

[He has to believe that just like he has to be believe that Plagg isn't dumb enough to come to him when he hears him talking to someone else..]

[As she snuggles into him he can feel his heart start to race a little but he's fine. Reaching his fingers run though her hair as she makes herself at home using him as a pillow. Why is he reacting this way though that is the question.]

[Maybe he'll luck out and she'll drift off. Then Plagg can come and he can transform and carry her home to safety.]

[She realized how silly it was to worry about Chat when he was probably fine. But she couldn't help it. If he wasn't frequently putting himself in unnecessary danger, she might not have been so worried. But he had the irritating habit of trying to get himself killed nearly every time she turned around. So she worried. Constantly.]

They've survived worse things, so I think you're right. Of course they're fine. I'm just worrying for no reason.

[She was just going to believe that Chat was being careful for once, and that Tikki was simply taking her sweet time in searching for food.]

What about you? Are you warm enough? I can move if you need me to?

[Did she want to move? No. But she would if he needed her to. Her eyes fluttered closed and she made a soft, content noise in the back of her throat when he played with her hair.]

I'm glad. But I'd still worry even if it wasn't.

[Her voice was barely above a whisper, and she hadn't really meant to say it out loud. But she was starting to get sleepy, and she was used to blurting out what she was thinking when he was around, anyway.]

Of course I am! If I know Chat, and I do, by the way. He's found a building to hold up in til the storm passes. And we all know Ladybug is the queen of plans and preparedness.

[It warms his heart but hurts all the same to know that Marinette is worried about him. Would it really be the end of the world if he told her? Guilt is viciously clawing away at his insides. But telling her would make her worry even more wouldn't it? Akuma attacks and his habit of leaping in front of Ladybug when things went bad... He can't do that to Marinette! He can't hurt her like that.

His hoping his Lady is in a better situation. Maybe she made it to somewhere warmer.]

Yes, they have. I wouldn't say it's no reason but I would save it for if we don't see them in a few days.

[Mentally, he's making a note to make it a point to be seen tonight or tomorrow so people know he's okay.]

[He's watching her eyes close and that so little noise is adorable so he's busying his fingers with her hair, massaging her scalp gently.]

This is more than fine. Don't worry. If I wasn't okay with this I'd have gotten up by now or not suggested it at all. It was my idea to cuddle like this, after all.

[That made her wonder, but she chose not to question it for now.] Mmm... you're right. Chat's pretty clever, and Ladybug is always impressively prepared for things. They're fine.

[She just wasn't going to think about the handful of near-misses. Or Chat's habit of doing stupid things. Or how she wanted to smack him every single time and tell him not to do it because it would kill her if something actually happened to him, or if she couldn't fix him.]

[Ladybug, at the very least, would be seen later. And she still had every intention of hunting down Chat.]

[Not only that, but she didn't want to run the risk of him bumping into Tikki accidentally. But then he's massaging her scalp and it's a pretty effective distraction for the moment. And now she's just leaning into his hand.]

[Only now her worry is rubbing off on Adrien. What if she wasn't? What if the snow messed her up somehow and she slipped or fell? What if she broke something and was laying in the snow freezing? When he speaks again it's absent and far away.]

[If he finds Plagg he needs to alone to transform but Chat appearing and Adrien being gone is bound to raise questions.]

[In the meantime, her worry seems to have died down a bit.]

You're right. Maybe we should worry less about them and more about us! Ooh, maybe if we're lucky, they'll come and rescue us.

[Maybe if she kept saying that out loud, she'd really start to believe it, and he would too. Still, she hoped Tikki was alright. Surely she'd found something to eat by this point. Maybe she could sneak away... and Ladybug could come back and find Adrien. That would put him at ease!]

No. I'm not going to sit around hogging the blanket while you go off and try to find something to help us. I'd never do that to you. We're in this together, and we'll figure out a way together. [He was right, of course.] That's one of the things that friends do, yes. But friends also don't shove all the work onto other friends.

If we're lucky sure. That would be pretty awesome. I mean I've been saved by Ladybug before so..

[He blinks at her and smiles gently but it's not reaching his eyes.]

[Yeah, okay he needs to go look for Plagg. There's no question to it now. Now that his mindset is flipped he can't stop seeing it. The panic he can feel clawing at his insides is almost at the level it was when she' leapt into the mouth of a dinosaur. He can't sit and wait.]

But what if someone comes looking for us? If they don't see someone they might leave. One of us should stay here in case someone comes. Like what if Alya or someone got worried and contacted Ladybug or Chat? [He's smiling gently ruffling her bangs.]

You're not putting all the work on me. I'm not even going to do much more than try to find something we can put in the fireplace or scrounge up something else we might need.

