Billy Russo || The Punisher (MCU)

[ Caleb was pretty good at making a name for himself at the Bulletin. A few well-received pieces and he was being given some high-profile stories, allowed to do editorials when he wanted. But every now and then, he had to take a "lesser" story during a slow week. That's what led to the interview with Mr. Russo about ANVIL and exactly what the motivation behind it was. If and how it was deemed necessary despite higher security everywhere nowadays.

He didn't expect for it to get... less professional. But then most interviews don't end with the other person asking him out for drinks.

Off the record, it was surprisingly easy to talk with Billy. It was nice. Not that Caleb expected anything to come of it. He'd been down that road before with Matt. Other guys before that. So, while the first time hadn't been a huge surprise (the attraction was pretty obvious after the interview itself), the fact it continued to happen almost every week was.

Though the present week had been particularly busy, resulting in Caleb having to turn down the (now) routinely meet-up with the other man. He's still at his desk around eight, so busy looking over his notes he doesn't even bother to look at the screen with his phone vibrates. He picks it up and swipes blindly, giving a distracted, ]

[ Billy has never put much thought into it. He finds someone attractive, he takes them home - wash, rinse, repeat. An easy routine that he can do on autopilot, much like talking to the press. He'd of course taken care to read up on Caleb Page and what sort of pieces he wrote, had been prepared for the usual back and forth of the same questions. He hadn't been prepared to be sort of charmed. Caleb is quick and Billy likes that. He likes someone he can banter with and actually have a conversation with so ... Yeah. Of course he asks about drinks.

It ends up becoming a pretty decent distraction from all the shit going on. Cover ups and all that make for stressful work, so seeing Caleb becomes something Billy looks forward to. And he's trying not to get annoyed that he keeps getting rescheduled on.

Cue a phone call. ]
