ALWAYS COME BACK

And they'll, again and again, find themselves wanting you, for support, for healing, for feeling alive, for venting frustration and anger, for anything and everything at all.

[Happy version, Sad version or Angry version?]

He doesn't knock. He never knocks. When he's being nice, he scuffs his heel or lets the slipstream ruffle the curtains. Today it's the rain dripping off his hair and coat leave small traces on the carpet and a rather large painting hung against the wall.

The rain had been her fault. Remy had been gone a week longer than was necessary and three days longer than his usual languid pace. Worry had set in and even as she slept (lightly, fitfully), her mind was not far from thoughts of him.

Ororo stirs, brows knitting as she senses...something in her sleep.

Remy was not around as much as he used to be. He was restless and had wandered. It wasn't unusual for him to be away, but lately it seemed he was gone a little longer than usual... stayed away a few days longer. It wasn't a restlessness he could properly articulate but Ororo understood that need more than anyone. She understood him better than anyone.
It was why he came here, before even going to his own room.

Bending over her bed, he presses a featherlight kiss to her forehead.

Ororo sighed, stirring a little at the touch of his lips. Her eyes fluttered for a moment before opening. The smell of him and the elements did more to wake her than the kiss itself; cigarettes and fresh rain sent an instant jolt to her brain.

With a quiet groan, her eyes focused on the figure before her and for a moment - she froze. Surely she had dreamed him up in her worry and loneliness.

Surely...

"...Remy?" she asked, voice thick with sleep

"Didn't mean t'wake you." he murmurs in low tones, as if there were others he might wake if he spoke regularly. It is also arguable as Remy LeBeau can come and go more silent than a shadow when he wants to.
He brushes the tangle of damp hair back before it can drip on her and he presses another kiss to her cheek.

"M'home."

Half-awake she hugs him, unmoved by how soaked he is by the rainfall. She hugs him tightly enough to re-memorize the feeling of his coat and the broadness of his shoulders. She hugs him hard enough that she can't hide the shaking, or the staggered breaths in-between silent sobs. Is she relieved? Frustrated?

Yes.

The sky opens further, shedding the tears she often can't bring herself to. And for a moment, clinging to him is all she can manage because what if she wakes up and he's not really here.

"Oh Petite."

Remy hears the sky open and the rain fall and slips his arms around her, pulling her against him with a soft soothing noise. He feels a pang of guilt far deeper for having been away so long when the sky cries and she doesn't utter a word of complaint.

"I think maybe you missed me."

It's not teasing. Not quite. But it's gentle as his hand moves to brush her hair from her face and he presses kisses to her cheeks and forehead.

"I'm not a child."

Any chance of being taken seriously is lost as she grouses into the crook of his neck, voice thick. She holds to him as he sweeps her into his arms and simply breathes. It feels good to just be held by him after missing him so terribly.

"Do I get to see what took you away from me?"

She is teasing him, a little cross but smiling faintly as he presses a kiss to her forehead.

"Or is it fenced already?"

He chuckles a bit at her protest. It falls on deaf ears because some part of him will always remember fondly the child he rescued, although he had much enjoyed getting to know her as an adult. He strokes his fingertips down along her back.

"It's hanging on your wall. Probly be a day or two before I drop it off."

It's a challenge with her arms around him, but he shrugs out of his coat, dropping it to the floor so that it doesn't get her bed any more wet than it has.

"You want t'see?"

She feels him chuckle at her and he mentions that the acqusition is in her room. The frown is immediate, because Remy should surely know better than to bring something hot to a known associate. However as she considers how each of their individual reputations interact, she can't help the smile that threatens to overtake her concern.

The fact that he thought of her first gives her a little prideful thrill. Feeling him shift, she lets him go for as long as it takes for him to divest himself of his coat.

"Of course I do."

"Thought so." Remy grins when the initial frown fades. He never likes when she gives him those frowns, but She knows. Wetter than anyone that he's careful when he brings anything home and he knows that she misses the Robin Hood life they spent before she brought him here. He slips off the bed, and offers a hand up to help her out of bed.

She shoots him a look, 'don't get cocky' written all over it. It's mostly the pot calling the kettle, considering her own propensity for a healthy ego. He knows better than most how capricious she could be and how powerfully her whims could move her. Still, Ororo does take his hand and follows him.

"Do I get any hints?"

Telling a LeBeau not to be cocky is like telling a tiger not to have stripes. He gives her another cheeky grin and leads her over to where the painting is hanging. It's clearly expensive but not a masterpiece, flashy enough to draw attention. But it will still get a fair price when he manages to sell it.

"If you like it, I could let you keep it..." he offers, pressing his lips to her hair and filling his nose with the smell of ozone. He has been gone a while, he missed this.

"My apology for bein' away so long..."

She elbows him lightly, still smiling to herself at his grin. The painting gives her pause,head tilting lightly as she takes in the details of it.

"It's a bit modern for me."

It'll fetch a nice price for sure, regardless of her taste. She's proud of him. Leaning into him, she sighs.

"You could find another way to apologise..."
