It wasn't every day that one could win the heart of a princess. It was also wasn't every day that one could win the heart of a princess from another world. Zelda and Ruki had met within the Digital World by complete accident and, thanks to a series of mistakes, Zelda was stuck in Ruki's world, trying her best to make it through until she could really come home again.
Of course, this meant warming up to the more stoic girl, something Zelda's patience and warm heart got through to, even if she didn't want to admit it. And, of course, every day, she would be waiting for Ruki in her room, ever so gracious to her host.
"Welcome home, Ruki. Did everything go well?" she asked.
Ruki never could've imagined that she'd run into a honest-for-real princess in the Digital World, but it had happened. And every time they tried to get her back some mishaps would take place and now...Zelda couldn't go home. At least, not the way she'd arrived.
Still, she hadn't expected to have genuine feelings for the other girl. It took a while for her to open up to Zelda, but after some time she admitted it...to herself anyway. Saying it out loud was a different story. Ruki was able to smile lightly once returning home to see Zelda waiting in her room, much like she did every day.
"Hmm? It went fine. Enjoying yourself so far?" True she had to stay in her room, but Ruki's family had welcomed her in right away.
“Yes, I am. I’m still enjoying the things you have here. I never expected such things to exist!” Zelda said, excitement in her voice. She smiled softly as she reached out a hand to Ruki. “Would you like to be held again?”
It almost seemed like clockwork - Ruki got home, they talked and Zelda offered herself for comfort.
"...Sure." Ruki moved in close to accept Zelda's hand, allowing her smile to grow a bit and enjoying the comfort. A lot. But she wasn't about to admit it. Not just yet.
"They exist. Some stuff, we take for granted. Others, we try to hold onto as long as possible." Her tone was quiet, but loud enough for Zelda to hear.
