① ( SOBER ): whether it be because you haven't had a chance to find the right glass for you or because you aren't much of a drinker, you're starting to look like the only one in the room who's managed to resist the temptation to throw their heads back and guzzle a few choice bottles. time to enjoy standing awkwardly in the corner while everyone else has fun, or tend to some friends who may have had one too many.

② ( TIPSY ): oh, geez. when did they decide to make moving floorboards? and since when has it been so darn difficult to walk in a straight line? you've only had a glass or two, but it's already starting to get to you, nipping at your nose and making you feel all bubbly and warm inside. hopefully this isn't the start of something worse.

③ ( DRUNK ): you may or may not have just made a series of terrible decisions and suddenly find yourself not remembering a single one of them. maybe that girl over in the corner of the room who hasn't turned your way all night looks like a nice target for a spontaneous game of fisticuffs, or that guy over there is probably, maybe, your next husband. maybe you're one of the unfortunate ones having to rush to the bathroom and get acquainted with the white tiles for a while? hopefully there's someone level-headed enough to hold your hair back for you.

④ ( HUNGOVER ): who invented noise and why did they make it so painful? whether you've managed, by some miracle, to wake up in (a) bed, or you find yourself sitting up from under the kitchen table with someone else's underwear on your head, the splitting headache you've got going for you isn't showing any sympathy for your overnight activities. better get to drinking a few litres of water and crawling under a few blankets for the day.

4 Hungover

[Last night had been...kind of impressive. They'd gotten the chance to unwind after a long and tense day of negotiations. It's not the strong suit of most of them so he'd let them relax with the local cuisine. Except it turns out the local beverage is very intoxicating for any species not the ones living on the planet.

Keith and himself? Have a brand new respect for Allura's strength after she picked up the couch they'd both been sitting on. Keith botched his good behavior by challenging her to an arm wrestling match after but, he's fine.

Something that probably was food once laid out in math figures. [ the bar's a bit of a dive, but not quite as much of a dive as some places she's been to. she always gravitates towards them — partly because she prefers the music they tend to play, drifting between punk and rock and metal, partly because they have more character than other places. but mostly because anywhere more than a dive bar either wouldn't let her in or would kick her out after spotting her on the premises.

it's not like she's not clean. her hair is freshly washed, a little on the puffy side due to having wrestled with a cheap and shitty motel hairdryer, with all the blowing power of an asthmatic toddler. her clothes are clean, freshly laundered at a quiet 24/7 place about four blocks from here, at 4am, where teagan could sit in her bra and a pair of long stolen boxers in a corner relatively undisturbed, while her clothes were washing and drying. it's just the general composition. baggy black t-shirt, similarly baggy jeans that look more like rips than jeans, scuffed converses. smudges of charcoal eyeshadow and black liner around her eyes. it doesn't exactly say anything other than dive, dive, dive.

for someone who is knocking back her sixth double jack and coke, she looks, well. bright eyed and bushy tailed, to say the least. her fake ID is pretty damn fake, but it tends to do the job when she's always got the cash to flash at the bar. she's legal in some states, all right. it's basically the same thing.

she'd also very bored. bored to the point that she has ordered a seventh drink with all the intention of going slow with it. more than that, she's taking it, herself and her duffel to a nearby, occupied booth. ]

[ ryan dalias does not drink.

not a lot, anyway. he's never considered going for the whole t-total thing purely for the fact that he tends to drink only when someone puts alcohol in his hand. which was not often. he can actually count how many times it's happened since the accident on his hands, and still have a few fingers to spare. he didn't want to drink tonight, per se. it just kept happening. apparently doctors are generally ninjas when it comes to slipping drinks into your hand and making you think it's still the same drink as before. except that probably only started happening after drink number three.

worse than the fact that ryan dalias doesn't drink (a lot), is the fact that he's a lightweight.

one that makes poor decisions like crawling through the station to almost abandoned cargo bays. ]
