(Thea aka Mia splits for NYC post island (so ignoring canon for the moment) and surprising Chuck at the office? She invokes the escape hatch and only Oliver knows she's ran away just to deal on her terms? And keeping the idea of inner circles being in the know but under wraps in public?)

If Thea was being honest with herself she just wanted a way of out of Star City, especially after the island. So post escape, a few speedy texts and a high speed packing up she was on the road via bike for NYC and to the safety net that was Chuck. But to keep the press guessing she made the appointment as "Mia Dreaden" her go-to alias and one only a handful knew she still used. So after a stop to drop off her backpack and parking her bike she arrived at Chuck's office in full motorcycle wear, partly planned and partly because he had mentioned liking her in skin tight jeans. "Mr. Bass will be with you shortly Miss Dearden" as Thea sits and waits, she's not eaten so well since the island and it shows. Especially since she lived on coffee and fries while on the road. Add in a few healing bruises and anyone could see its been a rough few days. "Minor car accident, nothing to worry about." she reassured the clerk that inquired about what happened.

It was a boring day at the office; wall to wall meetings mostly with lawyers and project managers, and making the morning even worse he'd had to fire one of them - which wasn't the only reason he was delighted when he heard Thea was at the main desk.

He wondered if Thea would notice the glare from his secretary who despite Chuck's denial still thought that Mia's affection was ... negotiable. Not that she'd say anything; the glares for Mia were mostly because she was loyal to Chuck and to her salary.

Still, he cut his meeting short and Thea would see another lawyer leave his office before she was sent in. "Thea!" Chuck's delight at her visit was open as he wrapped her up in a hug, and then he frowned briefly at how bony she was. "What have you been doing?"

Thea lit up when Chuck pulled her into a hug, she needed this. "Could not explain it all through a few texts but I'll try." as Thea gave Chuck the quick and dirty version of the last week plus. "So I packed and ran, spent most of last night on the road. Had to invoke escape hatch but Oliver knows I've skipped town." since they had done the math and figured with an all nighter Thea could pull Star City to NYC in about 12 hours via bike. Plus when Thea came up for visits she would let Oliver know in case anyone got nosy (he respected her and Chuck keeping things under the radar).

Chuck frowned as he drew her down onto his lap. "I might have to ban you from leaving New York until I think you're a healthy weight again, Thea." His lips and tone said he was teasing but his tone was concerned. "And you know I'd love to keep you collared for a while." Of course he'd only want to if she wanted it but he thought she'd enjoy herself with no responsibilities.

Thea had almost totally given in but her guard was down. "Just knew it was time to run." she confessed. "And maybe a few hours of the collar is what I need." she realized softly, Chuck respected her need to keep her voice after everything she's been through but also knows when she needs to just be and not have to stare down things. "I spent most of the ride up here rehashing everything from the island so cue dark mental place?"

Chuck nodded. "When you're ready to talk about it I'm here. And until then?" He smiled, drawing her body closer for a kiss as he twisted his hand in her hair to tug it gently. "You know you're safe here, Mia." Using of course her fake name if she didn't want to be Thea for a while.

Sometimes becoming the mask (or the fake name) was all Thea needed to catch her breath. She leaned in with a sweet kiss and a quick hand squeeze,"Its mutual you know." quietly speaking of the handful of times Chuck's showed up at her place in the dead of night for the same reasons. "I eventually have to go home but for now I don't have to think about or even discuss the last few weeks, till I'm ready." knowing nightmares of the island would happen knowing her past.

"Of course." Chuck smiled before his voice dropped. "How bad are the nightmares?" Part of the subtext there was about whether it was necessarily safe to sleep in the same bed as her; on one occasion he knew of her fist had ended up an inch from his throat before she actually woke up.

"Anywhere from a high end five to a low grade seven. But all bets are off given the last couple of weeks too." Thea used the scale to explain since the nightmares have been hit and miss since the island. She shuddered inside since the nightmare that lead to a near punch had only been a couple of months ago. "Oliver said he emailed you some ideas on what helped him during nightmares so I can be pulled out in time." she added.

