It's the event of the season and you're going (whether you protest or not). Or perhaps it's just a work event. It could be one of many things, but your appearance is required so you had better dust off the tuxedo or the ballgown (or even the awkward cocktail dress) and make your way there!

[ Parties were something Beatrice's family reveled in. If there was an excuse to throw one, they did. Her uncle's annual holiday office party had been a tradition for as long as she could remember, and it was not the first since she had joined his legal firm.

Beatrice came alive at such events, so long as the company was good and the drinks were better. Things had started out well enough that year. Hero had been in rare form, pink-cheeked and giggling after one glass of champagne, but she had soon been distracted by the firm's latest hire. Last she had seen them they had been a corner making bedroom eyes at each other. Her uncle, being the host of the party had to mingle with everyone. Benedick was there, but the further from him, the better.

So she had done her professional duty, mingling with the various staff and clients as she sipped from her fluted glass, which she managed to refill whenever it reached half empty. But thus far, no one had struck her fancy. Mostly, they were dull or insipid. And while professionalism kept her from saying so, inside Beatrice was dying of boredom.

She was stuck with a particularly obtuse gentleman, twice her age, who was floundering in his attempts to flirt with her. Under most circumstances she would shut the man down without a second thought, but he was a wealthy client, and one they would not like to see go from their bottom line. So instead she plastered a smile on her face and tersely tried to change the subject while she thought of a reasonable excuse to step away. ]

[Their worlds really never had much of a chance to collide when it came down to it; outside of their relationship, neither of them seemed to ever have ability to get the stars aligned enough to make something like this happen. And he's sure as hell not about to start showing Kiyoharu what his side-gig is, so with that out of the question, he's left with this. A ticket in his hand granting him entrance to see Kiyoharu perform. Oddly enough, it feels like a weirdly... big step, or, well, foxtrot, in how they defined themselves around each other.

He's seen youtube clips before, so he has something of an idea of what this is supposed to look like, but being there, in the crowd, live. Well, if anything, this was going to get a lot more intense. This wasn't seeing your boyfriend at a varsity match. This was seeing national level competing, surrounded by people who cheered him on and awaited, watching him and his every step, judging and guffawing and clapping to fixate their eyes on him.

Which was weird to Ryuji. Up until this point, he's never had the thought of anyone else looking at Kiyoharu. They're alone when they're together, and sure, he thinks he's seen a side of him that not many people have, or ever will, but this side is something that everyone else has come to love. It's jealousy, in a weird way. Ryuji sits forward in his seat, ever the one to have trouble keeping still, as he watches the first few performances. Everyone looks so pretty- something the blond punk would never see himself as, out there on the floor with everyone watching.

The pair next to him are about the only ones in the crowd that look remotely under the age of 20, but from the excited look in their face and the cheering that they make when the next set of dancers take the floor, he has a funny feeling---

Ah.

Yeah. There he is.

He tilts his head, sucking in air against his teeth.

Tch, of course. Kiyoharu looks amazing.

He wonders if some of those thief skills he's learned over the last year are good enough to get him to sneak backstage.
