let me be your nightmare

Your nightmares follow you like a shadow...

You're trapped in your worst nightmare and worse yet,
you've dragged someone right along in with you.
You feel like you can't escape and any fear you've ever had
is coming true or you're being forced to watch helplessly as
someone you care about is in mortal danger or pain but you can't save them.

Whatever you fear the most can and will come true.
- Post your characters, name and series in the subject.
- Others respond after going to RNG and entering 1-7.
- TRIGGER WARNING: Some prompts may be triggering (Torture, general violence, ect.) so be mindful.

1. motions. you're trapped in your worst nightmare, forced to through the horror to completion with whoever you've drawn into your dream.
2. chased. you're both being chased by something horrible, but it feels more like you're running in place.
3. tortured. held down and tortured in every way imaginable. Can whoever else is in your dream save you?
4. helpless. you're helpless, only able to watch as the person dragged into your dream is hurt, tortured, or otherwise in danger, but you can't help.
5. tormentor. the person in your dream is not there to help, but to hurt. They are not a friend... at least not right now. Maybe they're fighting against whatever is urging them to hurt you or are taking great delight in it.
6. uncontrolled. you're hurting someone you care about and taking delight in it... or at least outwardly. Inside, you might be fighting it with everything you've got.
7. other. mix and match or make your own up.

[Longish prose/assumed cr preferred]

[He's trapped in a dark room. Is it some kind of dungeon? Who knows. He can't move. His hands are tied behind his back and he's beaten up so badly that even keeping his eyes open is a great effort to him.

His captors stand right next to him, looking down at him, laughing and threatening that they will continue this little "game" until he tells them where are the other rebels.

Yuto wouldn't tell them anything even if they pushed him into the depths of hell. He's not scared of pain or torture. All of this just fuels his hatred towards them, towards Academia, because even though he can't see their faces it has to be them. Who else would it be?

And yet, despite all of that, those bastards seem to be amused and suddenly Yuto hears something that freezes blood in his veins and makes his eyes wide. They tell him that maybe they should bring Ruri here, maybe they should hurt her just as much as they hurt Yuto? Break her bones? Make her bleed and cry?

Only in that moment Yuto starts feeling both fury and panic. He can't even move. If those bastards really try to hurt Ruri he won't be able to do anything to stop them.]

Don't you dare...!

[His voice sounds so weak and broken that Yuto curses himself. The Academia soldiers just laugh at this, then threaten him again, before they move away from him as if about to leave to get Ruri. And Yuto is crying inside his mind. Don't you dare hurt any of his friends!

He tries to move but his body just won't let him.

...But he can't let them hurt Ruri!]

[Yuya doesn't know where he is, and that's the first alarming part. The second is that, wherever it is, it's dark and dank and too quiet with lines of seemingly empty cells. Is this a prison...?

That's definitely a place he wasn't looking forward to being again, but it doesn't look like the facility in Synchro.

He doesn't want to wait and see what's living down here, so he starts running forward down the hall. There's occasional light from the scattered, dim ceiling lights. It's just enough to know where he's going, and to see inside the occasional cell. He needs to get out, but even with that thought in mind he finds his attention gripped by every prison he can see into, for any signs of life--

He stops when he finds it with Yuto, luckily after the Academia soldiers are around the corner and miss him.] Wh--Yuto!

[He twists to face the cell, gripping the bars as he peers in. He looks, in a word, terrible--more fragile that Yuya could have imagined to find him, but there's still something burning in his eyes and that's the only thing that keeps Yuya's rising panic in check.]

Yuto--hold on, I'll get you out of there. [Nevermind he has no idea where, or what, or how... he'll figure something out, because Yuto's safety is his priority.]

[The voice that reaches him is so unexpected that Yuto doesn't recognize it at first. But he hears his name and...]

Yuya...

[His own voice is so weak, but Yuto doesn't care. It's Yuya! That tiny ray of hope is enough to bring him back from the abyss of despair. His head turns ever so slightly to look at his counterpart. Even such a small motion is difficult to him as his body protests and pain runs through it - are his bones broken? Probably yes.]

Yuya, don't... mind me! Go after them! Save... save Ruri!

[It takes all his strength to get those words out and frankly, he's amazed that he actually managed to say all of that. But it doesn't matter. Ruri is the priority and Yuya is the only one who can help her.

Then a dark thought crosses Yuto's mind. what if Yuya gets caught? What if all three of them end up like this? It's scary to think about it... Yuto doesn't want any of his friends to get hurt.

...If he only wasn't so helpless right now.

Yuto bites his lower lip. It'll be okay. Yuya will save Ruri and this nightmare will finally end. He has to believe in that.]

Ruri is here? [Yuya glances around. Then this must be Academia. He doesn't want to leave Yuto here, but he's telling him to go and--

Yuya's brow furrows as his thoughts swim. This wasn't where he was before, was it? What was going on...?

He shakes his head to steady himself and looks at Yuto with worry. Yuto and Ruri came first, he has to tell himself that. He would find answers later.]

... All right. And then we'll come back for you. Where are they keeping her?

[He doesn't know where they're keeping Ruri. This truth hits him hard, because he is starting to realize he's throwing Yuya into a helpless search, when there's no time for it. And if he gets caught, too? Yuto doesn't even want to think about it.

He's about to say something, when suddenly he hears steps. For some reason that sound seems so oddly loud. Or maybe it's just Yuto focusing too much on it.]

I knew I heard something. [An amused voice says and Yuto immediately recognizes it as one of his tormentors from before. They came back? Oh no, no. He tries to move, to get closer to Yuya but his body ends up flat on the cold ground and refuses to obey him. He can just look with eyes wide with fear and pray in his heart that Yuya will run away somehow, that he'll be safe.

The two Academia soldiers from before stand there and smile in that twisted, cruel manner.]

[Yuya tenses at the voice, turning on his heels. He knows those uniforms, and there's a sinking feeling in his stomach that he was right. It was Academia.

Well, he wasn't going to let them hurt anyone further-- especially not Yuto or Ruri. He glances back as Yuto falls in his cell, and it only steels his resolve.

He turns back to the soldiers and holds his arms up, his duel disk coming to life. His expression is ready to fight.] You're not going to hurt him anymore!

[Did Yuto really expect Yuya to run, after everything?]

[Yuto just watches this with a horrified expression. The two soldiers don't pay any attention to the fact that Yuya wants to duel them. If anything they just seem even more amused now, soon starting to laugh.]

You want to duel? Seriously? [One of them says, getting closer and closer to Yuya.] This is already the end for you. [And he grins.

At the same time Yuto grits his teeth and uses the rest of his strength to yell:]

Leave him alone!

[Why? Why he can't do anything more than this? What kind of nightmare is this?]

[Yuya takes a step back, but it just results in his back presses against the bars of the cell. He was expecting the soldiers to pull out their duel disks as well, not come closer.

He holds down a spike of panic that now, he really doesn't know what they're about to do. But he can't let Yuto down--he has to save him and Ruri! And especially when he can already hear Yuto's distress, he can't be scared himself.]

That's right! You're duelists, aren't you?
