( it's really, really, really hard to be tense and naked. especially around king. craig can't be relaxed 24/7, but he's trying to be a little more. just so he's not spreading himself too thin. )

[King raises a brow at that. "Not?" This is where he would say "challenged accepted" and shower him with even more compliments than he already had before, but...

They could use a brief Real Talk moment.]

Sometimes I still can't believe it's you and me, you know? Meeting up with you again, catch up and seeing how things are for you now... [A loooong way from how King remembered him, but he's still the same good bro at heart.]

I feel like I can barely juggle my own life as it is. [And, to subvert anything along the likes of him feeling bad because that's the very opposite of what it is, he nudges Craig's shoulder.]

But since being with you ❤[They need some macaroni because King knows he's providing all the cheese now but who cares. Mac and cheese is awesome.]

I probably still can't do as many sit ups as you can though. [With enough motivation, like a handsome guy spotting him maaaaybe...]

( noooooooooooo "real talks" are not what they need! those kinds of things are life changing! especially, because usually they're things craig needs to hear, but doesn't know how to really put anything into action. when he was younger, things were so easy. he barely cared about anything and everything was just some fun adventure after another. then smashley happened. then the twins happened. then river happened. then the divorce happened. craig can say with ease that he never imagined his life ending up this way. he doesn't regret anything, though. he learned a lot being married and becoming responsible. even he has trouble lining the self he is now to the self he was when he first met king.

he laughs a little and ducks his head. probably no one in maple bay can do as many sit ups as craig can. he nudges king back. )

Bro, I can't juggle my life either. You saw that.

( he was about ready to fall apart by the time king showed up again. if he hadn't . . . craig wonders what would have actually happened. it's not something he likes to think about, so he kind of avoids it. what matters now is that he's learning how to manage all aspects of his life. it's not a fast process, but now that he has king back in his life. well. he's trying a little harder. so, he slings his arm around king's shoulders and drops a kiss against his temple. )

I'm glad it's you.

( his lips twitch up in a telltale sort of smirk. he's going to admit something here. )

[Craig can probably juggle his kids and King but he's not about to issue a challenge, especially when the kiss puts his silly imagination to a pause. He's just not going to think about what he could have missed, since he's standing right here and right now. Craig probably heard his heart beating fast after what he just said.]

Really? [His own smirk doesn't leave even as he raises a brow, the meaning finally registering. It'd be a lie to say it hadn't crossed his mind too.]

Well...there had been times I just wanted to kiss you out of relief whenever I thought you weren't going to survive jumping from one rooftop to the next. [Craig stood out more than King did, he thinks. They both have done their fair share of dumb things, but it's the way how Craig would pull it off that would leave a lasting impression.

That said, the fact that Craig thought of them? Together? He's touched...and is as surprised as one can expect.]

( it's not like he meant to think about them together, but sometimes it just happened. they shared space together for so long, saw each other in different ways, told each other their deep thoughts (as deep as a guy can have in college). they were close. and, sometimes, at night (or a few times in the showers), craig thought about king. things like what it might be like to share a bed and feel their bodies pressed together, what his mouth would taste like if he kissed him, or even what sounds he might make if craig went down on him. he knows now, all of those things and more, and it's something he's thankful for. being with king is like being whole again after thinking he wouldn't be.

craig lays a hand against the small of king's back, keeps it still for a second or so, and then moves it up until he can curl his fingers around the side of his neck. it's an action done to move them closer together. )

That kind of relief wasn't exactly the kind on my mind.

( and, you know what? he's not even sorry for saying it if that grin on his face has anything to say about it. )

[To think that grin is nearly the same one that he would see before Craig goes off to do something daring with King acting as the backup plan if things go awry. Instead of grinning back in return like he would otherwise, King actually just smiles in a way that didn't seem like it was allowed before. It's great.]

Right, right. [He runs his thumb along his cheek before leaning in to rest his forehead against Craig's. They've been head to head this close before, but only to announce that they're about to do something dumb in unison or something.

Live in the now, King, because Craig's here.]

( living in the now is the new thing. they can do this. craig is positive he's going to need a lot of help along the way. but, if there's one bro to get him to relax, it's this one. it's a thought that will come later on, but he'll wonder how things would have been if he'd acted on heavy impulse back in college. if he'd just taken a moment like this a step further and just kissed king instead of letting his touch linger a little too long against his neck before bounding off to do something stupid. how would their lives have turned out? would they have gotten married? adopted some kids? moved to suburbia and prepared themselves for eventual empty nest syndrome? or would they have fallen apart and never spoken again? gotten divorced? resented each other? all questions craig will spend time thinking about and getting weird over at a later date.

right now, he's just going to focus on angling his head in closer to get his mouth on king's for the kiss he wants. craig is more than happy to oblige in that. both arms shift down to wind around king to keep him held close. almost like he can't get enough of him right now. )
