( it's supposed to be for fun. a charity competition, team flash versus team avengers, just an opportunity to burn off some metaphorical steam and get together for a few days without the fate of the world resting in the balance. barry talks up the event to as many people as he can, sets up ticket sales for spectators who want an opportunity to see their favorite superheroes up close and personal, strongarms iris to somehow convince the ccpn to cover it, asks ray and oliver to recruit corporate donors — after all, it's for charity. a little press, maybe a prize basket or two, what could be so bad about that?
supergirl in her red skirt and cape winds up paired off against mister red white and blue himself, captain america in his star-spangled suit. if she's entirely honest, it doesn't seem like a very fair race; maybe it's not intended to be. she feels a little silly running on the ground, too, boots pulling gravel up as she sprints from one end of the road to the other, but it's worth it to turn around as she crosses the finish line, to see a smile curved across his face as he closes the gap between them, a good sport even as the cameras flash, capturing the moment.
