One day Thor will stop coming to see him and Loki dreads and exalts in that knowledge. It will be a relief from the chronic hatred that permeates him. He's tried so hard, so much harder than Thor, and still he manages to get nothing.

This is no different. His punishment has been neither extreme nor lenient for an attempted genocide, though he is bitter that Thor's happy attempt to incite war only earned him a banishment. Loki get endless torment of having Thor in his presence more and for longer periods of time than he'd like.

And still, Loki, lips sewn shut, rises from the richly furred sette like the prince he is and the ruler he can never be and gazes up at the brother unwanted as the Thunderer enters his gilded prison.

Ah, the splash of hate comes so much slower these days.
