[So this is about as cross-canon and cross-verse as you can get, but a blind bodyguard could be an interesting dynamic with Matthew AU'ed into her world?]

Valryn has been living on the surface for months, and yet he still forgets how many require assistance for sight in the dark.
Gabriel's employment, and therefore constant presence, is finally familiar enough that Valryn does not turn around in their camp in the dark and irately inquire as to what Gabriel thinks he's doing, lighting a fire, making their location known. Breathe. The paranoia for self-preservation runs deep as his bones, an unmistakable trait for a Drow, even despite his confidence. He is still adapting.
And on the evenings when their travels do not bring them townside, Valryn finds he rather prefers it. The quiet woods, away from the numerous sorts of surface dwellers that peer upon him with horror in their beady little eyes... It's exhausting. Quite frankly, Valryn could do without them entirely. But he is in their realm, and rely upon them he must, when it's necessary. This surface world native, his guard and travel aid, is different, of course. Oh, he wouldn't pay him to be in his presence morning noon and night if he was as insufferable as the most of the humans here.
Really, the most Gabriel provides is his knowledge of the land, assistance in travel, and being a very decent cook. It's almost silly to hire him, for all that Valryn is capable of, but it's precautionary. And he only took up the opportunity when Gabriel proved to be the most palatable human he had met to date...and, the most capable.
The fire Gabriel builds is a beacon, a sun to orbit back to. Valryn's boots crunch through leaves and felled branches, their camp yards from any major path through these woods. He seems satisfied with his shroud around their camp, a cloud that builds darker and darker around them, masking their presence from potential passers by...primarily, advantageous thieves.
"At least the weather is on our side tonight," Valryn remarks thoughtfully as he crouches to his bag of holding; weather is something Valryn has to force himself to anticipate. There is not...much in the way of weather that occurs under the surface of the earth. Time is his teacher.
Valryn pulls a medium-sized bottle from the bag, and soon enough, he procures plain looking goblets. "I thought wine might liven up our selection of rations for the evening."
He pauses in his turn to regard Gabriel, a thought striking his mind. His smile is one part pitying, one part genuinely amused. "I promise it's not spider wine, again."

It's weird to be the one who's protected instead of who's protected from. But she's been called to testify against Black Mask and he's not the kind to take that lying down.
She's hand cuffed with a electronic collar around her neck that disables her powers. In a side room in the Gotham Courthouse she watches the Daredevil as she waits for her turn to testify.
"Go ahead." She tells him, "Laugh it up. I'm used to it by now."

It had been a day of waiting, Jyn and Bodhi tucked together in the small outbuilding Jyn had found to shelter them after their contact turned out to be an Imperial contact as well, and the entire port lit up. With bright flashy lights and holographic Good Citizens Do Not Be Alarmed posters and also white trooper helmets. The outbuilding had the benefit of not only hiding them, but also cutting down on the unnecessary sensory input.
The Empire is, as far as Jyn is concerned, really just too loud. That was low on the list of its many sins, but it still makes her spine itch.
The last time she'd seen a sapient being hunt this obvious, she'd been sliding through the edges of it at Cassian's elbow. It'd been targeted at Bodhi then, too. The thought makes something inside her flash bright and protective, like fangs made of lightning.
Jyn gently nudges Bodhi's foot with her foot, and says, “Hey. At least neither of us are alone this time.”
