The thoughts swam in a heady, blurred stream behind his closed eyes. He cracked one open, saw the slope of Archer's shoulder. Tightened his arm around the waist of his spirit, tucked close, inhaling a breath against the nape of his neck. Nuzzled near-blindly against the back of his head.

To say that he was possessive was likely an understatement: Cain was quick to get snarly and snappy if Archer was out of sight, and went well out of his way to keep his spirit unreasonably close. Even when he was sleeping, he wanted to be within easy touching distance of Archer. As if the second he was gone, it would all prove a dream.
