[ To say that the Paulson job went a bit sideways would be an understatement. Arthur had done all the research available to him, had been poring over documents and persona records for weeks before the team gathered up in Milano to start building their strategy. It should've been simple extraction, pulling information from a shipping company head on where their shady trade routes were. Cakewalk. He probably could've done this with his eyes closed.
Unfortunately, said mark had mafia ties, because apparently who the fuck doesn't have mafia ties in Italy. So he'd been extra careful setting up communications with the rest of the team. Maria had built an incredible maze based around the aqueducts and gondola ways. Cobb would've been impressed. Eames was forging and Kane was extracting. All of them had enough jobs under their belts that it was supposed to go smooth.
Too bad everything came crashing in on them halfway through the dream. Eames had gotten the information in hand and then Kane came around the corner and shot him in the head, kicking him from the dream. After that, everything started collapsing as they'd picked Eames as the dreamer (he'd been creative enough and stable enough to hold Maria's vision together).
Arthur followed fast on his heels. After waking, he'd toppled Maria's chair enough to shake her out of the dream, run a clipped "we gotta go" past her and start packing the PASIV. Eames was already streaking out the door and Arthur had only stopped to clock Kane in the face before hurrying himself and Maria out of there.
So here they both are, a week later, in one of Arthur's flats in Portugal, overlooking the water. Kane had sold them out to the high paying mafia lords and now they had to play dead for a while. At least until he could get a call to Saito and get him to lean on some friends. ]

[ Seriously, Shouta, you can't go on ignoring his messages like this. He was going to get worried. He'd already checked the appropriate channels. If he was on some kind of hero mission, it wasn't going to be anything too intense. No excuse to ignore him when he was at the freakin' market trying to get supplies! Maybe he should have just bitten the bullet and done the regular shopping...
He was so lost in thought he couldn't have noticed most anyone walk up to him. Well. Most anyone quiet. He still remembered a few tricks from his own hero days, but his power came with consequences of their own. ]
