Waiting. There was always a lot of waiting involved when you were involved with a man like Jesse McCree. Waiting for when he'd wander through and take a little solace in the semi-solitude of Leighton's life.

Leighton had spent his day working the little field and garden that provided for him, and whenever that roaming cowboy ever actually came around. It helped his day pass by until twilight came and he moved to sit outside with a bug of tea, watching and waiting as he just enjoyed the quiet moment.

There had been a time that Leighton would have laughed at someone if they told him he'd end up tangled in the lives of vigilantes. He'd always espoused his desire to live a quiet life. He didn't want to bother others, didn't seek drama and intruige.

Yet, here he was. Used to Oliver having to run off and do the very thing that made him the man he was. A good man who, yes, had experienced much heartache. It was getting a glimpse of the pain Oliver had gone through, even if he as of yet didn't know all the details, that kept Leighton around. Kept him waiting for Oliver's return once he was done fighting the good fight.

As had become his ritual on these nights when he knew Oliver had rushed off to fight, Leighton waited. He'd brought the comforter of their bed to the living room and laid on the couch in just a pair of boxers and one of Oliver's shirts. Candles casting a low, soothing glow as soft music played lowly in the background. The mingling scents of lavender and vanilla in the air... all things that combined to ease the anxiety that would rise up otherwise.

Leighton himself had his hair in a messy bun and half laid propped up in a corner of the couch, a mostly empty cup of tea flavored with honey in his hands, now room temprature as he had dozed off. Waiting for Oliver's return.
