The Coffeehouse Meme

it's a cold day...wherever you are. brrrrr. you are outside, walking around (maybe holiday shopping, or portal jumping, or maybe you clicked a weird pen or phone booth button and landed here. whatever the case, you are now outside a quaint little cafe in New York, right by Central Park, on snowy, December morning. did I mention that it's cold? you walk into the cafe and immediately feel the warmth of the room. there's a fireplace on each side of the little shop, which helps un-nip the frost on your nose. the baristas at the counter great you kindly, and tell you to have a seat and they will send over one of their girls to take your order.

1. make a comment (blank or otherwise) with your character's name and canon in the subject. they have entered the cafe. they can leave or stay or even sit down and read a book if they have one on hand. whatever your preference.
2. people respond with their characters meeting others inside the cafe. you can do whatever you want, except fight. oh, arguing is allowed, but sword fights? nope.

[ A day made colder by way of unicorn vomit of unnatural tones, purples and blues against strands of hair, the venti see-through cup precariously balanced against a neatly tied bun -- the cavity-inducing, sticky sweet beverage cascaded onto Goro's sleeve, the fabric no longer blanched as it clung onto the skin underneath, dripping towards the tiled floors below (first of all, why did this sentient thing latch onto him like that). The culprit: a child atop their father's shoulders, staring owlishly at Wataru in curious, joyful delight while their parents gawked in horror over the accidental occurrence of their child's antics. Apologies strewn, an assertive offer of free coffee accompanying it, as an employee from behind the counter emerges with a mop, all smiles -- so glad they weren't the victims to this tomfoolery.

So, fifteen minutes later -- a plethora of napkins sits by the edge of their table, two steaming mugs of the large variety untouched near the center, waiting to be cooled off. Goro absent-mindedly divides the pile into two uneven portions, fingertips latching on at random intervals, leaving behind unpleasant remnants of the crime scene as a mocking farewell. ]

It's a story to bring along with you on your way home, at least. [ The usual lift to his tone, comprised of well-mannered intentions, soft-spoken sympathies. ]

I'm sure you're aware of its general concept. But, to reiterate, the unicorn is universally known for a variety of positive adjectives. I suppose you can say the child thought of you as enchanting and wanted to express appreciation in some way. Perhaps they've witnessed a similar act on television, unsupervised...

[So normally he's not much of a coffeehouse guy. But that's the thing about being back in "civilized" society in between jobs: sometimes you really want a strong dark coffee in the middle of the day, and when that need strikes this is just the easiest way to get it. Even if it means putting up with long lines, young people that smell of patchouli, and weird twangy muzak on the speakers in the process.

Shaw is not perhaps in the best of moods by the time he gets his beverage and turns around to go. Though he's trying not to actively have a bad one. Still he scowls instantly as his path is blocked by another man of the same height as him, and he has to stop short and clutch his cup tightly to avoid a spill.]

This was a very odd place. Maka still had no real clue as to what was happening. The sun was off, there was no face on it and it wasn't animated. It was the wrong season, and not where she was supposed to be going, and Soul wasn't here with her. Odd.

Still, her cash worked. That was good. So she had a spiced, hot apple cider in her hands to warm her up as she glanced around at the full tables. She paused as she neared a table with a man who seemed to exude the need for solitude. The feeling of his soul drawing her in, making her curious. So she approached the one others seemed to avoid and ignore.

"Excuse me, sir. The tables are filling up. Mind if I sit here?" She smiled in an innocent fashion, looking nothing like the eighteen-year-old seasoned fighter she was.

[Atsumu steps to the table only to let his breakfast there and immediately steps back to the fireplace to warm up. This is the first time he's here, but probably not the last if winters are always like this in this city. He's cleaned most of the snow from his head and coat outside of the shop but he still feels like the cold was radiating from his bones.

He's in a good mood. As far as he can remember his mood was always good when snowing, all the four times when he saw real snow at home. Back then everyone talked about the snow. It was unique and some people thought that it would bring good luck for the next year. But here he knows no one but his hot chocolate.

A glance at the man sitting at the table convinces him must be someone who works i an office, probably annoyed of the bad weather and the saddening fact that another workday begins. Atsumu doubts he would believe if he told him that a miracle is happening outside.]

This place was odd. Maka shivered and looked around, thinking this witchy portal thing had gotten wrong the destination. She was not dressed right for this! Rubbing her arms and missing her gloves and ear muffs, Maka stepped inside the nearest cafe, hoping to get some information. Pausing at the door as she peered up out of habit toward the sun... How odd. The sun had no face.

Continuing in she stepped to the side, brows furrowed. Had she been transported, like, into another book or something? Looking to the gentleman sitting nearby she smiled brightly. "Hello, sorry to bother you. But by chance do you know where we are? I know it likely seems a silly question." She said, looking a little sheepish.