Maybe we'll get lucky. And I've been rescued by Chat Noir before, so I suppose it's pretty likely that either of them could come find us.

[There was something not quite right about that smile, but she didn't want to push it.]

[If he did wander off, she might just take the opportunity to look for Tikki. Sure, there were only so many places to search in this cabin, but she'd just have to hope that she could avoid him long enough to make sure that her kwami was alright.]

['At least as far as you know.' Either way, she's smiling at the affectionate gesture.] If anyone would call them, it'd probably be Alya.

Mmm... if you're sure. I suppose that means I need to move. [And now she's trying not to pout at the thought of moving, because he was warm and he smelled so nice and- ... okay. Maybe moving would be a good idea before she did something to embarrass herself.]

[Thank goodness she doesn't pry. He doesn't know what kind of answer he could give her.]

It's just I'm worried. That's all if we get snowed in here it could be a problem.

[And his phone doesn't have service. He'd checked. His baton didn't either so much for magical technology. Storm - 1 Chat baton - 0.]

[He's lightly kissing her forehead.] I won't be far away. If you get scared or worried just shout for me and I'll come back. Promise.

I'm sure and sadly yes it does. [Gently, he's unwinding his arms from around her.] Up you get, Marinette. [He's helping her to her feet, his hands on he hips to help her steady herself til he's sure he's got it.]

I should be able to. If not we'll just be stuck cuddling til things ease up.

That would be a great story, wouldn't it? [And highly unlikely, but alright. She'd let the boy dream.]

Oh god, I'm sorry for worrying so much that you're worrying now. [And that made more sense in her head, but whatever. She's just shaking her head and chuckling.] I'm sure we're going to be fine, Adrien.

[Unfortunately, all the snow did nothing to help cell service - magical or otherwise.] Hey! Maybe we could try to find something to make a sign for the window, that way we can both look around for stuff to build a fire, or food or something. [Why this hadn't occurred to her before, she had no idea.]

Okay. I can do that. [Truthfully, she didn't want him to move because he was warm. But honestly, if they stayed like that much longer, she would probably fall asleep.] The same goes for you. If you get scared. [Which she doubted, but she felt like she should extend the offer.]

Boo. [And now she's fighting the urge to pout as he releases her, though his hands on her hips are nice, and actually pretty helpful in steadying herself on her feet again.]

Yea, that would be a hardship. [Marinette is just smiling at that one. And then, before she can talk herself out of it, she's stretching up to press a kiss to his cheek.] Good luck!

Absolutely! Just imagine how Alya would flip out. [Which 100% is not going to happen because surprise Chat is right here.]

No, I was already worrying about them just doing a good job at hiding it is all. [He rubbed at the back of his neck with a sheepish smile.] Sorry. It'll be fine. I'm sure.

[Adrien blinks at the suggestion before nodding.] That's brilliant! You're really smart and creative. Of all the people I could get stuck with in the middle of a snowstorm, I'm glad it's you. [He grins at her and gently squeezes her shoulders.]

Good. I won't have you get cold. [He smiles gently, cuddling her closer as if that would give her an extra burst of warmth to help before they part.] Of course, If I get scared. [He laughs softly and smiles. He knows he isn't likely to but it's sweet of her to give him the same offer.]

It won't be for too long. I promise. [He's holding her steady before moving to his own feet. Gently, he takes the blanket once they're off of it and bundles her up in it carefully.] There we go nice and toasty.

Oh absolutely the worst. [He rolls his eyes as he teases her back. Then she's kissing his cheek and he grins. His fingers lightly ran through her bangs.] We'll talk about this when we're not freezing. [Then he's hurrying away to go searching for Plagg in the kitchen.]

Yea! She'd be so jealous. [At this point, it's more likely that Chat would show up by himself. But that's not important.]

Well I'm sorry for worrying so much that you couldn't hide the fact that you were also worrying! [And that just sounded ridiculous, but whatever. Maybe it would be enough to distract him from worrying?] Don't be sorry. Everything will be okay.

[She's just laughing at that.] It just seemed like a smart idea. And I'm glad that I'd be your first pick to be trapped with. That's sweet. I think. [It was, actually. She could think of stranger compliments.]

My hero. [She wanted to ask why it was okay for him to be cold, but not her. But in the end she decided it wasn't important in the grand scheme of things. And she's more than happy to soak up all the cuddles he's willing to give her.] Good.

[It was on the tip of her tongue to say that any amount of time would be too long, but that would be ridiculous. Logically, they probably couldn't just sit around and cuddle. Not if they wanted to figure out how to get out of this.] I know. I trust you. [She's smiling as he bundles her up in the blanket. At least it was still warm.] Thank you.

