you lied to me before.

TRUTH MEME
Sometimes, you have to tell the truth. No, I mean, you have to. Maybe it's magic, or a promise, or nanobots; who knows. But you have to tell the truth, and everyone knows it. Of course, do half-tuths count? What about lying by omission? That's up to you, and how far you want this curse, this ailment, to go. The only thing that can't be escaped is the truth, whatever form that truth takes.

What happens next?

You decide.
  • Post your character to the meme.
  • They have to tell the truth when they're asked questions.
  • What others ask is up to them. Nothing is off limits.
  • Your character has to answer... eventually.
  • Tag around and ask other characters questions!

You could've just said "sounds like her." It is somehow still preferable over some of my students though.

May I ask how you manage to maintain them with well, with that kind of knowledge?

That kind of question is interesting in philosophy terms, but less exciting when it becomes something literal and in this world. There are enough existent issues presently without getting into literal evil.

That would be only partially truthful response from me.

You may. Because I believe that there are worthless things in the world. I believe there are people that have absolutely no worth to them, but they are not meaningless people. There is a purpose for them one way or another. I maintained my belief because that is what I believe... the idea that everything has meaning from a higher being that allowed them to exist in this world. If I could not hold onto that belief, if I truly believed that there is no meaning to anything and we must do as we do purely by morals, if we must gift ourselves meaning... I believe this world would be considered "evil" rather than "good" by the masses. And the masses have spoken. This world as flawed as it is... is "good." See?

Oh? And yet I believe that it would make something new out of the existing issues that we have now... it would make a new light to the idea of literal evil. It would shed light on a lot of things. But one needs to be unafraid to see it to the end.

Mmm. Did Tohsaka ever explain why the Edelfelts and they have such a, for lack of a better term, intense rivalry? I take things from the Clock Tower rumor mill with a container of salt.

I follow. I disagree deeply with it, but I follow the logical flow of it. So long as it works for you, that's where the value lies.

Bluntly, I don't think many people have that ability. Nor do I think it fair to put the burden of dealing with the problem on those that do have such a capacity.

The Edelfelts? As far as I am aware there is no bad blood between them. I am uncertain what you knew of Tokiomi, but he always held himself as someone who should conduct himself with grace and dignity. Even if he did not personally like a person, if the family had merit, he would keep relations civil.

Thank you. But I wonder if you are surprised I would thank you rather than rebuke your words, Waver Velvet?

Yet I do not believe fairness has ever been what the Holy Grail War taught in any aspect. It is my goal all the same. But that is also why I cannot hold the Grail myself. It's too ... abstract a concept for it to understand.

That's not been what I've seen. Or. No, they're magi and teeangers and powerful. That's enough. As for what I knew of the man, the answer is precious little beyond name and a general reputation. That seems in line with what I heard.

You've been civil, all things considered. So not terribly surprised, in truth.

Do you think so? Or do you think it genuinely cares?

Oh, well. Rin is the head of the household. She can decide what that means.

In truth is all you have in these moments.

I think that it matters, and has little to do with care. If I had a singular wish that had a concept that was solid, it would grant it. For example, the miracle of killing off half the human population. It could do it. Easily. But the concept of gifting me an answer for the meaning of evil and why it is allowed to exist for as long as it does... for as long as I will... that it cannot answer.

At present, I think it mostly means changes.

Hm. So there's an upper level on it's ability to think, reason, and judge. The more abstract a question, the harder it is. That's interesting. I believe AI will end up having similar struggles.

Forgive the short question, but ... AI?

Beg pardon. Artificial intelligence. Robots and the like. I recently developed a version for Kayneth's old mystic code.

[personal profile] impiety 2017-08-01 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
That, so?

You remade Kayneth?

Goodness no. I wouldn't do that to myself.

His mercury can take human form and accomplish household tasks.

Ah, just that much recreated.

Still... you do more with it, don't you?

Me? No. It isn't my property, it is that of Reines, the family heir. I developed the theory and Reines implemented it.
