THE ALPHA/BETA/OMEGA MEME

In our world, sexual roles are commonly defined by genders -- male or female or other, by sexualities -- gay or straight, bi or asexual or in-between. But what if they were defined by something else entirely?

Alpha/Beta/Omegaverse is a fusion of fanfiction tropes and animalistic behavior. In this world, sexual roles are divided into three categories: the Alphas (the dominant, the protective and the aggressive), the Betas (ordinary humans) and the Omegas (submissive, fertile and able to carry children).

ROLES:
1 - The Alpha.
* Stereotypically type A personalities.
* Anatomically: Males have a penis; females may have a penis in addition to a vagina.
* Alphas knot their mates, meaning that the base of the penis swells and locks them inside their mate while they produce copious amounts of semen in an effort to breed.
* Strong sense of smell.
* Near an Omega in heat, they experience a compulsion to mate that is almost impossible to overcome.
* Alphas may go into rut, which is their equivalent of Omega heat, and drives them to mate.

2 - The Beta.
* Ordinary human being.
* Males have penises; females have vaginas.
* Can mate to anyone.
* Might be able to smell hormones of Omegas and Alphas, but will not be overwhelmingly affected by them.

3 - The Omega.
* Stereotypically submissive, quiet, intelligent and less physically able.
* Female anatomy is similar to Betas; males are self-lubricating and may have either an external or internal vaginal setup.
* Regularly go into heat, which involves being overcome by the urge to mate. They are unable to consent while in heat.
* May be made compliant by a bite to the neck. However, that may also induce a mating bond.
* Often regarded as second-class citizens or prizes to be won.

SITUATIONS:
1 - Bonding - Love at first sight. You've spotted your soulmate. You can smell them, you can feel them, you know that they'll be with you until the end of your days. Unless there's something between the two of you. It could be age - maybe one of you has to wait until the other has reached maturity. It could be that the bond is one-sided, and the other has yet to fall in love. It could be an unwanted bond, or society could have divided you into different places. Is your love strong enough to conquer?

2 - Heat/Rut - The need is coming on you strong. Everyone for a half-mile around can smell it. Better find someone to ride it out with, or hole yourself up in a room with a few bottles of water and a durable sex toy. And you'd better hope that there isn't someone out there who will take advantage of your pliable state. Best case scenario, there might be a Beta who can take care of you, or fend off anyone too predatory.

3 - Pregnancy - Whether through a heat or not, you're pregnant. Congratulations - or condolences. Is it time to start a family, or time to start panicking?

4 - Suppressants - You're using suppressants to keep yourself on an even hormone cycle, skipping heats, or maybe pretending to pass as a different class of society. After all, Omegas might want to be in the military, where they're not usually allowed - or an Alpha might want to take a job in a university or as a nurse. Shouldn't they be allowed to, if their hormones are suppressed? Just hope that you don't miss a dose.

5 - Mistaken Identity - That friend that you always thought was an Alpha, or an Omega, or a neutral Beta, turns out to be something entirely different, and your world is turned absolutely upside down. Does it challenge your preconceptions? Or does it just ruin the balance between you two?

6 - Unlikely Pairs - After all, there's no actual reason that Alphas have to mate with Omegas. Maybe two Omegas can satisfy each other. Or two Alphas. Or your intended mate could easily be a Beta. Maybe this is just about breaking out of your pre-established role and becoming something new.

7 - Manifestation - In some cases, an individual may not know they are Omega, Beta or Alpha until their first heat/rut/manifestation, usually happening in early teen years. It may take you by surprise; it may be a blessing, or may be a deep disappointment.

8 - Other - Adventures in getting jobs, making families, fighting bad guys, and anything else you can come up with!

Her commitment to kissing him like Foggy-and-Matt instead of omega-on-the-verge-of-heat and alpha-going-into-rut lasts about fifteen seconds after getting her mouth on him. It was a valiant effort, really.

She's wet. She was before, but it's - now she's kissing him and he's warm and solid and wants her, and she needs more but she also needs to stop kissing him so she can get her shirt over her head and let it drop to the floor because she's too warm and the fabric's too much against her skin.