[Once he's left the room, she's drawing the blanket in tighter around herself and taking a long look around for anything that might be helpful in the sign-making process.]

[Yeah well she'll be jealous of Marinette. Because once he finds Plagg he's transforming then making a show of coming inside and finding her - then Chat is taking her home.]

No, no it's not your fault. I'm just fussy and I worry about people after they save my butt a few times you know? Their suits just don't look very warm. [Only well they're not that cold either but they would be in this weather for too long.] They're fine. It'll be fine. [He's going to be calling Ladybug as soon as he can after he gets her home.]

[Once he's got her settled he's sprinting off into the other room and yes after a bit of opening and closing cupboards he's finding Plagg and yanking him out. Silently he's gesturing to his ring. An instant later there's a muted flash of green and Chat is standing there. Now how is he going to do this exactly?]

[Are they really going to argue about this now? Because it's pretty silly. And yes, she did know something about that.] I know the feeling. It would be hard not to worry about someone like that. You're right though. They just have the one layer... and Ladybug doesn't even have shoes, for crying out loud! [Yes, that's something she's never going to let go.] You're right. [Despite what he'd said, Marinette was confident that he would have come up with the same idea.] That's because I'm clearly really good at being caught in a snowstorm. [Or she's clearly full of it. Either way. She certainly didn't envy him for being trapped with Chloe.] You might be right. But I guess I just figure that freaking out wouldn't really help anything. So it's smarter to just stay calm. [Mari just smiles up at him.] You think I'm a good cuddler? [Was that a compliment? Because she's totally going to take it as a compliment.]

You should be. And I meant it. [For now she's just going to focus on something - anything other than the fact that he's going off on his own. And she's definitely not going to say something ridiculous when he leaves!] Well, yea. I know that. [As much as she might want to just keep sitting here where it's warm, Mari knows that she should probably get up and make a proper attempt to find supplies to work on that sign. With a resigned sigh, she's getting up and taking another look around, as though this new perspective might give her a clue.]

[Adrien blinked. He hadn't thought of that before but she's right. Ladybug didn't have shoes or boots like he did. God let her have gotten inside somewhere nice and warm.] They'll be fine, Mari. They're both smart and Chat would make sure his Lady was safe. It's his duty as her partner.

[He snorted softly.] I don't know about that but you're much better prepared for me to be out in the snow. Remember I didn't even have a coat or jacket when I went out last Christmas? [Leaning Adrien kissed her forehead.] I'm proud of you and yes. The best cuddler.

I know you do. [The word Princess almost slipped out but he bit it back. But now that he's away from her and he's Chat. He's moving as quietly as he can then he's running up the stairs to go 'look'. Climbing out of a window there, he's landing with a thump before moving through the snow to the door - peering inside through the window before drawing it open.]

There you are! [Chat is bounding inside and scooping up the bundle of Marinette and the blanket.] Let's get you home, Princess. It's too cold to be here...

[When they get out of this, Marinette is going to have a long talk with Tikki about perhaps making some modifications to Ladybug's suit. Even if it was just the addition of shoes or something, it would be a start. But first they needed to get out of this. He's right, though.] That's why Chat is the best partner! She's lucky to have him.

[She's just smiling at that.] That's okay, Adrien. There's no way to be prepared for anything that could possibly happen. And I doubt you were trying to get caught in the snow... unless this was all some devious plan to get me alone~ [Which was absolutely ridiculous and she knows it. That forehead kiss just makes her giggle.] I'm proud of you too.

[Once he's gone, she's immediately debating on if she could get away with going to find Tikki. Fortunately, her kwami made the decision for her and a few seconds later she came floating back into the room. She'd just managed to stow away inside Marinette's coat when the sound of the window opening drew her attention and she turned in time to watch Chat Noir hopping inside.]

You found me! [It was probably the most ridiculous thing she could've said, but he'd surprised her even if she'd somehow been expecting him. Before she could even say anything else, he was scooping her up with the blanket, and she threw her arms around his neck.] Wait! My friend is still in here somewhere. We can't just leave him.

They're lucky to have each other. [He smiled happily at her before tilting his head.] They're a team. The best team. I know and no - no I guess you can't always be prepared.

[Adrien smirked.] Why, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, are you calling me sneaky? I can be but I'd never put either of us at risk of having to face hypothermia for something as silly as spending time together. That's just dangerous.

[Chat laughed at her softly cuddling her to the warmth of his chest.] Don't worry, Princess. No that we know were you both are, I can send Ladybug to come get him or come back to get him myself. If we go now I can be back a lot faster - I'll even drop him off at your bakery so that you'll be able to help him warm up and keep him out of the snow until it dies down and he can get home safe.
