Redemption Romance

Atonement is, in your eyes, a Sisyphean task. You'll never be able to redeem yourself, no matter if what you did was against your will and only allowed you to survive in a cruel world. Who could understand what you've done or think you could be forgiven when it comes to all your friends?

Certainly you never believed redemption, so far away already, could come in the form of a person...or a romantic relationship.

[ Ahhh I don't know. I'm thinking Wanda is the one in need of redemption? Like after AOU but before CW? ]

[ It had started as Tony looking out for Wanda. After all, in some ways, he felt responsible for her. It had also been a way for him to soothe his own guilt and a distraction from self loathing and self destruction. Over time, and many visits, it's starting to become more, or maybe that's just Tony's side of things.

Tonight, when he knocks on the door, he's got a bottle of his favorite scotch and a pizza with him. ]

So, I thought to myself, what's the perfect accompaniment to scotch? A beautiful woman is a given, but very few people realize a buffalo chicken pizza goes perfectly as well.

[ Wanda didn't think much of To y visiting her. She was still adjusting to life as an Avenger and losing her brother. She didn't come out of her room much. She didn't speak to a lot of people, mostly Steve. She felt comfortable talking to him and Clint. Toby was someone who managed to worm his way into her heart. She had so much to make up for. To atone for what she did while she was with Hydra. Sometimes, the weight of it was too much and Tony seemed to know that was the right time to appear.

He knew of loss and regret. They had a lot in common, more than she wanted to admit. Nor did she want to admit that she grew to enjoy her time with him. And found herself missing him when he wasn't around.

She was in her room, reading a book when she heard the knock on the door. It opened easily enough by her power. ]

Buffalo chicken pizza? [ She says each word carefully because it sounds strange. ] I thought beer was the accompaniment to pizza.

[ It takes a little while for him to really grow on a person. He knows that. He doesn't hold it against Wanda.

Yeah, he can see how she might not want to admit their similarities. Tony is well aware of his flaws despite the fact that he pretends to embrace them and focus on his good qualities.

That doesn't get old. It's just so cool. ]

New York delicacy. [ He assures her of this as he steps inside and puts the pizza on a counter. ] For most pizzas, yes, but this one is special.

[ Mostly, he just thinks they could both use the punch scotch brings. ]

Everything is a New York delicacy. [At least that how it appears to be. The pizza, the bagels, the deli's, the list went on. There was such an abundance here compared to Sokovia.

She places her book down and moves to sit on the edge of her bed. Tony was more than welcomed to sit down with her, and place the pizza down too. She wasn't going to tell him no.]

How is this one special? [Were they celebrating anything? Or was it just because of the toppings? The aroma of it is wafting through the air, making her stomach growl a little. Right, she hadn't had dinner yet. She didn't come down, nor did she really have any inclination to.] And don't tell me it's because of the scotch.

[ He shrugs and frowns. She's got a point.

With her implied permission, Tony picks the pizza up and moves to the bed, sitting on the opposite edge. He puts the pizza within reach between them then pulls a brushed stainless steel lowball glass from each pocket in his suit jacket. He sits his down and pours her a couple of fingers of scotch before passing it over to her then repeats the action with his own glass. ]

Buffalo chicken and pizza. It's a match made in paradise.

[Wanda folds one leg and tucks it under her. She took the glass from him, wondering if she should be concerned if he had those glasses in his suit pockets all the time. The question doesn't leave her lips. Instead, she takes a whiff of the scotch before having a sip of it. Her nose wrinkles as the taste of alcohol burns down her throat.]

Not bad.

[At least it went down smooth. As for the pizza, she's still eyeing it, unsure if the combination was really that good, and not something that sounded good--like pineapple on pizza. She didn't like the sweetness of it on a pie.]

Rough day? [She doesn't know what dealings he has with his business or businesses, or what else he does when he isn't with the Avengers. He was a man who had his own life to lead, away from the super hero spotlight.]

And you've just endeared yourself to me for life. [ He appreciates a woman who enjoys a good scotch.

As for the pizza, he chuckles a little and grabs up a slice, taking a large bite. He chews, mulling over the answer to her question before he speaks.]

Long day. There are still people in the company that don't want to get with the new program or who don't understand the new program. Maybe I'm not explaining it well enough. [ He ponders this a moment. ] If you don't like it we can call and order something different.