Her legs are suddenly incredibly wobbly underneath her, and she digs her fingers into his arms, trying to steady herself.

He draws his hand out from her pants, wiping wet fingers on his own before he moves to scoop her up, not breaking that kiss because he can't stand the thought of not tasting her yet. But he's the alpha, and she's not quite able to stand properly, so what kind of asshole would he be to make her try?

He doesn't even make a pretense of not knowing where the bed is, walking over to it and crawling onto it, moving to lay her out on it even as he's leaning down with her, unable to keep from being that close to her, even just for a moment.

Her body may have been telling her that his fingers weren't enough but now she's empty and that's - she lets out a quiet, unhappy whine against his mouth, and then she's being guided onto the soft bed, which is nice, and he's there with her, which is better.

Trying to think right now is like trying to sand in outspread hands but luckily it doesn't take a lot of actual thought for her to realize that she's still wearing her pants and underwear, and that needs to change even if they're not presenting much of a barrier right now.

He's just as aware, kicking off his shoes even as he's reaching for her pants, pushing them down over her hips, pausing to run his fingers up over her sides, to cup her breast as he kisses down her chest to bite at her nipples through her bra.

The scent of Foggy mixed in with that heady allure of omega was too much for him. It drowned his senses, but he couldn't find it in himself to fight or struggle. He wanted this too much. Wanted her. He pulls off her, head tilted up at her with wide eyes and pupils that might not be able to see what he was looking at, but that were dilated from his arousal, lips red as he licked at them. He had clearly been missing out, and they hadn't even fully gotten anywhere yet. He could smell her on his fingers, dragging his hand up to lick at them before he moved to start tugging at his shirt, one button ripping off as his patience started to fray.

She gives a shaky laugh at his question, and if her brain was a little less fried, she might - joke or something, but right now she just doesn't have the presence of mind. While he's getting his shirt off, she works on her bra, working the hooks clumsily until they finally let go and she can toss it somewhere out of the way.

It probably won't help his coordination any if she starts kissing him again but it's not the next thing she does, surging forward because they are not touching nearly enough right now.

His shirt was off, but he was ignoring his own pants and the tent inside them at the moment to try to get hers further down. And then she had to tackle him. He fell onto his back, pulling her with him, urging her to lay down on top of him. He liked the feel of her weight, of that solid presence, and when her hair fell down over the side of his face, he felt like he was lost in a world of him and her.

A part of him still wanted to be gentle, to show her he could be, but that part was getting pushed back by his rut, his hands gripping her as if the very idea of her trying to move further away was offensive.

She gets it after some fumbling and starts tugging both his pants and underwear down his hips.

He lifts his ass up off the bed, her tugging pulling both bits of clothing down. He lowered himself over her, kissing her in a messy, hungry kiss even as he angled himself, hips moving so that he slid up against her from between her thighs. She was so slicked and wet right now, there was no hesitation, no friction from the head of his cock gliding into her and--

Her voice saying his name like that only made him thrust into her harder, knees digging into the bed as he slid an arm around her under her back, levering her up so he could enter her at a deeper angle. His name again is what does it, and he bites at her lip, thrusting in hard, grinding in against her as he does, growling as he draws back and looks sightlessly down at her. "Mine."

Going through a rut was one thing; either with a beta or alone, but this? Jesus, this was how it was supposed to be. This was him and her, alpha and omega, lock and key.

She sucks in a breath and clenches around him at that, instincts screaming at her that this is right, perfect, that this is her alpha and he's perfect and she's his. He thrusts into her again and fuck, she's coming with a long moan, shaking with pleasure but still nowhere near satisfied.

She might be coming, but he wasn't. Not yet. Not until he had her ruined under him. But there was a notice stirring in the base of his groin, something indicating something he'd only felt once before and shouldn't have been so surprised to feel at that moment. "Shit, Foggy, I'm... turn over." Because his secondary swelling was going to happen any moment and he'd be locked in her, and he had an instinctive urge to be draped over her from behind when that happened.

She doesn't know why he's asking, yet, and a part of her wants to stay like this because she likes being able to see his face, but right now her body's pretty much marinating in hormones telling her to do whatever her alpha wants, anything, just so long as he keeps fucking her.
