① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.

② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?

③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.

④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!

⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.

⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.

[ Hanamura only gets snow for a few weeks out of the year, but it's a time that Genji appreciated even when he was young. Not only the beauty and the tranquility of the landscape, not only the chance to wrap a blanket around him and drink a steaming cup of tea, but the opportunity to drop a snowball down his older brother's back had been impossible to pass up as well.

Those were fonder times, and returning to his homestead now (when it's no longer home) brings forth a different sort of feeling. That bittersweet nostalgia that somehow still lights up in his chest, like a nervous bird jumping around his ribs.

Maybe he shouldn't be here. Maybe he should. Is it a sign that he can't let go, or is it a way of learning to move on? A question his master would refuse to answer, he suspects.

Not that he's only here to relive the past. This Soldier: 76 leaves more tracks than he thinks, and Genji has been following him for a while. Imagine his surprise when the vigilante came so close to the Shimada clan's stronghold. It's actively snowing now, and perhaps 76 thinks that keeps him cloaked from prying eyes. But as 76 walks down a vacant path, a snowball will fly from out of nowhere and hit him square in the back of the head.

That's how the saying goes, right? Tokyo is an absolute mess right now. The subways have stopped running, there are entire streets with no one on them, hell, even the 109 is eerily dead at 3 in the afternoon.

But here Ryuji is, arms crossed and bundled in a few layers for once, and he's got this loser by his side who, for some reason, has decided to wander out into the post-snowpocalyptic world with him instead of spending the entire day practicing at his (completely polished, beautiful, expensive and, oh, don't forget heated, dance studio). Ryuji's buzzing with a mischievous excitement, radiant in the fact that he doesn't have to pretend being awake in class and bumps shoulders with the other.

He parts from Kiyoharu for a moment to walk over to a car.





And clearly draws the outline of a big, floppy, highly inappropriate male genitalia right on its windshield.]

[It was almost Christmas when the first snow started falling. Makoto just stepped out of her humble apartment and was immediately startled by the feeling of something small and wet falling on her nose. Looking, she was greeted with the sight of flake after flake dancing through the air on their way to the ground. How long had it been since she'd seen snow? Once it really sunk in, a smile came to her face. It was breathtaking.

The holiday atmosphere itself was less enchanting. Walking down the streets she couldn't even count the number of couples so obviously wrapped up in one another. Families. Friends. For all the people who've been a part of her life til this point, there's not one she feels she can share this time with. It was silly. Foolish...

Her feet instead carry her to an empty plot of land, nestled between crowded buildings. There's no one to meet her there; no warm greeting, only the cold press of a gently moaning wind. She doesn't know how much longer she'll be able to come here. There are already murmurs of the renovation project beginning. Once it did, this place would no longer exist. Not the way it did now.]

I know I'm a bit early but-- Merry Christmas onii-chan. Sorry I didn't bring a gift. I've been pretty busy lately. This is the first time I've really slowed down and thought about it but the year's almost over... Honestly I'm a little sad to see it go. This year was really special. But don't worry about me. Somehow he got talked into taking a vacation up in the mountains, and of course a blizzard came through and trapped him and everyone else there. Luckily the electricity, heating, and plumbing all worked fine – the roads were just buried under ice and snow, and would be for who knows how long.

Oh well. He takes a sip of the hot chocolate he’s holding and looking out at the snow as the sun sets in the distance. He’s seated in the lodge’s large-window-lined lobby. He is at least finally getting to relax, his mind able to temporarily set aside the worry that shadows him.

The vigilante isn’t in his hood, nor is there a bow in his hand or quiver on his back. Instead he’s dressed in a black t-shirt, blue jeans, white socks, and no shoes – he does however have a blanket draped over him. Being snowed in, wasn’t half bad.
