The Eggbaby Meme
| "Each of your Eggbabies has a built in computer which registers the amount of care-- or lack of care-- it's given. These readings will determine your grade. As you can see the babies exhibit a wide range of emotions and expressions in need. It's your job to fill those needs." |
| How to: ✦ Leave a comment with your character's name and fandom. Others will reply. ✦ Congratulations, the two of you are now in charge of an Eggbaby. You can pretend it's for class or, for those who aren't in school, you can assume the baby is some sort of important mission. It is your job to take care of and keep the baby happy. If you drop the baby, you fail. You can not turn it off. Remember, this is a joint effort. This is a very important assignment that determines if you pass/fail the class or save the world. ✦ You can RNG a number between 1 and 8 to find out what kind of situation you're in. ✦ Good luck! Options: 1. Other plans. You had other plans but now you aren't sure if you can do them because of this baby. Try to convince your partner to do you a favor or else you'll have to drag the baby along with you. 2. Broke baby. Something is seriously wrong with this baby. It won't stop crying no matter what you do and you really wish this thing had an off switch. 3. Lost baby. What do you mean where's the baby? Don't you have it? Wait, you mean, you don't? FU-- WHERE'S THE BABY?! 4. Perfect baby. Your baby never cries. In fact, it doesn't really do much of anything. Wow, this project sure is easy! …Dude, it keeps staring at me. 5. Not my baby. This isn't your baby but you're watching it for a friend until they get back from that super important meeting. They've been gone all day and you hope they'll get back soon. 6. Twins. You're taking care of your baby and someone else's baby. (bonus option: you're taking care of another baby and another and another and another…) 7. MY BABYYYY! What the hell did you do? Your baby is broken. You've failed your assignment. Maybe you can put it together and no one will ever notice or try to steal someone else's baby. 8. Crack baby. Roll again, combine prompts, or make up your own scenario. |

And of course it seemed very unhappy now; that was the form it had taken, the behavior it had adopted in this realm.
"That's why I said we should chunk it."

She doesn't step away from the circle though because that is dumb as hell.
The baby demon egg though starts cooing up at her. She tries to smile but it looks a bit wrong with her mask on and the fact she just is not happy.
The darkness outside the door almost wavers though.
no subject
The darkness flutters and comes back. Mama might know that the baby isn't as upset anymore, but she still wants it back.

"It seems happier? But... it is dangerous." She rocks the 'child' considering her options. "I can't do anything right now. The.... Mother is still out there?"
She can sort of sense it and the feeling of it out there has her gut churning with fear.

He scowled deeply and went over to one of the windows, and pressed the button on the weapon he had brought out, letting out a huge stream of fire that lit up the whole block despite the darkness the demon was creating. Hopefully, that would get it to back off or do something stupid.

Hannah closes her eyes and prays John doesn't get hurt.
She'd feel so bad.
no subject
"Toss it over here!" he yelled as the darkness started to increase with gusting winds.
no subject
Oh gosh. Did it just laugh?!
She owes John a nice meal or something for this. She is SO sorry she argued.
no subject
"Here! Take the damn thing!" he yelled out the window, throwing the egg out of the window as hard as he could. She did owe him an apology once this was over, and hopefully, it would be now that "mama" had its precious baby back.

The moment of glaring passes though as the thing disappears in the light of a glowing ball of hell fire.
"I..." She just looks at John and is very apologetic.
no subject
"Whatever. At least it wasn't a creature of some intelligence."
no subject
"I'm sorry," she said seriously. "If I hadn't argued with you right away..."
Gosh. But they tend to argue a great deal. She has no idea why. It's probably because they're so different.
no subject
It probably was. A cold cynic and a hopefully defender of the universe who seemed to keep bumping into each other. He went over to his cabinet and pulled down some whiskey for himself, and then motioned to the fridge.
"I got juice."

As she moves the light from the ring fades and she's just a very small looking woman in very plain clothing. It's not unflattering it's just obvious she doesn't dress for any other reason but being used to that/
"I can't get drunk but... I just don't drink."
no subject
"Which is why I have juice."
He takes a swallow of the liquid, it burning his throat slightly as it went down. God, he needed to find a way to keep demons away from him and those he kept in contact with.
no subject
She dipped her head a bit shyly. She poured herself the juice though and put it up. This is why John confuses Hannah. She doesn't know how to deal with people on normal days. He's just adding to her ability to not get stuff.
But hey at least he has juice.
no subject
Of course, it didn't help that she didn't use common sense.
"So. Next time you find something odd on your doorstep, ignore it or chunk it, got it?"
no subject
What? She has to defend herself just a bit.
"I wasn't sure what it was until I almost tripped over it." She winces a little bit.
"I hadn't slept either." She still hasn't. She never gets enough sleep but there was a situation that had demanded her attention and by the time she got back to her place?
Yup. She had been tired. She looks like she hasn't slept if he really looks. She won't be sleeping for a while longer either. Too much to do.
"Next time I'll listen instead of arguing."
no subject
Drinking some more from his glass, he looked over at her. She did look tired, and with her job, he didn't blame her for that. It was something that always took a tole, trying to keep the world safe. He wondered why only one person was given a whole sector. That was too large for one person.
Sighing, he pushed his drink away and stood up.
"Come on. Time to get you home before the sun rises."
no subject
Then the thing that John had almost mistaken for something else one time. John also had saved her life once and she had returned the favor. At this point they stopped keeping track of things.
Still he had become very aware that she works so hard and rarely gets rest or thanks.
"It's that early still," she asked yawning and shifting so she could stand. "I keep loosing track of the hours. That says too much about me."
no subject
The lack of rest or thanks she got was a lot like his own; minus the fact that she had all the messy bits of her soul being dragged to hell (or almost) a couple of times and the Devil himself wanting her.
"Says too much about anyone. Better to head in now while you still can."
no subject
"Right. Home. Where I can sleep." Have some bleary blinking.
"I'm really tired. And owe you dinner sometimes."
no subject
no subject
"Mmmph." She doesn't complain. Just that token sound that she makes from being weary. She touches her jacket and absently notes she still has her keys and what passes for a wallet.
"You were only there once." What? She's not comfortable in her own home so she's surprised he even remembers it.