"Some time you're going to have to tell me what happened." But not right now. "And he did. The other part is waking you up from them safely. You being dangerous as you are is sexy as hell." He stole a quick kiss. "But is at its worst when you don't know what you are doing."

"Just need to decompress but in time." Thea could promise Chuck, she knew from experience once she could breath she could talk about things on her mind. She steals a kiss in the process,"I know I'm dangerous during a nightmare." she realized. But a shy smile does escape,"But at the same time danger can be fun too." meaning the safer sides of her danger loving nature. "So where do I start this time around?" since between not eating and the nightmares semi healthy coping sort of took a hike.

"It can." Chuck smiled back. "And as for where do you start, when did you last eat something greasily or chocolately, if that's a word, unhealthy? Or even a full meal?" She'd lost more weight than he was comfortable wwith on the island. "And what do you think you need?"

"Half a double cheeseburger and fries via Big Belly Burger on the freeway." Thea had humored the craving for sky high grease and it did help if only for a little while. "And honestly I know sleep sort of went out the window so naps?" since she has a lot to learn even now on the healthy coping front. "And hopefully cuddles?"

"I think I can arrange all that." Chuck smiled. "Including better food than the Big Belly Burger. Even if my chef would kill me if we didn't order in advance for dinner. Do you want to cancel all my afternoon meetings?"

"In all fairness it was the only real option at midnight too." Thea confessed but a smile was there. She has gotten better about her love of fast food and only has it maybe twice a week now. "And you make the call on that. I don't mind hiding in an empty conference room for a couple of hours if needed." since she's done it before, usually one with a TV and net connection so she could tend to club matters.

Chuck shrugged. "I can put everything off today. It's not as if I haven't tied most of my assets up in Star City anyway." He wasn't even slightly kidding; he'd gone all in on Star City to the point he was actively courting boardroom coups; he had just enough votes that he was actually entirely secure - and was more than willing to go into debt to buy the voting shares back; the announcement of reopening the Star City Underground was scheduled the morning after the board meeting just to make people careless. And being seen as erratic was a good thing for this provocation.

"So what food do you want?"

"Speaking of Star City I brought up those maps you asked about pre most recent crisis." Thea nods, the maps tucked into her bag back at the hotel. "And the lady submits to those that know what she needs." her way of saying at least for now she's giving in and letting Chuck take care of her. "I also brought up the DVDs from last email too." since they sometimes would binge watch a movie series during visits when nothing good was on TV.

"Thank you." Chuck smiled. ​"And be careful about telling me you submit or you'll be crawling round my penthouse in nothing but a collar." He was mostly teasing of course. "But I think you need a nice big steak and chips this evening. And probably just falling asleep watching DVDs. What did you bring?"

Thea thankfully knew Chuck was mostly teasing. "Steak, fries and bad movies. Sounds like the perfect night and I brought the Sharknado movies. All but the most recent one since its not on DVD yet. Also brought up Pacific Rim and a couple of seasons of Archer." since the DVDs don't take up much backpack space she packed a few options. That and clothes have been gradually brought up over several months of visits so not much had to be packed.

Although only mostly teasing as she probably would end up in his dungeon at some point. "You need a Netflix subscription. It's got most of that except sharknado." Or possibly it was Amazon that had Pacific Rim. "So shall we make a break for it and see how long it takes my secretary to notice?"

"Time I get one right?" but Thea's smiling as she picked up her purse. "We run for it, I say it'll take at least an hour this time." another in a series of running games for the two. As she spoke her and Chuck's hands laced together for a second or two, enough for connection more than anything else.

"Walk, don't run. When I run in this place people wonder where the fire is." Chuck squeezed her hand gently. "And that or five minutes. Nothing between the two." Chuck shrugged and opened the door, heading towards the elevator.

"Same with me. I was more shocked nobody got nosy when you came up last month." as Thea picked up her purse. As they left for the elevator she observed,"Friendly wager, drinks again?" since it had become another silly tradition by now. "And as for check in calls Oliver only asks that I text every so often. He knows I'm seeing this trip as an escape on every level." since he's among the few in the know.
