Most of the time, Harry has good days. Some of the time he has better days. Every now and then, however, he has a catastrophically bad day, which results in blackouts and butterflies and leaves him tucked up in bed under the effects of a mild sedative. He rarely remembers the details of those days; Hamish takes care of him very well and brings him up to speed when he deems him ready, although Harry is still in the process of learning how to deal with the frustrations that come with the gaps in his memory. They're horrible. They make him feels sick.

Today is a good day. The weather is miserable but the patter of rain on the conservatory is deeply soothing to Harry's often troubled mind, and he's spent most of the morning curled up on one of their plush wicker chairs with a new books in his lap. Today is a day off. No strange exercises to train his memory, no hours spend pouring over the different shapes of a butterfly's wings, but rather a day when they can just be Hamish and Harry with little more expected of them.

... That said, there's something Harry's been meaning to bring up with Hamish for a little while now, and he's already come to the decision that it's about damn time he did it. It's for this reason that when Hamish pads through to the conservatory with his hot chocolate in hand - Harry was in the mood for cream and chocolate flakes today - he closes his book, sets it aside, and makes a little gesture towards the spot next to him on the seat.

"Ah - Hamish. I was wondering if I might take a moment of your time?"

The smile he offers is small, sincere, and - intimate. Harry doesn't think he's ever really smiled like that for anyone else; even though he doesn't have all of his memories back, the feeling is unfamiliar enough on his face that it feels like a new expression. Perhaps he's glad for that. It's been impossible to ignore the flutter of something beyond simply butterflies in his chest, and he's capable enough of reading other people to recognise when there might be some sliver of hope worth clinging to.

The hope brightens when he's with Hamish. It soothes him when he aches, and it calms him when he feels as though he's seconds away from giving in to the storm. Harry extends an arm to take Hamish's hand and guide him down onto the seat.

"Please, sit with me."

[ This had been date number three now. Nothing more than making out. Which, honestly, Newt was going to continue to be patient for. Just seemed like a dick thing to do to pressure someone. Don't mistake him, though, he fucking wanted it. He'd ever wanted anyone as badly as he wanted Kurt. And it's not like he was into the whole mutant thing? It was just-- Kurt.

He was sassy and hilarious and witty and cute and interesting. And he was so. Fucking. Good looking. The dark fur and the gold eyes AND THE GOD. DAMN. FANGS. Those fangs were going to wreck him. Utterly destroy him. RIP in pepperonis, here lies Newton Geiszler who died from his crush being too damn fucking hot.

But there was way more to it than that. He knew it. He wasn't going to say it because that would be fucking weird on your third whole date but yeah. If he could help it, he wasn't letting Kurt get away for a long time. He didn't even bother with the whole 'want to come in for coffee' thing as they walked up to Newt's room at the institute. He just opened the door and held out a hand for Kurt to take. What happened after that? He could only hope. Then again kissing until they fell asleep again would not be turned down. ]
