Friday Night Excursions Meme

It’s Friday night, and you don’t have plans. Or maybe you have some really excellent plans involving your couch and your laptop, but your characters are in dire need of a social life. Grab your friends or text that cutie you swiped right on, you’re going OUT.


Scenarios:
1. Blind Date - You swiped right. Or, maybe this is an old-fashioned blind date, where your friends set you up. All you have is a time, date, place, and a name. Better hope they’re a good conversationalist, or you’ll be climbing out the bathroom window.
2. Game Center - Who’s ready for some SKEE-BALL? Mini-golf, anyone? Grab a friend or a date and school them in a game of laser-tag. Drunken laser tag? That’s what Friday nights were made for.
3. House Party - Sure, you were invited. Your friend’s cousin’s ex-roommate lives here. And you know… that guy. Fred? Fred. Okay, so maybe you’re crashing the party, and it is a rager. Get ready to get blackout drunk and jump off the roof, because it is Friday night and we are here to PAR-TAY.
4. Bar/Club Scene - Well, it’s better than drinking alone. Maybe you came with friends, maybe you’re just desperate to forget your loneliness, maybe you just honestly like sitting alone at the bar with a book. But hey, maybe you’ll meet someone cute, or maybe some jerk will try to slip something in your drink and you’ll end up best friends with the bartender who gets him arrested. Maybe you’ll try out a hip new club and get your grind on.
4a. ALT Bar/Club Scene - When I say BD you say SM. Or, maybe your alt club experience this evening is going to be one of those new hipster speakeasies. Maybe a swingers club? Whatever it is, you’re going to be walking a little bit off the beaten path tonight. Grab your tiger-print thong and curl your mustache, you’ve got an invite somewhere exclusive.
5. Meetup - You don’t need no dang romance (or maybe you do). You’re going to be spending the evening with your new crochet group. Craft beer enthusiasts. Improv acting troupe. Parcheesi players. Only, whoops, turns out everyone canceled except the two of you.
6. Great Outdoors - You know what weekends are for? CAMPING. Pile into the camper or heft your camping backpack, the world outside awaits. And if the wild world outside is a bit intimidating, there are always more suburban outdoor activities, like streaking through a moonlit park or starting a dumpster fire. Probably better to stick with camping. Camping builds character.
7. Great Indoors - The whole reason that humanity invented houses is because indoors is just plain better. You’ve got your couch, your pet, your laptop, some tea and a good book. And maybe a good friend or significant other to stay in and cuddle with you? Go on, invite someone over. You can make dinner, or order pizza, or just skip dinner and get straight to "dessert". There’s no work tomorrow, let’s stay up all night on a Sex and the City marathon.
8. Wreaking Havoc - Ordinary Friday night plans are for losers! Let’s put on our Halloween costumes and go TP a house. Let’s start a riot and party like it’s 1999. Go wild and crazy, paint outside the lines. It’s Friday!

[so maybe he wasn't expecting the party to get this out of hand. by the sound of the text invite he received it seemed like it would be a few people for fun drinking games while watching uh... that new popular fantasy epic people liked to watch weekly. in theory it should have been up tamaki's alley, which is why he took the time to peck at his nerves until he agreed to come.

but!

apparently the invites got out of control, and what started as something quiet and calm, with a few laughs and mirio taking most of the attention so tamaki could feel more relaxed in this new setting, quickly turned to what felt like a small village of people? all at once, even! which, if he knew tamaki (and he did) the influx of strangers must be getting to him.

regrettably mirio was in the kitchen getting drinks when the door burst open and people started to pour in with cheers and chanting.]

Oh no...

[this? this was more his own scene, and if he were with anyone else he would be giving a whoop of his own before shotgunning a can of beer. but he would like to think he was a little more thoughtful when tamaki was concerned. and the crowd was loud, he probably wouldn't be able to get tamaki's attention with a yell, so he fishes out his phone, texting him instead.]

[She had her nose in a book, like always. People were supposed to be coming over today, a little get together like several time in the past. Privately, she knew good and well what that usually meant, which also meant not telling Gajeel what happened tonight. What happened at Erza's place, stayed at Erza's place.

For now, though, she was pretending that this was not some glorified orgy waiting to happen, a glass of chilled melon wine next to her on the end table as she occupied the red-head's love seat. Her nose was completely in the book, reading glasses on as she flipped from page to page, leaving Erza to set up on her own. She could handle it, and if she got involved, someone was bound to try and snag her up early.

Not that she'd really mind, just... best not to encourage her too much.]

Valryn may have been a little hyperbolic to Count Lecter when he spoke of having a nocturnal sleep schedule; it's not quite so strict as all that, as sleep isn't even a necessity for him, but he doesn't bother to venture outside of his quarters before dusk most days.

Not unless it's for a good reason... But the invitation (if one could call it that, since Valryn was the one who orchestrated the invite in his own less than subtle way) is plenty reason enough to emerge from his tavernside dwelling as the golden tendrils of light begin to scrape against the darkening skin of the sky. The innkeeper, who seemed less than enthusiastic to allow a drow to take indefinite residence in his establishment at first, even remarks on his early departure this evening.

'I have a date,' he explains with a smile that smolders like coals in a fire. Must build that positive rapport when he can.

The estate of the Count is not far to travel to, or difficult to find -- it merely takes some patience. Far from the bustling streets of this modest city, Valryn finds it's a stroll long enough to take one's mind away from the clamor of sounds he has been exercising a need to tune out. These are farming lands, where the livestock begin to outnumber those who tend to the flocks. It's a small comfort to realize that Valryn has to travel in the direction of the oncoming dark to reach his destination.

It's a peaceful trek to take. Valryn could have rented a coach to bring him here, but he wants to be seen on the streets. He is here, on the surface. His relationship to the darkness is a marriage, not imprisonment. He and many can walk the surface freely; make note of it.

And this encounter, to build a camaraderie with a man of a high social status, is everything Valryn seeks. Leaps and bounds better than sitting in the tavern in silence for hours eavesdropping on the local gossip, but at least doing that much mean learning about Lecter long ago.

The gates are massive and ornate, Valryn detects magic upon them as he presses his fingers to one of the wrought-iron doors, but also finds that it opens without any effort expended on his end. It's at least another quarter mile to the front steps, but the dwelling from here is visible, large, and gorgeous. The sun is beginning to nestle at the horizon line as Valryn ascends the smooth stone steps to the front of the mansion, and here he chooses to remove his black-glassed spectacles. It's uncomfortably bright, but the preliminary adjustment will help him function with all of the light he expects will be present within.

He holds his concentration as he regards the large, detailed door knocker before him -- a boar's head in iron, carrying a perfect round ring in its jaws, set into the grand wooden door. He touches its snout and can sense magic here, too.

So perhaps there is little use for the knocker itself, being magically imbued for some purpose, but... Valryn also suspects that it was chosen for a specific, self-serving purpose. He guesses confidently that that purpose is a flair for the dramatic.

And the sound that booms from the iron ring hitting the wooden door thrice is, yes, quite dramatic.
